Brad, representing Koala, came out, and…read morelooked at the roof of the Historic home (built in 1914) we'd recently purchased, and told us their company had special flashing they would use around the posts of our balcony railing so they wouldn't have to remove it. After getting a replacement roof that would protect the home, not disturbing the railing and destroying our home was of utmost importance. They really wanted to work on such a Historic home, he said. Koala's price wasn't the least expensive quote we received, but we went with them because of the reviews we saw, and the reassurance that they wouldn't touch our balcony railing. We planned on having all of our railings sanded to remove years of paint, and repaired where needed, before repainting. We've now done that with the house and the porch, and it looks amazing, except for the balcony where Koala worked. Unfortunately, once we went back home, Phillip called and said that it was necessary to remove the railing in order to do the roof right. We asked why they couldn't use the flashing Brad had described, and told him again that was why we hired him. He reassured us that they would put the railing back just as they found it. That this was the best option for our roof, he said. We trusted him. We paid him when the job was finished, because he said he had guys lined up to finish the railing. Here are the before and after pictures. We've called, begged even, for months to get it fixed. He strung us along for over a year, saying they were finding the right guys to fix it, etc. We've since been told that Koala Roofing is known as a storm chaser. This mistake caused major damage and left me without AC -- not only an inconvenience but a massive, unexpected expense to repair. When the problem was diagnosed, I contacted Atlantic Craftsman to see if they would help cover a portion of the cost. I would not only need to repair the line they destroyed, but I would also need to have part of my roof taken off to access the pipe. They emailed me back saying that I was on my own and that they wouldn't cover ANY of the repairs. What's worse, the company showed little accountability. They didn't even acknowledge that they made a mistake or say sorry for the problems they caused me. I reached out again asking if they could at least provide me with some extra shingles since I would need to remove a portion of them to repair the pipe. They never responded to my emails or phone calls. The team on site also destroyed my plants and left nails everywhere (resulting in a popped car tire). If you're considering hiring them, beware. Their negligence ended up punishing me more than them.
