I'm a physician and I don't get the bad reviews. I've been around a long time and to me this office…read moreis the way medical offices used to operate. She's an old fashioned family doctor that as a medical professional I find completely competent. There's APA there or an NP by the name of Michaela who is just as sharp. Extremely thorough and knowledgeable. She caught an issue on my high blood pressure meds that no one in the last 15 years has caught and by simply adding something to my meds it dramatically helped improve my blood pressure. I've read comments about not returning phone calls. She's called me twice already on some lab work. The first time she called Without me asking her to call she reviewed my blood work left me a voicemail. There was a issue with my fasting insulin which got me a little nervous I called back within 48 hours she rang me back and got me on the phone personally to address it. I asked her to create some new lab forms so I could have it tested again and she did it without question. I don't know what people expect from a doctor in today's world. There's the real world and there's the hypothetical world In the hypothetical world the Doctor will spend an hour and a half with you and find that every single issue that is of concern but in the real world to be able to survive financially a doctor cannot spend huge amounts of time with each patient and still stay in practice peter I ran a medical practice I could not spend any more than 10 or 15 minutes with each patient or I'd be out of business. Anyway this review is not about me it's about her Dr O'connor and her very excellent nurse practitioner Michaela. I have nothing but good experiences to say and I've been there 4 months now on three separate occasions. My refills are easy to do there's been no argument about running prescriptions for me I would give it a 10 out of 10. I'll add one other point that you might want to take into consideration when looking at these negative reviews. A doctor that has a six week to 8 week waiting list is a popular doctor, and he or she is a popular doctor for a reason. Think about that.

To me, this practice is dangerous. Read the newest reviews; 2024-25: 6 negative, 1 positive…read more Now make that 7 negative. When people take time to write about their concerns, that is a warning. This doctor may be competent but the practice is a complete mess. She lets an x-ray tech run the place because that person will be rude, confrontational and dismissive. So much for patient care. There are serious issues with professionalism, patient communication and follow up. There is no patient portal; phone calls are literally never returned; there is constant staff turnover and beware if you ever have to deal with the so-called medical director who is named multiple times in the reviews as in need of replacement. I second that. The doctor will not respond to calls or walk-in appointments. Even if your insurance covers it, they will not hold tele-health appointments until you put in your credit card number. What if you have no credit card or donʻt want the world to have your cc number when it isnʻt used? "Itʻs our vendor, we have no control over it." Change your vendor. This is health care, not profit care. The Physicians Assistant will not consult on the telephone. So either find a way to get to the office no matter how sick you are, or forget about it. When I did put in my credit card for the tele-health, the PA prescribed a medicine without noting that it was off the formulary. The co-pay cost me $430. The place is dark, dingy, completely unwelcoming and looks unsanitary. There is no written material to explain to new patients how to navigate the crazy way the practice operates. Staff are polite but depressed; check out Glass Ceiling to see what the staff really think about working there; it is not good. Find another doctor. This place is a nightmare.

I know some people may hesitate because Dr. Shin is newer, but my experience with him was absolutely excellent. Before my first visit, Dr. Shin had already reviewed my medical history, which saved a lot of time and showed how thorough and caring he is. I came in for a physical and full blood work, and as soon as I checked in, Dr. Shin personally came to the lobby to ask about my concerns and what I wanted done. By the time I was in the exam room, everything was ready -- very organized and efficient! During the appointment, he listened carefully and offered thoughtful solutions before even mentioning medication. I really appreciated that he focuses on the root cause of issues, not just symptoms -- a true example of great osteopathic care. My lab results were ready within a few days on MyChart, with detailed comments from him explaining everything. Dr. Shin is an outstanding, compassionate, and knowledgeable physician. If you're looking for a caring primary care doctor who truly takes the time to listen and help, I highly recommend him!

I was sent a different patients visit and test results after my first visit, not a start to inspire confidence. I only received part of my own lab work so goodness knows where the rest ended up. They promise to set up physical therapy and exercise regimens but there is no follow-up and nothing happens. Their doctors are supposed to be on call and available to concierge patients through phone and text but it is extremely difficult to get a call back, and the office staff seem to go out of their way to be unhelpful. Calls are not returned, information is not passed on to physicians, and the entire office seems confused. They refer to themselves as a concierge practice but essentially have no idea what that actually should be. Front office staff seem nice but follow up and response is awful. Doctors get impatient with patients because they are being told by office staff that information is being sent out when it actually isn't, and the doctors don't seem to have the time to follow up on anything. A concierge practice that keeps you waiting for two months for lab results, repeatedly telling you that the lab hasn't sent them over when you know very well that Quest diagnostics have results back in a couple of days. Office staff will also tell medical staff that results have been sent out and that patients are somehow mistaken, leading to extreme frustration at the patient level. Doctors seem knowledgeable but are clearly too rushed with too many patients and a very poorly trained support staff.

Unfortunately, my experience with the follow-up and communication regarding my lab results was very disappointing. I had my blood work done on the same day as my physical, August 19, and the results were available in my patient portal on August 20. I waited a week for the office to contact me, but no one did. I then called the office and was asked to leave a message requesting that Dr. Thompson review my results and contact me. Another week passed with no response. I then sent a message through my patient portal asking the doctor to review my results. Again, I received no response. After approximately three weeks, I made a third attempt by calling MemorialCare. I explained that I had already contacted the office twice and had still not received any follow-up. Finally, approximately one month after my results became available, I received a message through my chart. However, the response was not from Dr. Thompson. Another physician responded, stating that she was responding on Dr. Thompson's behalf. What concerned me most was the content of the message. The physician wrote: "Your ferritin level was low indicating iron deficiency and your vitamin D levels are low" and recommended that I start an iron supplement and vitamin D supplements. However, when I reviewed my actual lab results in my patient portal, my ferritin levels and vitamin D levels were within normal range. This left me very confused and concerned about why I was being told that my ferritin and vitamin D was low and that I had iron deficiency when the lab report available in my own medical chart showed a result within the stated reference range. I also found it unacceptable that I had to make three separate attempts and wait approximately a month before receiving any response regarding routine blood work from my annual physical. Timely follow-up and accurate communication about laboratory results are extremely important, especially when a medication or supplement is being recommended. Unfortunately, my experience did not match the positive reviews that initially led me to choose this doctor. I expected much better communication, follow-up, and attention to the results in my medical record. I would not recommend Dr. Patrick Thompson and I will not go to him again.
