I recently went here with a friend who's looking for a dog to adopt and was really impressed with…read morethe standard and organisation of this facility. All on the one block of land, there's the adoption centre and a big RSPCA pet store, where, if you adopt an animal, you can go straight away to stock up on things to care for your new pet. Upon walking into the adoption centre, staff are friendly and welcoming and eager to help if you have any questions about the process or need advice about what type of animal to adopt. All animals available for adoption are in the RSPCA database, so you can actually search online before going there. It's mostly dogs available for adoption here, but I saw some little guinea-pig hutches and a few cats too. The dogs are each kept in their own little room with a screen telling you their name, breed, age, with a little bit of information about their temperament and needs. Some of them have a half door open through which you can reach in and give them a cuddle. Adopting a dog from RSPCA will set you back around $300, but they come desexed and vaccinated, so it's pretty good value and you get to give a dog a new home.

I use them because they have flea and tick treatments for cats and dogs which are usually at least $10 less than what you would pay anywhere else (and they do get expensive). They also deliver promptly which is also another good thing as you will never go without whatever you order. They also stock the premium range of dog food like your Royal Canin or Eukanuba in large quantities and they actually have a doggy undercoat rake for breeds like the Chow Chow, Siberian Husky or like my dog the Japanese Spitz. Saves me having to take her to the groomers now, prices are really good, the undercoat rake usually goes for $30-$40 if you can find it (you can't really) but they sold it for $15.80. The medicated shampoos (the full vet range too) go for at least $5 less than what you would pay at the vet as well. The medicated shampoo and conditioner we bought from the vet cost us $31 for both and here it would be $24 and they sell the bigger bulk bottles too, not just the small skinny tubes that wouldn't last long if you were bathing 3 dogs or a few large ones. Smell nice though! They have a great dane dog walking around too who is so beautiful and weights 60kgs so go to give him a pat too!

Please keep in mind this is over $15 return postage cost... absolutely absurd. Never experienced that bad customer service in my life online or in store. They have hermit crabs!!! They have hermit crab and bug set ups (even more than the other pet stores)!! They even have cool (healthy looking) guppy fish. Oh and chickens!!! They have a chicken coup with little chicks you can buy and raise so you can have your own fresh eggs for those who like to pretend you are farm-living-city-dwelling folk. Not many of you out there, but you know who you are! "I have chickens" is not a good ice breaker at a party, but there is enough interest to make you sound a little bit above normal, and possibly cool. Who am I kidding, i just want to pat those little suckers forever. But sadly, we all know they poo. And it takes a lot of effort and responsibility to raise these chicks into mature chickens to cook or lay eggs. Staff here are friendly and happy to babble with you about whatever strange habit and animal you have, which is a good thing in a pet store. The store is spacious, clean and organised, I'll be back for more bones for my dog.
