    Speaking of Dogs Rescue

Despite submitting a detailed application and following up with a handful of emails over the course…read moreof a month, I have not received a response whatsoever - I've been completely ghosted by Lorraine and her team. I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Speaking of Dogs Rescue. The lack of communication is extremely frustrating and unprofessional, especially given the time and effort put into completing their ultra tedious application form. As someone who is genuinely eager to provide a loving home for a dog, it's so disheartening that I am not given the time for a simple email reply. There is no reason that an agency should not prioritize clear communication or even common courtesy and respect with prospective adopters; I'm just trying to do the right thing!

Stay far away. As many have written, Lorraine is quite short and rude on the phone. We got past…read morethat because there was a 7 month old poodle with a hole in her heart (Juniper) that we felt could be our new family member after losing our 15 yr old poodle in December. Sent in our application, met the dog at the foster family and we thought this was going well! References checked and all good. The 'house visit' was done by pictures and video. My 2M house was deemed not suitable because my backyard has a pool and I ONLY have an 8 foot by 40 foot side yard with artificial turf. Really???? Dogs need real grass in a backyard??? She's and 14 pound dog who would get daily walks and trips to a dog park. Also, now, after we meet her and fall in love they want her to be with another dog in the home....now they decide this after keeping me on the hook for a month??? How convenient. We were willing to foster to adoption, take her to Guelph as often as required for heart surgery etc........and I work from home to stay with her all day....but I'm not suitable..?? This experience has totally turned me off the rescue world. I understand rescues wanting to find a good home IE not an abusive household, but I'm not suitable because I only have a side yard? What about all those wonderful pet parents who live in apartments or condos?? I now see why there are so many dogs in foster or rescues....it's just too difficult and heartbreaking to go through this.... Thanks to Lorraine, we are going to be part of the 'problem' and find a breeder and buy a dog.
