Lousiville pizza week is an annual event in which multiple pizza chains offer up a speciality pie…read moreof there choosing for $9.99 during the specified week that pizza week falls under. Outside of having an excuse to hit up multiple pizzerias in a week they do offer fun and cool Prizes when you tag your social media photos with things such as #502pizzaweek. Maybe the person who puts this event together can get Yelp involved and have that contest extend out to Yelp page photos. Part of the pizza week fun is each year they give you a pizza "passport" that has all participating locations and what they offer. When you visit these places during the specified week and order the pizza they are offering you get a stamp on the passport. At the end of the week you submit a photo of your passport on the official pizza week website for a chance to win a grand prize. I think it varies each year but for 2021 it was a min of 4 stamps for a chance to win $250 in Gift cards. Anyone who knows me Knows I love pizza. If a new pizzeria opens in Lousiville I add it to my list of places to try. So it's like pizza week was made for me specifically. From my understanding as of 2021 this was the 5th year for this event. I first heard of the event a few years ago but unfortunately due to traveling the last few years I wasn't able to participate. However In 2021 I was able to. And k racked up 5 passports in the 7 day window. Despite being called Lousiville pizza week Surrounding cities participate sometime stop. For instance this year I earned a passport at a new Albany Indiana pizzeria and at a chain in Mount Washington Kentucky. Also not every place offering a pizza is necessarily a pizzeria. Just a place that offers pizza. Which helps if someone is getting burnt out on pizza. Also the diverse pizza week options help on not getting burnt out. While a lot do offer the traditional pizzas. Most offer speciality pizzas like breakfast, hot chicken, bbq, pesto and etc. so it is very diverse. Part of the program they do encourage patrons to order more menu items and tip normal prices as these are usually discounted prices at $9.99. So that's a fair ask. My 2021 experience was great. The five places I got to participate in This year was 8th street pizza pepperoni pizza, angios breakfast pizza, derby city bbq pizza, boombozz chicken pesto pizza and square cut pizzas sausage and ricotta. All were great and fun to explore. Overall this is an awesome event. Me and my wife and four daughters had a blast doing this. We got to try some new pizzas we maybe wouldn't have before and it got us out to two pizzerias on my to do list. The passport collection was fun for me and the kiddos and added to the fun of the event. We are sad we missed out on that fun the last few years but will be willing participants for years to come and look forward to see who participates next year and what they have to offer. Also keeping fingers crossed we win the main prize!
