The bridge has two spans, each supported by Town lattice trusses with a total length of 280 feet. The bridge is open to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic with an 11' clearance. There are diamond-shaped openings throughout the length of the bridge so it's nicely lit. My van would fit but there was no maximum weight posted so I opted not to try. I walked across and while there isn't a dedicated pedestrian lane, ther are spaces on the side where you can wait while vehicles pass. This is an easy bridge to visit if you're passing through New England. It's just five miles up the West River from I-91. There is parking. And if the weather's nice, there is swimming in the lazy river below the bridge down a steep incline where you can get a great picture of the bridge. *Entirely in Vermont - the longest is the Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge over the Connecticut River into New Hampshire. We were here two years ago and again this past week and things seemed different ... while there are no "trinkets", they are now selling books and coffee cups The staff was nice but honestly, there were a couple of folks who worked there that were just unfriendly and seemed very moody. That didn't match my first experience which was warm and welcoming - we almost felt as though we were bothering one gal in particular if we stopped to ask her a question and I was scolded for refilling half and half at the coffee area (I went into the main fridge to grab the creamer to refill it and thought I was being helpful but apparently not). Also for the price, we were hoping for more than continental breakfasts and if meals were not provided, perhaps access to the microwave at the very leas. I haven't eaten so many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for years! One other aspect that was a bit off-putting was before the start of a meeting, we were asked to be careful and not park on the newly-renovated marble sidewalks that cost "$20,000.00 to make" on the first night and the night before we left, cost "$25,000.00." The sidewalks are lovely, but when the house there are leaflets all around stating the house is run "purely on donations," it just gave us pause. Again - the history and nostalgia of the Wilson House is unmatched so all in all, I'm most certain we will return in the future!

Where is one to find access to this kind of distracting technology in the hills of, specifically, Weston, VT? The nearest open Library - in Londonderry, of course. The library was open, and the staff wonderfully helpful! The had a good supply of books, an even better supply of amazing history, and best of all, a strong and free WiFi! I published my article, and since it was raining (POURING!) when I wanted to leave, stayed to chat with the man minding the building. He was great to talk with, and offered some warm and welcoming insights to the library and area. We talked about a lot, including the Weston Priory where I was headed. If you need a quiet spot to get a good book, or just to get some things done, check out this gem.
