A few years ago I used Peterson Picture and got a few jobs done with them. I can't say I got exactly what I wanted but it was good enough and they are good for me because I live near by. I really needed to get some artwork framed this year and I called but no one answer. I understand they are busy so I thought I would just drive over in the middle of the day with one of the pieces and see if they have a little time and I can not find parking and now I'm running out of time. The painting is too big to not be able to park somewhat close but there is such little parking now. You can't pull over. Everything is different in this area now. Even if I could find a parking spot it is so dangerous to try to get anything out of a vehicle with moving traffic so close and on the other side of the car is moving traffic as well. It's so crazy over here. I will go somewhere safer. read more

And when I finally moved into an apartment with more wall space, it was time to get it framed. Yelp led me to Peterson Picture, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome! And the finished product is everything I'd hoped and more in quality and looks. First and foremost, they framed a print for me and we are thrilled with the finished product. Top marks there. This was a bit of a saga. When I first picked up the piece from PP I noticed a small flaw in the print and promptly blamed them for the damage. However, they were quick to show me photos evidencing that the damage was present before I dropped it off. I was embarrassed, but they could not have been nicer and more professional about the whole thing. The artist replaced the damage print and PP re-framed the new piece at no charge. These guys are beyond amazing! I brought a giant mirror in, with hopes that they could help me figure out a way to move the clips on it. They explained the issues, instead of just taking on a task and not ruining the piece. They then allowed me to leave it there so they could ponder on solutions. I was very disappointed in the quality, customer service, and pricing at Peterson Picture. In short, it took three visits and redos for the piece to be framed properly and I gave up because I was sick of driving out of my way to deal with them. I brought a cloth piece that I picked up while traveling and wanted to have professionally framed. I found Mike Spear, one of the owners, very pushy and he did not do a good job of listening to what I wanted (as the customer). Ignoring my instinct, I left the piece with him to have framed. When I picked it up the first time, the piece was crooked in the frame (clearly not plumb). He offered to fix it at no charge. The second time, there were clear gaps in the frame at the corners indicating poor craftsmanship - if I were the store, I would be embarassed to let that kind of work leave my store. When I returned the third time, the piece was did not appear to lay flat in the frame. I was told that I was "looking too close at the detail" and "no one will look that closely at the quality" and "it looks fine." In my opinion, for a framing job where you are paying several hundred dollars, it should not look "fine" it should look "great." I was also disappointed in how Mr. Spear interacts with his staff. He spoke down to a co-worker that had been working on my piece, and similar to not listening to my concerns regarding the piece, also ignored the viewpoint of the co-worker responsible for framing the piece. Finally, after going in several times I am convinced that the credit card machine in the store never works. I preferred to pay by credit card, and every time there was an excuse about why the machine wasn't working. My guess is to avoid the credit card fees, however it is very inconvenient to pay in cash and I happen to not carry my checkbook regularly. I would recommend going elsewhere for special jobs, or checking out Sendaframe.com if you think you can do some of the work yourself. read more

If I could give Peterson Framing less than one star I would. If you think that you have been happy with the framing you have received in the past, it is because you have no idea what is lurking inside your framed art. A few years ago I dropped off a large exhibition to Peterson framing. I paid for archival matts, and archival backings for each of my images. As I began to have shows here and there, various galleries point out to me that what I had was NOT archival. Upon opening up each of the frames, I was SHOCKED to see what was inside. Out of 40 images, five had a backing board. The rest were all just backed with straight brown cardboard. 37 out of the 40 were taped to the frame face with REGULAR MASKING TAPE. One was even tapped to the frame with PACKING TAPE. You know, the clear kind you would fine at a UPS store? Unbelievable. See the photo I posted. Additionally, several of the pieces of art were put in the mats upside down. I had to take them back for them to be fixed and they actually gave me a lot of attitude about this- like it was a big bother that the mat was top weighted instead of bottom weighted. Most of the images were dented and are ruined. A few had black finger prints on the back. One even had markings on the back with black sharpie. They also do not wear any kind of gloves nor do they use any kind of care when handling your piece. Today, I am taking every last piece of crap that I bought from Peterson Framing Co. to the recycling center for cardboard. Because that is basically what I spent thousands of dollars on- cardboard. Peterson Picture Co does not do quality work and will swindle you. I am experienced with framing materials and they fooled me. Very sloppy work. Take your money elsewhere. read more

I was pleased to see the staff in masks when I dropped off my print. Mike helped me select the frame and glass and quoted me what I felt was a fair price. It took longer than normal for the framing to be done because of delays in receiving shipments due to Covid. My only complaint, a small one, was that I didn't get a call when my print was ready. Bottom Line: Good prices, great customer service, plenty of options, and would recommend anytime. I brought in four pieces to be framed. Two of the four, I was looking for just a black frame, white matte - basic framing. Another was a movie poster and the last was a 17 piece handbill set. I had a budget I was working with, and an artistic style I wanted to see accomplished. I actually had to reframe a painting after it was poorly framed at a location Near North on Ashland Ave. I'm usually very inquisitive perfectionist and like to learn about what I'm buying and how it's done and Jordan was more than willing to answer all of my very detailed questions. He helped me pick out the best frames to make my paintings look like they should hang in a museum. They're also very straightforward and honest. I left 2 paintings to be framed at 2 different times, so they told me to just pay for the whole thing once I picked up 2nd painting. Once I picked them up, I was overcharged erroneously (I didn't even notice cause the job was so well done and I was told it would be more expensive, that I paid willingly) and they where texting and calling apologetically to try to refund me the overcharge. I just come back from this store when a was going to spend over 400 dollar in a frame for a vintage poster. When I did check the corners the where all very bad, I did ask for the owner and because I sad it was a very pour job, he start screaming to me about his 30 years in the business, and tell me to never go back, and he sad next time when I want something perfect to ask for a custom frame. All I want it was a decent job for 400 dollars, and I little respect and some costumer service skills. There is lots of stores, don't worry I will never spend my money there. read more
