My partner first took me to Nelito's in 2009 when we were visiting for a couple of weeks over the summer. It was for one of our month-iversary dinners that we often take. It was a very enjoyable experience, and I felt quite welcome there.
We came back here a week later with some friends as my partner wanted to thank another friend of his for letting us stay with him for a few weeks while we were visiting. A couple of other people tagged along, and all in all good times were had.
A little over a year later, and we were living in the Enfield area permanently. We walk in, and immediately the owner greets us like we're family. And it's been that way every other time we go into the restaurant.
Needless to say, Nelito's has become one of our staple restaurants in the area. The food is usually good, the wine is reasonable, and we are always greeted warmly and welcomed by the owner. He is quite a charming fellow, and we've had many a drunken night in this establishment because of him. A few nights include videos of people dancing with him.
The place is regarded so highly among our friends that two of our friends (that we introduced) are having their wedding reception there.
If you go, I recommend the following dishes: the fried brie, chili prawns, Tournedos Rossini, the chicken stuffed with asparagus and salmon, the mussels when they are available, and I'm sure I'm forgetting many other things. If you get a main, get the sauteed potatoes!
Definitely a place we keep on going back to, if not for the food, then because we feel like family. read more
