This is for the grooming section- I had a grooming appointment booked for over 2 months for my dog for 8:30 am. I drove all the way across town with a car sick dog only for the entire store to be closed, including the grooming section. I tried to call, but no one answered. Finally, when I looked again at the app, it said "appointment cancelled". There was no call, no text, no communication of any kind. This is not the first time that has happened. It took nearly 2 weeks to get an appointment. When I arrived for my appointment, this jerk named Tyler said that the appointment was set for a small dog and not my standard sized poodle. I asked how they could not know this as they pulled up her record and confirmed who she was when I made the appointment. I have been there multiple times with the last time being in February. He then told me that my dog should be groomed every 6-8 weeks and her hair was too long and mangled for them to groom her and I would have to take her to a veterinarian. Seriously? Who takes their dog to a veterinarian for grooming? I told him that this had not been a problem in the past and that it had been just 2 months (8 weeks) since I had her in with 2 weeks being their fault because they were short staffed. I am 71 years old, live across town, am on oxygen and have multiple health problems. He watched me struggle bringing her in. I asked if he could at least give her a bath and trim around her face and feet. He said that would just mangle her hair more. I guess they don't have products like hair conditioner or detangler spray for dogs at Petco that he could have utilized (buzzz -actually I confirmed that they do). I was so upset that when I got into my car I could not catch my breath. They are the ones that messed up the appointment, not me. They were the ones refusing service to a dog who had been there previously with hair longer than it is now. How does this guy even qualify as a groomer? He definitely knows nothing about customer service. He actually hollered have a nice day when I left. What an arrogant ass, Fire him before you lose more customers. read more

Bought fish from here two angelfish within four days later my whole tank had fish ick then I had medicate my tank which resulted in HALF of my fish tank dying. HALF. Went into get some things this afternoon and went to pricematch to chewy.com. The guy at the front (David) told me that his manager told him he cannot do that. Only to petco.com after showing him petco's website stating that they indeed can pricematch to chewy, petsmart, Walmart, target etc, he still refused. I then asked to speak with his "manager" that told him he couldn't do it. He then TOOK HIS MASK OFF, stepped closer to me and said he was the manager, Contradicting himself. Like do you report to yourself!?? If they do not allow price matching in the stores I suggest they make that crystal clear on their website and say VARIES BY LOCATION. I called for information about getting my dog groomed and the associate told me to call back because the salon manager wasn't in and they could give me some information. I called back and spoke to Madus the salon manager. Explained to him that I'm not sure what's right for my dog so I needed some guiding, he was extremely rude and not helpful whatsoever. I then asked if there was a one 1800 number or a different number that I could call and I got hung up on. I have gotten shots at the clinic there and they are more than helpful but I am not sure what the issue was guiding me in the right direction of what was the best fit for my dogs breed and age. I had a appointment made on line. They had changed my time from 3:15 up to 2:00. Got the dogs there and they informed me they could only Bath and groom dogs but no haircut. I take them there because they are hard to get in and out of car. They told me after getting them inside, I could take them back if I didn't want what they had. So I left them. They also informed me that one of the groomers just left because the son just tested positive for covid. Not sure how that works for everyone involved. They also informed me that they Had 10 dogs to do that day and that it was gonna be a long time I said that was fine it usually takes them 2 to 3 hours anyway. I can't say enough about this Petco location and Lacey Jo in the grooming department. My husband I were camping just outside of Colorado Springs. We are from Denver, CO. We had a family emergency and needed to make a trip to Pueblo. It was a Sunday and there were no doggy daycare locations open. I called Petco to make a grooming appointment as that would give us a couple of hours without our pup while we went to the hospital. I explained the situation to Lacey Jo. She was so gracious and empathetic to the situation. The grooming department was busy that day, but Lacey Jo said she could fit our pup in and that she would be safe and sound in the kennel for as long as we needed. This was such a relief and allowed my husband and me the time we needed with family. I can't thank Petco and especially Lacey Jo enough for their stellar service. We live in Denver, but we might just have to bring our Penny pup to this location in the future. As far as the grooming, Penny looked absolutely amazing when we picked her up. She usually puts up a huge fight for nail clipping, but Lacey Jo told us she was able to clip Penny's nails, no problem! I was amazed! Penny even got bows in her hair. SO CUTE! I bought 2 16# bags of Purina One Urinary Tract Health dry food for my cats. The first bag was full of big clumps of cat kibble that I had to throw out, resulting in only 12# of food. The second bag was full of webbing when I opened up the top, and when I pulled that back, the bag was alive and writhing with worms and moths. I taped it shut and took it back this morning. They would not refund my money, not even on the card it was purchased with and told me I could have in-store credit or nothing. Mind you, this is while the worms are now crawling out of the bag. I took the credit and left, only to find out I got $8 credit on a $24 bag of food! WORST customer service and I wouldn't trust their products either. read more

After my dog was abused at petsmart I was nervous about taking her anywhere. I called petco and explained what had happened at her last grooming session and the woman was very kind and assured me they would go slow with her so she would have a good experience. She also told me she would put her with an experienced groomer that works with my breed of dog. The woman who groomed her did an outstanding job with her and she looked really good after being groomed. I am well satisfied with petco and will never return to petsmart again. The Pueblo Petco has really impressed me. All of their employees are very friendly and helpful. I am a dog and saltwater aquarium owner, so my experiences related directly to that. First off, let's talk staffing. Their fish department is wonderful. Ron, one of the higher ups, knows his stuff, and will chat with you to figure out how to help. The female fish staff (I feel terrible I can't remember her name) is knowledgeable and works diligently to keep the live stock clean, fed, and disease free. She is well versed in SW care and if she doesn't know the answer, she finds it for you quickly. I've been looking at their aquariums over a year and I've never seen any noticeable disease. As for dog stuff, when we got our second puppy, we needed a crate. The staffing, specially Joyce, was super friendly and helpful. We shared photos of our pup and they made me feel like they cared about everything I discussed with them. As for stock and availability, I cannot say that I don't wish they had more, but for a big box store, they do have a variety of both aquarium and dog stock. They do not carry too many corals, but do have candy cane, Kenya tree, a variety of zoas, and some leather corals. They do not currently stock macro algae. They sell Instant Ocean salt and reef salt, as well as basic products for water care. Unfortunately no reef master test kits. The Pueblo Petco has a variety of dog stuff, much better than their major competitor. With regard to store cleanliness, they are leaps and bounds ahead of their major local competitor. The store does not smell like urine, and all of their livestock have clean living quarters. I have personally witnessed an employee cleaning a rodent cage and taking a moment to pet and hand feed it treats. You can tell they are well cared for. It's pretty sad that they don't have the ability to give shots to animals you have to drive 30 to 40 miles to the nearest place to get shots since nobody's taking new clients here in Pueblo I tried to book an appointment online with Petco but couldn't because they don't give you a choice for just a nail trim you have to have a bath and a haircut too which is ridiculous how can you book an appointment online for a nail trim if you don't have the ability to choose just that. Nice clean store with a good selection. Staff isn't dry helpful most of the time. However the managers are top notch. They match online prices. Major heads up. Check online first with this place. Their stuff online is way cheaper. U find what u want n the store and show the manager ur phone and its no problem at all. I got a kennel and n person it was 119 however online it was 59$. We took our pup to the Pueblo, Co. location last Friday and not 15 minutes later we got a call. She didn't want to bathe him because he was too stressed and nervous. He was thrashing so much she was afraid he'd hurt himself. I was a little disappointed since my husband and I knew we'd have to bathe him ourselves and it's WORK! Lol. But honestly, it was ok. She was so sweet about the whole thing (I wish I could remember her name!) and didn't want it to be a traumatic experience for him. He's a very high energy, high stress dog and we know how he can be. They at least got his claws clipped which is the part we thought would be tough. We will definitely take him back to have that done, but Mom & Dad will be doing the bathing part from here on out. :) read more

After several trips to your Pueblo location shopping for my dog, cat, multiple parrots and birds, salt water and freshwater fish, tortoise (to name a few) I WILL NO LONGER BE SHOPPING HERE. I have tried to offer suggestions both to the manager and general manager regarding their saltwater maintenance because they can't keep anything alive. So, after a year of moving here and trying to do business with this company, I cannot. If they can't educate their people on proper maintenance to prevent disease, then it is probably true with all of their animals. Someone should contact PETA. Yes, I am an expert. 30 plus years doing custom designed aquariums and systems as well as maintenance, as well as owning a full-line pet store. I have seen the fish coming in completely free of problems and yet they continue to "blame" the wholesaler. PETCO...........ALL THE AQUARIUM STORES PREVENT PROBLEMS AND NEVER MIX FISH WITH INVERTEBRATES IF THEY ARE NEW AND KEEP MEDICATIONS IN THE WATER FOR PREVENTION. BUT YOUR "EXPERTS" SEEM TO THINK THAT SIMPLY HAVING A UV STERILIZER IS ALL THEY NEED. AND, THEN SEPARATE THE FISH IF THERE IS A PROBLEM ? YOUR EMPLOYEES CAN'T EVEN IDENTIFY A PROBLEM SO YOUR TANKS ARE CONSTANTLY INFECTED, WITH NO TREATMENT OR ENOUGH TIME TO AGE THE AQUARIUM OUT OF THE PROBLEM AND THEN YOU GET A NEW SHIPMENT AND DISCOUNT EVERYTHING. I have walked in to see your system blowing air into the aquariums (bad news for the fish) because of evaporation. I have checked your salinity with your manager using your hydrometer and it is has been extremely high. I can "guess" that because you don't heat the water in that trash can of salt water, that this is the water that is added and when tap water is used, bet me is not at the correct temperature. ie: ICK. It's not difficult to tell what is wrong when someone is as experienced as myself. AND EMPLOYEE ATTITUDE???? DEFINATELY!!! read more
