The boat was a 30 by 15 foot pontoon boat wonderfully decorated tiki style with ample comfortable seating no matter where you sit had a great view of the inlet.Learned a lot about the inlet on the cruise over to our first destination lots of bars restaurants and beautiful houses cruising down the river every one waving at us. We arrive at the dock and went to Captain Mark's boat.We told him 2 seniors and my service dog. He told me we would have to wait for any other people that showed up to see if they were alright with my service animal. I told him my dog was a service animal plus I even told him she was a seizure alert dog . I even showed him her tag which I carry on her carrier with her license number and picture. He could also scan it to see all my dog's information. I told him it was against the law what he was doing but he just told me he wasn't going to argue with me.He had it turned around, we should have been allowed on the boat and anyone who was not comfortable with it could choose not to go. He said we had to wait just in case someone was afraid of dogs or had allergies. After he made me feel so uncomfortable all I wanted to do is leave this little town Edenton NC and our beautiful day was destroyed. I would tell anyone thinking of going with this man that is so prejudiced against someone with a handicap to think twice. He's not someone you would want to spend any time around! I will be reporting Captain Mark for an ADA violation so hopefully other individuals with a disability won't have to encounter this like we did.

We particularly like the fact the Forrest Service only allows one rafting company at a time on the river. There were no traffic jams on the river or groups of rafts competing for the same rapids or resting spots. It is a long day of rafting, but it's a beautiful river with NO development. There is one nice wide family slide for everyone. There is one super steep one that my six year old braved successfully. The last two are like a twisty open one and then a twisty closed tube style. No life jackets are allowed on the slides but the lifeguards literally stand there and catch your kids and take them back to the side to get out and go again. I was there by myself outnumbered and nervous about my nonswimming kids and no life jackets but quickly relaxed and realized my kids were safe and having the time of their lives. The lifeguards were happy to pass my kids to me but also totally fine if I got out to go do the family slide with one of them if needed. That's always the tricky part of being outnumbered by kids - when the pack wants to split up and I can't be two places at once. Anyway the snack bar food was pretty terrible but pizza was alright. You can bring in a cooler though. Next time I'll pack a full picnic for everyone. They do a lot of adult swims so the lifeguards can rotate but that gives everyone a chance to grab a snack and potty and also gave us a nice window to exit. The pool temp was fantastic and the water was clean. It's a government facility so there's some stuff that could use an upgrade naturally but for $10 a person I was impressed!

Other than that small detail (I had to stop at a reenlistment picnic to ask someone for directions), it is a smash hit and we love it! I am only bummed we didn't know about it last summer! Admission is $6 for active duty, retirees, reservists, & eligible family members, $8 for guests (up to 2 guests per adult w/ ID), kids 3 and under are free. Season passes are based on the number of people in your family... 1= $60, 2= $110, 3= $135, 4= $170, 5= $200, 6= $225 Despite the website's direction that no outside food is allowed and you must purchase food from concessions, *EVERYONE* brings a cooler with lunch in it. So, pack away and save yourself a fortune in concession stand prices. This is a clean and well-maintained facility, for sure. They offer pavilion rental and swimming lessons, which is great! One thing you'll want to warn your kids about ahead of time is "adult swim time" which is a 15 minute break for the kids from the pool they allows the adults to enjoy the facilities (and helps prevent sun-poisoned, exhausted kids)... my kids were upset because adult swim happened 10 mins after we arrived. Oops! There is plenty of seating and it's not so crazy (or wasn't today) that there are long lines... if you get here in time to snag a table, you'll have shade under an umbrella, but annoyingly, people fill the tables with their stuff (even though they aren't sitting there) and you'll be left without shade unless you plan ahead. The snack bar is an array of popsicles, string cheese, burgers, and preservative-packed packaged food that will run you between $0.50 and $5.00 per item. Not terrible on price, really, but far from health-friendly. Better than nothing! For $6/$8 per person, it's a great time. Pack a lunch to save more money, bring as many friends as you can fit in your car. We will be back!

This was an experience that we will never forget! I mean everything was great. The website was very clear when scheduling and we were able to pay for our whole evening before even stepping out on the boat. Our host/captain Jon, was friendly and very accommodating. My husband is big into music and he was able to choose the tunes for the evening. We were allowed to bring some drinks of our choice. Beth showed up with dinner right as we were getting on the boat, she was so sweet and dinner was delicious! We probably ordered more than we even needed haha but everything was spot on! The night was beautiful which I'm sure helps but the ride out to the sunset was so smooth and that's saying a lot because I'm currently pregnant right now! There was absolutely no tension at all. Jon was amazing and offered to take pictures. Once we got in direct view of the sunset he stopped the boat and let us get out on the back to watch it go down. The colors in the sky were absolutely gorgeous! The ride back was just as pleasant and relaxing. With the night settling in and the lights in the boat getting brighter the vibes were something out of a romance novel or something! This company is locally owned and also offers water sports during the day!! We will definitely be coming back for more adventures and telling all of our friends about it! I recently went jet skiing here and unfortunately my experience was not very welcoming. The staff member who assisted me came across as rude and dismissive, treating me as though I was incompetent rather than taking the time to guide me. At one point, he even asked if I was drunk, which was inappropriate and offensive considering I was completely sober and simply dealing with the sun in my face. When I was directed to turn left, the jet ski wasn't responding smoothly, so I briefly corrected by steering right before turning back left. Instead of offering constructive assistance, the staff member chose to act as if I didn't know my left from my right, which felt unprofessional and unnecessary. This outing was part of my birthday weekend. Overall, I was looking forward to an enjoyable experience on the water, but the lack of respect and professionalism left me disappointed. BEST THING WE'VE EVER DONE!!! This is our fourth year coming to Virginia Beach for our annual family vacation. Each year I try to do one big "splurge" activity - my kids are teens and I know we only have a few more of these family vacations left. This was hands down the most fun we have ever had. Jon was friendly, and super accommodating, as well as experienced and knowledgeable. His boat was beautiful and spotless. We chose to tube and he maneuvered the boat to give us the most exciting ride! My daughter was laughing so hard she couldn't sit up and hold on at one point. You could tell Jon really loved showing the kids a good time. And then there were dolphins! Wow...what an amazing day, filled with smiles, watersports and even a few dolphin sightings! John is the most amazing captain, he's is fantastic with kids...patient, engaging, and a great instructor. My family felt like we had known him for years. Tubing, wake boarding and water skiing all in one day. It was so fun, easy and exceeded our expectations! Highly recommend. Jon is a stellar Captain! My boyfriend, my bonus child, and I had a fabulous morning. Jon guided his boat from the dock to the Chesapeake Bay while providing us with his vast knowledge of the Virginia Beach local history. We even saw 2 otters on the way!! What a treasure!! We would give 10 stars if we could. Captain Jon has a fantastic personality and was there to make sure we had fun and stayed safe. He had all the water toys and PFDs in a variety of sizes for our family. His boat is sparkling clean. He was a patient teacher for things we had never done before like water skiing and wake boarding. Wow--Such an amazing find. We have been enjoying water skiing, tubing and wake boarding for years at VA Beach, but nothing compares to the skiing, tubing and wake boarding we enjoyed with Captain John. We have three teens, and Captain John taught them skills-like how to jump the wake, etc...The boat was in pristine condition, and we felt safe and had so much fun. Honestly, my kids had the BEST time. We had a group of 6 people and I'm not kidding, we probably caught 40 fish between all of us--mostly Croaker. We kept a handful to do the "biggest fish pool" challenge, but didn't win. My boys were disappointed about that, but has nothing to do with Rudee Tours. Really professional captain and crew--the first mates were super friendly and nice. They also were super attentive to my boys and engaged with them a lot, which made them feel very special. Had a fabulous time and will totally be back. It's worth the money and was beautiful watching the sun go down.

Once back in the boat, we got to enjoy watching the other three groups of people have their turn. Each group (couple) got to be in the air about 5 minutes, then get dipped in the water toward the end, then back up in the air before landing on the boat. The rougher the water, the more likely someone will get seasick while riding in the boat. The operators provide sick bags and have an awesome sense of humor! And a great playlist!

It was my first time paddle boarding and Randy set me up for success. He goes over proper technique and calms your nerves if your a first-timer like me. We stayed in the inlet and paddled to a nest of bald eagles, and even saw a fledgling testing out its wings. The group he'd taken out earlier that day went into the ocean and they saw dolphins! I am definitely booking another paddle board adventure with RISUP so I can try out paddle boarding in the ocean. If you see Alfonse, the bald eagle, on your RISUP adventure, say hi to her from me!

The flat water tour was very low key and accessible for those who are not used to these activities. Felt comfortable the entire way through. I will recommend having something on your stomach and being hydrated esp on hot days, as with any activity on the water. Booking is easy, getting there is easy, the safety precautions are in place (life jackets, etc) and definitely worth the ticket price. Would recommend these guys and this activity to anyone looking for something fun to do as a family.
