Great product and most of the staff are knowledgeable and friendly! One of the cashiers (Aislyn?) has been rude and I get a sense of dread when she has to wait on me but for the most part everyone else has been great at being kind and helpful! Kristin has helped me find good treats for my pups, Alex has given good advice on how to get my fish feeling up to par when her swim bladder was a little messed up and Ryan has assisted in answering questions about birds and my future plans for reptiles! This review would be glowing had it not been for the state of the Betta display. This store has an awesome selection of pets and pet needs. We focused on the aquatic section though. My husband and I are newer to the aquarium and fish keeping hobby and stopped in to check the guys out. They have an amazing fish room, with both salt and freshwater fish and live corals. There's tons of decor, aquariums and setup items for sale. But, and this is a huge but, their Betta display is awful. They don't have the Bettas separated from each other so they are stressing them out by leaving them to look at each other. Many were laying on their sides or had stress stripes. They're also in tiny little plastic containers. The larger bettas could hardly turn around in them. They absolutely need cleaner and bigger displays, which I know is possible based off the setup on the fish room. Get on it! read more

Coming from the Twin Cities, I think this is actually a great shop with a good variety of things for all kinds of pets at reasonable prices. I even wish there was a local shop like this that I liked in the cities. My partner and I got a few aquatic creatures that would have been double the price at other pet shops like Petco/Petsmart. I like how they have cute signs/bird houses as well that you can get to decorate your home. There is a cute random little walkthrough bridge inside that we like going through too. The staff are ok, some are knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely going to come back here to get treats for my dogs when I'm in Mankato. read more

This place was so awesome! We went to try to find a male hamster but we were a day late & ended up with a cart full of other items lol! Great prices on our bird house, feeders & heated bird bath. Even walked out with dog & human clothes. We don't get out at all due to COVID-19 & this was so worth the outing! The staff, ALL were amazing! We made our way through all departments too. They were so friendly & helpful. Even the patrons in the store were friendly! Maybe it's a Mankato thing? Thank you all for being so friendly! We will be back for sure! Thank you to the manager on duty for being helpful, it was fun learning about the store & how it used to be a roller rink! This place is a cesspool of rape and murder. Rats may not be the most liked or popular animal at the store, but they do not deserve the inhumane treatment they experience there. They keep the male and female rats in the same cages so that the female rat can be repeatedly raped and become pregnant only for their babies to be fed to snakes because they are too cheap to buy alternative food. I purchased rats from there and both of them were female and pregnant. (I called management and they told me that they weren't able to tell which rats were pregnant and that it's normal to be sold a pregnant rat, but when I recently visited an employee was able to tell me which rats were pregnant immediately upon seeing them). They never informed us that the rats could be/are pregnant. So when I came home and my rat was bleeding all over the cage and surrounded by her living and dead offspring I was thoroughly disturbed. I ended up taking the babies to the pet expo where I was repeatedly assured that they would be adopted by another pregnant mother. But I recently visited again and was told by an employee that when rats have babies, they usually feed the babies to a snake alive. So I was repeatedly lied to by management saying they were going to take care of the babies and another mother rat would adopt them. Disgusting place and empolyees are rude for bo reason. read more

Horrible experience. Went in to purchase a goldfish for my three year old daughter. When I said we already had a small tank I was told that anything smaller than a twenty gallon tank would cause them to suffocate in their own filth. And that their "internal organs will continue to grow and cause deformities". "Im not trying to shame you or anything". Sir, that's exactly what you have done. Over a $4.99 goldfish, you have lost a customer forever. read more

This is my go-to pet supplies store. The variety is excellent, from bird cages to cat food to small animal supplies! My favorite aspect is that they actually care about their animals and put the time in to interact with them and really get to know them (unlike PetSmart or Petco). The workers are always super nice and knowledgeable and try to get you the right product or animal (and not just try to upsell you to make money). Overall, a great store with great employees and great variety. 10/10 read more

This pet store is awesome! The workers are SO helpful! A worker named Melissa helped us the whole time and was very knowledgeable! She even made our new pets bigger boxes with bedding and food to take them home in since we have a long drive. Not to mention the cool forest display called "Grandma's backyard" and the awesome fish room! I HIGHLY recommend this pet shop! read more

DONT BUY ANIMALS FROM HERE. Everyone who left a review is saying how cool the place is and not talking about the animals. I've bought 2 guinea pigs from here that died within 3 days. I bought one about 4 months ago and it had died and they said I can exchange or get a refund so I got a refund and bought one from petsmart (my guinea pig is perfectly fine). I had bought another 3 days ago and saw she was loosing a lot of fur. I had brought her back and told a worker my concerns and they said she was fine. Next day she died. I called and they said to come and and they will deal with it. They did not and tried to blame me for not taking care of it (which is not the case because my other guinea pig is still perfectly fine. The one from petsmart is female and so was the one that died). I then tell them how I had brought her the day befor and the coworker had backed me up and then they had given me my refund. read more

I love this store!! It is amazing the business they get! Pet Expo employees are so helpful and well trained in every department!! Every time I have a question, someone either has an answer or takes their time to figure it out and call back. Even if they can't help, I appreciate that they understand their limitations and Admit when they don't know! What business does that? I have heard people will drive 2 hrs just to come to Pet Expo and even heard people on the coasts can't find a store like ours and order things to be delivered to your house!!
