My review is a combination of my being a visitor and my dear friend being a patient. She is still…read moreat the hospital and is not on Yelp. She texted me a few days ago to say that she was in hospital. Doctors were trying to diagnose her pain. When they finally had her undergo a ton of tests, they got a proper diagnosis and operated on her on Thursday. She let me know on Friday that she was recovering. I had asked her to keep me posted. I also said that I'd come visit her when the time was right on her end. Sure enough, she said that she'd like visitors. On Saturday, I made drive over to Peterborough Regional Health Centre, which is the city's lone hospital. I hoped that a familiar face would make her day. I found the first visitor's parking lot, pulled in, got a ticket from the machine, and proceeded to park. I had my window down and a woman commented on how pretty my blue car was. I thanked her. I like friendly folks. I entered the south entrance of the hospital. I should have driven a bit further to the main entrance. However, it was good to walk around and figure out where things were. The south entrance is where the mental health centre is. There were signs that directed me to the visitor set of elevators. It's good that I started on the first floor. There is a courtyard with lots of pretty plants and flowers, and tables with small pumpkins on top. It was a calming place for patients and visitors to take a breather. I took the elevator up to the fourth floor. It's where the information desk is. It's an odd setup, but it does work. I spoke to a man about finding where my friend was. I spelled my friend's last name and provided her first name. He asked whether I had been to this hospital. I suppose that I wasn't sporting a confused look on my face. I did indeed need help figuring out how to get to her. She was on the fifth floor and he gave helpful turn-by-turn details. He also wrote down the wing and room number for me on a small piece of paper. I thanked him. The fourth floor has a cafeteria. It looked spacious. I saw information about a beyond burger. There is also a gift shop if you need to grab something before heading to see a loved one. If you know me fairly well, I am a planner. I was armed with a get-well card that contained a gift card. I didn't want to get anything heavy for my friend or her partner to carry back home. I found her. She had a private room. I spent 1.5 hours with her. I didn't want to take up a ton of time, as she needed to recover. It was great seeing her and chatting. I met two of her nurses, who were both nice and knowledgeable. My friend agreed. She advised that she only had one nurse in the ICU who had an attitude problem when her pain was at its worst. There is sadly a bad apple in any crop. She likes her surgeon and got to meet him. She is recovering nicely, which is such a relief. She was in good spirits and was understandably tired. Some doors through the hospital require hitting a button before entering. Someone helped me with that while finding my friend. I looked like a tourist with this little piece of paper that had my friend's room number. For some reason, folks seem to think that I know what I am doing, no matter when I am. One older woman, who was waiting by the elevators with me, asked me where emergency was. I didn't have a clue. I was focused on going up to the fifth floor where my friend was. I need to bring back my puzzled look on my face again. Visitor parking is reasonable. I paid $10 at a machine using my credit card. I had hit the maximum daily amount. The machine accepts tap, which worked fine. You have fifteen minutes to exit the parking lot after you have paid. If you are coming and going, it's best to get a pass. There are no visiting hour restrictions. Staff can set restrictions, if required. Flexibility is nice, provided that visitors aren't being rude holding a rave at 2 am. After I exited the parking lot, I drove over to see the main entrance. I hope that there isn't a next time, but I now know that it may be best to park over there instead for convenience. I had a good experience as a visitor. My friend got and is getting decent care at this hospital. She is in good hands, which makes me feel at ease. (421)

Being from out of town and first time fathers, we really didn't know what to expect. Luckily, we had the most professional, compassionate, and patient nurses at the NICU. Our two nurses (Kat & Tiffany) were amazing throughout our stay. They explained everything to us and made sure we took care of ourselves too. I can't say enough about these two. The staff worked to place us in a stay down unit to help save on costs since we are not part of Ontario Health. Overall a great experience in a situation that is not the best. Thank you!!!

Not with Jon Archibald. When I was extremely ill he came to the house weekly. If it weren't for his out of the box thinking what I had and treatments I wouldn't be alive today. He's been this kind of doctor, and man since arriving as a fill in GP in Lakefield away back when. Thank you Jon for being so dedicated to your job and going overboard to fill us all in though this crazy Covid world we've had to go through.

There is a small gravel parking lot, an added bonus is they are dog-friendly so you can bring your pooch! I would definitely recommend this shop to everyone.

Each month we are provided a delicious buffet breakfast at Royal Gardens for an affordable rate. We routinely have anywhere from 20 to 30 in attendance. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, and are very much appreciated by our members. Our December meeting is a "Christmas Brunch" to which we bring our spouses or friends. This year we had 51 members in attendance. We were treated to a "donut bar" to start our social hour, then items such as assorted pastries, Eggs Benedict, frittatas, bacon, sausages, 2 types of potatoes and of course coffee, tea and juices, and more. A big "Thank You" goes out to the Executive Director, Renee; the Director of Food Services, Dan; Resident Services, Anna; Activity Director, Tammy; and the entire kitchen staff who prepared this delicious meal and provided such friendly service. Definitely a 5-Star event for us!

I required them for work and needed them ready as soon as possible due to weeks of unnecessary waiting, but thankfully the selection at the store was quality and reasonably priced. I was never suggested any unnecessary lens treatments during the purchase and the sunglasses had an incredibly short turn around on production. The staff I talked to for pick-up was also quick and very helpful. I really appreciated their help, I'll definitely be returning in the future.

Healthy, home cooked meals are served three times a day in a bright, friendly, warm setting. The owner Shane lives right next door and is one of the nicest people we have ever met. The staff are exceptionally caring and friendly. The environment is safe, interactive and upbeat. Residents need to be able to care for themselves (get dressed on their own and bathe on their own). Our dad was in between stages of his life. He could easily dress himself and look after his own bathing but was not capable of planning, purchasing and making his own meals. Forestview looks after all the meals and I mean very healthy, delicious, homemade meals. They also make sure he takes his medication twice a day. There is a nice mix of residents, both male and female and about 15 residents in total. Some residents have their own little apartments within the building while others like my dad have a single room with a shared bathroom (with one other person). Some of the residents are still quite independent (some still drive their own cars) while others like my dad enjoy sitting in the backyard watching the birds at the feeder or sitting out front watching people walk by. In summary Forestview is a 10/10. They have been a lifesaver for our family and we can not thank them enough !!

Starting my placement, I…read morewas obviously nervous, but from the moment I walked into Applewood I was welcomed with opened arms! Working in the activities department and with management, they have helped me grow and learn. This experience working with Applewood has been nothing but educational and wonderful. Working with the residents I have heard great things and I know that the staff is focused on the satisfaction of the residents and that takes priority over everything else. Everyone here works hard to make sure their residents are treated with the utmost respect and make sure that they are comfortable. Being here is like being a part of a family, and even in my short time here I feel as though I am part of the community and family they have built here. I am completely satisfied with my time here and will always speak highly of Applewood!
