Friendly, helpful staff and one of the better supplies of fish, shrimp and snails. Most Petco's seem to be in the midst of redesigning their space which is nice but does hamper the supply and variety of some things. This Petco was clean and as well organized as possible with reorganizing going on. I've been on several occasions and Saturday evening was by far the busiest time with lots of families and pets shopping. Team members were very nice and offered advice about my purchase and it was awesome not to have to find someone to help me but rather someone offer to help me. read more

Horrible service!! was told by the salon manager that it was inhumane to ask them to scissor cut my golden doodle. The salon manager originally told me it would take three hours to brush out three small mats and to trim a golden doodle she gave me a price of 150 once I agreed to the price she then told me it is inhumane to do that and that she would only shave my dog. She is extremely rude and always acts like she doesn't want to do the services they provide this isn't the first problem be had I will never go back !!! read more

Absolutely love the groomers here! They always do a great job and he loves his spa days. He always comes home and smells great. The groomers are always super friendly too! So thankful for this PetCo! read more

If you have read my reviews I am typically NOT a fan of Petco's. All of the Petco's in the area I live in smell like used pet bedding (think dirty diapers or urine-soaked wood pulp). I came in here, took a breath and smelled - nothing! I walked around and there was an employee changing the bedding in small pet cages! Novel idea right? So looks like this Petco has some responsible employees which is great. This Petco also has a groomer (many don't) who was very nice. My mother has a standard poodle and because of his age, Petsmart will not groom him any longer. We spoke to the groomer here and she said that she just needs a note from a vet saying he is healthy and she will groom him. There was plenty of toys and food. I even found a gigantic plushy for my great dane and he loves it!! There also keep cats from local rescues which can be adopted. So great addition to Alexandria! read more

Alexandria is in desperate need of good customer service! I've lived all over the US and have experienced exceptional and poor customer service most everywhere. However, my first visit to Petco was quite alarming. There were two ladies unloading pallets near the dog food, where I was searching for the food we feed our dogs. Neither of them offered any help or spoke to me. I continued to look for the brand of food I needed to buy. They continued to talk between themselves. I eventually found the food I was looking for and went to front register. (I forgot to mention, I WAS greeted by a young lady when I walked in.) The same young lady (her tag said Darian) asked if I found everything I was looking for. I said, finally, but with no help from the ladies in the dog food section! She apologized and said they were the managers! Wait! What? The young lady then asked about what kind of dogs I had, etc. When I mentioned my son had a new python snake and was wanting to buy him something for it, but wasn't sure what would be a good idea, she asked for help in reptiles over the intercom. One of the managers (shoulder length brown hair, I think her name was Aaron?) came to front and scrutinized the cashier in front of myself and another customer. In a very condescending voice, she spatted off "I didn't understand anything you said". The other cashier (colored hair) then said "she said REPTILES!". I ended up leaving, as I did not have the patience to deal with someone in a bad mood because she had to leave what she was doing to help a customer! A week later, I went back in to grab some Greenies. The same manager was there, as well as the cashier that helped me the first day and another young lady with a mask on. Both cashiers were very friendly. As I was walking to the back of the store. I heard the manager tell one of the cashiers "NO! NO! NO!", she was very snarky. The cashier looked at me and I just winked at her. As I was checking out with the girl with mask, I jokingly said "your boss woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning"! She said, "she's always like that"! Wow! I'd hate to know I had to work in an environment like that for minimum wage! I've been in management for over 30 years. I would NEVER talk to one of my employees in such a way. read more

This is the worst pet store I have ever been to. The staff here does not care to wait on you in any way. It is get in and get out. I tried on to different occations to buy fish and got a don't bug me attitude. I will never go back to this store again. read more

Did a great job with my rescue dog whose afraid of almost everything. Were willing to take care of her even though she had an injured leg.

I came by to look at the ferrets, because I have been looking to own a ferret. Well, I asked to hold one and the woman that was going to assist me asked my age and I told her I was 17. Well her response was,"sorry you can't hold them" and she went to walk away. Thankfully my cousin was there and she told her that she is my guardian so the woman let me hold the ferret but kept getting snappy at me and had an ugly attitude towards me. A few minutes later she said,"okay give it back I've got to get back to work" and took the ferret from me. We decided to leave and as we were backing out of the parking lot we saw the same woman walking over to Krogers smoking a cigarette. Yea you had to get back to work alright. Very upset and I will be going elsewhere to adopt my ferret! read more

This review is not for the store in Alexandra, it is for entire Petco. Whatever fish I bought from them, either they are sick or dying. It all started when I first bought Blue Tang and it has ick. I purchased the Blue Tang from their store in Kenner La. There is no ick in my tank, before I purchased the Blue Tang. As per the company policy there is no warranty when the saltwater fish is purchased from the store. After few day the ick spread. I treat them with some medication but one of my Clown Fish died in the process. When the treatment is over and I don't see any ick I waited for few weeks and purchased a Koran Angle from their store in Alexandria, LA. Just in two weeks his eyes are cloudy. Exactly Eight days ago I purchased a Flame Angel from their Alexandria store, It also comes with ick and now I'm again treating them for ick. And today on 3/17/2014 when I wake up my Flame Angle died too. I called to their customer service and after almost 35 min of hold and five min of conversation the agent very polity pardon me and blame me that there is something wrong with my setup. She said this after 10-15 min of conversation with her supervise; the supervisor never came to the phone. So do yourself a favor and don't buy any fish from Petco. There fishes are sick either you buy from Kenner La or Alexandria La or from anywhere. If the readers are agree with my above post, please spread it around. Thank You, read more
