Update... The small dog area is still not as nicely kept as the larger area. I'm not sure why there is still no grass there. I like the separation between large and small dogs. My cavalier doesn't mind playing with the larger dogs but he definitely has more fun with dogs his size. I like that you can go on PETA's page and view the dog run prior to going. Here's the link.. https://spotlight.peta.org/petadogpark/ FYI, to protect the water fowl, the pup access to the river is no longer available.

This is THE BEST DOG PARK in Tidewater! Tons of shade, lots of grass, no mud, extremely well maintained area! No dog poop on the ground, lots of fresh water bowls, two CLEAN baby pools to cool off in. A pergola with a cool( temperature) stone floor, shade for humans and dogs. Breeze from the waterfront, 2 divided sections, lots of poop scoopers and tennis balls. Even a few chuck-it sticks for throwing the ball. Seriously, I would pay to bring my dogs here. We visited on a Monday between 9:30 and 12:00. Only saw 3 other dogs. 10/10! Side note: There is NO access to the Elizabeth River water.. Dogs can not swim here.

Very sad looking park. Not impressed with the landscape. Not very spacious. The fence is too short for XL dogs that could jump over easy. My medium size dog could jump this no problem. Dogs are not allowed to swim in river. That was the reason I brought my 2 boys. Shaggy loves water and it's perfect exercise for him . Blue just like to walk around and explore. I won't be coming back here unless they decide to open up access to the river. I recommend this park if you have tiny dogs that don't require a lot of space to run around.

My fur babies LOVE coming to this dog park! It's a great space with water access. We usually bring our dogs here if they are in need of a bath because they almost always get in the water. My dogs really enjoy the open area and the size of the park-it's huge! It's great for big dogs because there is plenty of room for them to run around and play. There is a ramp in both parks that lead right into the water. This is where our dog first learned how to swim! They also have a water station, several pools, and plenty of toys. This is by the far the best kept dog park I have been to in Norfolk. Make sure you check their hours before going because the park closes some days of the week (for clean up and maintenance). The smaller park adjacent to the main one is open 7 days a week. If you are interested in seeing if there are any dogs at the park before you head out, check on their website. They have a camera set up, which allows you to see in the park-pretty neat!

Great dog park in downtown Norfolk! We LOVE to take our dogs here and they always have a blast. We don't get to go here but every two weeks because we tend to want to give our pups a bath after swimming in the Elizabeth River from the ramp access they have here, but they LOVE to swim in it! The park itself has a sheltered entrance with picnic tables, leading into a large grassy area, and bushes separating the dock from the grass that the dogs love to run under. It has a dock with a ramp entering the river. It also has 2 other water stations, one with a mini pool for the dogs to splash in. The people are very friendly! Your dog must be non-aggressive and must be fixed or else people may complain and PETA might tell you to leave, etc. but other than that everyone is great and the dogs are usually very good! We love this park and will continue to come back whenever we can!

Has a ramp for doggies to get in and play in the water! Lot's of doggie "propaganda" since the place is run by and right next to PETA. I choose to ignore it for the most part because it's hard not to bring my dog here. It's well kept, there's a doggie dock to play fetch in the water, and there's a nice watering/rinse off spot. They've got a beautiful covered area with picnic tables. The grass is soft.... there's shade. I love it! There's this big sign about how much dogs hate crate training but last time I talked to a crate trained dog he told me he kinda liked it.... just saying.

Fun times for all pups! I have been here several times this week and have not been disappointed yet. Three different people all recommended this as the absolute best dog park in the Norfolk area! Love the dock where dogs can opt to take a dip or run around the large yard area with all the other guests..there is some mud but what can you expect from a dog park!?! There is also a water spigot with bowls to quench any thirsts! Don't forget to donate to PETA for keeping this place running!!

Amazing dog park! This area has been made into a beautiful 'sanctuary' for dogs. There are a variety if toys, ramp for the dog to go into the water, a small and large dog play area, water hose and bucket, and plenty of a shade on a hot day. An amazing space for dogs to play and run around in. They should add some dog obstacle courses also. My dog loves this park!

I recently stumbled upon this quaint little neighborhood park in the Larchmount neighborhood of…read moreNorfolk. I have now enjoyed lunch with the kids a few times now and have really fallen in love with it's beauty. The description has this as a Dog Park, but it is not. However, it is a dog friendly park if the pooch is on a leash. The park is located directly behind ODU's Foreman Field and among small 1950-1960's residential homes. The current space has been utilized for a recreation area for a number of years, but the park as it exist today with it's playground equipment is around 10 years old. The entire area is shady which is a parents dream. Parking is off street only. I consider the area to be completely safe. The grounds are enclosed with an attractive black aluminum fence. A short run to the back is a tall wooden privacy fence. There are two gates with both having child safety locks. Bottom line is this is a secure play are for small children with great visual lines of sight to watch the kids enjoying themselves. I found the park spotless and grassy portion well manicured on my times visiting. There is a single trash can which is maintained by the city of Norfolk. Let's talk equipment, because it's cool. The central playground is a pirate ship. The second one has a slide and curly pole. There are also two sets of swings and one is for a toddler. I would consider the top age range for the playground to be 10-12. The ground cover around the equipment is mulch. A huge shaded grassy area for recreation is to the back. I consider this one of the best things about the park. There are some limitations to the park that anyone visiting should be aware of. However, keep in perspective this is a small neighborhood park. Only a few benches and a few tables are available to families. There is enough room for a small shelter and grills, but they do not have them. Also absent is a restroom facility and water fountain. So don't forget to bring something for the little ones to keep hydrated. I usually would not give a park a four without upgraded items like shelter and restrooms. This property is in another class with it being a neighborhood park in my opinion. I am sure this property is such a treasure for the neighborhood. I just could not help but fall in love with Bluestone Park when I first laid eyes on it and I think you will agree.

I thought it would be a lot larger but the spot is quite small but it is very nice to walk around. There are also lots of nice areas adjacent to the garden and terrace as well. I parked in front of the garden went around it and then found the USS Wisconsin and the Naval museum just past the garden. I went around and finished checking out the other side of the garden after. The parking was free for 2 hrs in front of the garden and it seemed like parking in general was plentiful and open this weekend. It looked like college dormitories around the garden and some other residential areas around the middle of downtown Norfolk. There were many nice plants in the garden, the terrace was nice but not open as far as I could tell, and the koi pond was nice if someone would clean out the pond scum from the fish pond. There were small bridges over the water and multiple water fountains in the koi pond. There were a few benches to sit on if you wanted to just relax or meditate in the garden. Overall, it was a nice garden but it is not something to go downtown to see, but it is a nice additional thing to see if you are going to the USS Wisconsin and the Naval museum or if you staying in downtown area. Lots of people were exercising (walking and jogging) so it is a nice scene to pass by if you are doing that.

Great spot to walk around. There's ice cream inside too! Very yummy. Beautiful day to explore.read more

But I didn't come for the cuteness of the pups, we came for the food lol. I have the chicken tacos and the fry flight. My son had the poodle dog with grilled onions and peppers with cheese sauce. He said it was very good wish I'd gotten him two. The guys who helped us were really nice guy's. The service was a bit of a wait, when we first came they told us it would be a 30 minute wait because the kitchen was a little backed up. Would come back to try some other things, the fry's were pretty good. I didn't really care for the chicken tacos. They were kinda just thrown together. But overall I'd come again.

When I arrived I walked to the back, and it was a cute setup for all our little furry friends to have fun, but for adults and kids to. There were lawn chairs, picnic tables, games, a side for leashed and unleashed dogs, and even a little wet area for the pups. It was also a bar/restaurant where you could eat inside or outside. The dogs aren't allowed in the inside part of the restaurant. The restaurant has hot dogs, sausages, Mac n cheese, burgers, tacos, and etc. The meals are reasonably priced. The hot dogs are thick, so your not getting a wimpy hot dog, it's meaty!! Lol. It might have been too much meat for me almost. You definitely get your money's worth!! The Mac n cheese was pretty good and cheesy, and the portion was great for the price. The fries we ok also. The area is really a vibe. It's chill and everyone is doing their own thing. They even have pup cups!! The dogs all seemed to be having a good time. When you walk in the smell of dogs hits you, but I don't have a dog so maybe that's why it's so strong. If you have a dog you probably won't even notice. Once I got used to that, it was fine. I think this is a fun little place to come wether you have a dog or not. Beer and alcohol are also served. The cocktails seem fun. My friend liked her spicy mango drink. The staff was also friendly! So yeah, check them out!!!!
