Our dog Budhi (Japanese Spitz) had just come to live with us (we adopted her at 1.5 years old) and she had started throwing up her food every morning. Being a bit worried, and the consult fee here is pretty comparative $55-$59 we thought we'd give them a try. Dr Antje Costanzo saw our dog and was very good at telling us what to do, how to fast and other options to make her feel better. I also wanted to know a bit more about Advantix verses the Advocate that I had been using because they didn't cover worming... and Andrew at the counter was very good at pointing me in the right direction. We left feeling pretty good about our visit. Having said that, we usually feel pretty good about vets when we leave unless we're going there to put a dog down. What really blew us away was the follow up call 2 days later from Antje herself asking us how we were going and if everything was okay. And if there was anything please let her know... we had never received a follow up call from a vet before nor our own pet folder. So this definetely impressed us and we will definetely be back.

Every time we walk in, my puppy Churro and I are happily greeted by the staff. Churro particularly likes Andrew (the cool guy at reception) and whenever they see each other at the vet, my pup does a little pee because of all the excitement. The staff are so friendly and helpful. They always play with Churro while we wait for our appointment and love to exchange tips and share stories about other pets they've met. Dr Lucilla Pratt is Churro's vet. She is very patient with my impatient puppy who squirms- a lot! On the first visit we had, Churro was so anxious and seemed scared, Dr Lucilla gave him a dried pigs ear treat for him to teethe on- after that, they became best of friends. Dr Lucilla is always happy answer all the questions I have and even writes little notes to help me. After every check up, Churro is guaranteed cuddles and playtime with Dr Lucilla, which is just so heart warming to see. It's great to go to a vet who seem to love and care about your pet as much as you do. They have a lot of goodies in stock for your pet and great products. Andrew at reception is very helpful, if you're stuck with any questions I'm sure he'd be happy to help.

As soon as we got there, multiple volunteers were happy to talk, answer any questions and take kitties out of their cages for us to pat and play with. The cats looked well cared for and in good health. For me, choosing just one cat was a very different decision, and my partner and I spent well over an hour at the shelter. I apologised to the volunteers for taking so long to come to a decision, but they reassured me that I have nothing to apologise for as it's a very big decision and the last thing they want is for us to go home with the wrong pet for our lifestyle. Finally, I came to the decision of adopting a gorgeous domestic medium-hair kitty named Lilo. The volunteers were very helpful throughout the entire process, providing us with a cardboard box carrier and blanket free of charge, going through all necessary paperwork, and showing us which brand/type of food and litter we needed to purchase to help the cat transition into her new home. Overall, I had a very positive experience at this shelter, and will definitely be coming back if I decide to get another furry baby!

Lola (the dog) has been shedding fur like crazy all summer, so we also got her a de-moulting/de-shedding treatment. In total it cost $55 for all of this. The doggy spa is a big room out the back where all the dogs wait for their treatments, and then get spoilt rotten and pampered. Lola was a bit scared when we handed her leash to the girl, but when we returned an hour later, she was totally loving the staff and this place. There were lots of other dogs for her to play with too. The Pet Pad offers other services including Pawdicures (pedicure for the paws!), Pet Day Care (either a half or full day of toys, treats, games, soft beds, in-house movies and loads of snuggles, awwww), Dog walking, Pet sitting and even house calls! Knowing the suburb it operates in, I knew there'd be no way the pooches of New Farm and surrounds would continue to visit here if they weren't good at what they do. I dropped him off yesterday for a "feet, face and tail" grooming session and after showing the staff member a photo of past grooming disasters to demonstrate what I didn't want, I knew, from her facial expression, we were on the same page. Less than an hour later I was on my way back to pick him up. The grooming a success. He still looked like a dog and not an old man with mutton chops. But like Sun E said in her review, the price is so very reasonable for the service. I would have expected I'd be parting with a lot more for the quality of grooming he received.
