Young lady that works in the fish area is simply rude and unhelpful so I will never come back to get anything from them.

My puppies have been at in between ages when I've had them in Super Puppy but it has always worked out well. I'm not sure about this pup and her age. I just got her 2 days ago. I will see what the professionals say.

You get what you pay for here. We did not learn anything new. I am a new dog owner so I was excited…read morefor these classes because I did not know how to train my Collie/Malamute, but honestly I feel like I wasted my money and time here. In our 2nd session, the trainer started grabbing her corgi's balls. She was caressing them and told us to do the same. She said that her dog liked that. Nope. That's borderline beastiality. In addition, the instructor is rude. She's got an assistant that I believe is scared of her because she will come to you quickly and tell you to do what the instructor wants or else the woman is going to get mad. Most sessions, the trainer just walked around talking a lot and saying anecdotes. She had string cheese and would pull it out and give it to her dog. It was like 45 minutes of talking and talking and then 15 minutes of actual training. I went to Ankeny's Kai's Dog Training for a free half hour session. I learned more than what I learned at the Cyclone Country Kennel Club's 6 week classes. In Ankeny the results are impressive. I was very surprised that I could get my dog to sit next to me without having to yell at her or grunt at her (which is what the other instructor wanted us to do). My dog always jumps on people and in Ankeny's half hour session, was able to train my dog not to do that. I would rather pay more, but know that I will get good results. The place is not big enough either. Maybe three cars fit in there. My class had 6 dogs and that was pushing it because there was not a lot of space to do good training. Not to mention that they are kind of obsessed with showing your dogs. They will mention it a lot to you that you should show your dog. Nope. I am not there to show my dog. DO NOT waste your money or time here. It will be pointless. Invest in your dog and take them to a good place. They deserve it.

I cannot praise Plucky Paws and Stephanie enough! I adopted a sweet adult Maltese/Bichon, Jordi,…read morein June and quickly realized that he had issues with body handling and other dogs. I contacted Stephanie and she put together a detailed training schedule that was tailored specifically for Jordi. We talked about Jordi's specific behavior and reactions so that she could better understand and get to know Jordi. Throughout training, Stephanie sent me articles, infographics about body handling and observable doggy behavior, and other short reading materials that would help me train Jordi on my own and get to know his situation a little bit better. After the training cycle with Stephanie had ended, Jordi can now jump in and out of the tub all on his own, can sit and lay on command, and is so much more comfortable with a muzzle when it comes to grooming! For an adult dog who was very stuck in his ways, he has come such a long way! Stephanie... I cannot thank you enough! Thank you for making me a better dog owner and giving me the opportunity to establish a strong bond with my precious boy! Both he and I look forward to little training sessions everyday! Stephanie at Plucky Paws genuinely wants you and your dog to train and learn together. I could see her compassion for Jordi and her job just radiate from her body every time she came over! I am not kidding.... Stephanie knows what she is doing!!

I filled out the information request form on the Plucky Paws website. Stephanie replied back and…read moreadvised she will not take clients that use pronged collars, which I understand and respect. One of the (many) reasons we are seeking training is so we can walk comfortably and safely without using it. She said if we can commit to stop using the collar, along with a few other things, we can schedule a $155 consultation with her. The way this was communicated came across as kind of rude, but I thought maybe I was just reading in to it too much (spoiler: I wasn't). I wrote back, told Stephanie those were absolutely things I can commit to, but that we had scheduled a meeting with another trainer and would contact her if things didn't work out. The communication I received from Stephanie after this was very rude, condescending, and accusatory. I would never want to work with someone who communicates with ANYONE, let alone potential clients, the way Stephanie communicated with me.
