TL:DR - Local framing spot that is taking COVID seriously. They really provide great high quality pieces that always look great. They really emphasize the importance of customer service and have been really helpful in helping my design my piece, even if I come in with almost no idea of how I want something framed. To me their prices are a tad higher than what I was expecting to pay, but given the high quality work they do and how easy they make the entire process, this place provides great value if you need something framed. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I've had two experiences with the Frame Shop across its Bridgeport and Lincoln Park location and there have been some common themes that I think does a good job representing the values and aspects of framing that this place is trying to do well. What I really do appreciate about the Frameshop is how serious they're taking covid. Each location is only open a few days a week and people only come in by appointment only. Not only does this reduce the number of people around me but it gives me individual attention when it comes to getting inspiration in terms of how to set up my framed piece. Every time I've been, the person working has had a mask on as well, and there is plenty of hand sanitizers. The other thing I've noticed across my experiences, is their focus on quality framing and customer service. I am honestly a novice when it comes to framing, but even then, I always really appreciate and am impressed by the finished product. Like when I get my pieces back, I always think "Damn, this is really nice" and it makes me feel like I have my sh*t together as an adult. It's like putting on a nice suit, you automatically feel like a million bucks, even if half my wardrobe is gym shorts and t-shirts. In terms of customer service, I had a terrible first experience at Lincoln Park, but the frame shop reached out to me and let me know they had already taken steps to address some of the issues I had previously experienced, even before I gave my feedback. I am glad I gave them another shot, and I truly believe that my second experience is more representative of what you can expect based on how genuinely apologetic they were and based on other reviews. Going in the second time, I just had a few pieces from my wedding I wanted framed as an anniversary gift. I had nothing in mind of how it would go together or how it would look. Cole helped me and made the whole process really easy. He took what few ideas I had, filled in some blanks, and within 15 min we had outlined the piece and I was super happy with it. That process could not have been easier. I still do get some sticker shock when it comes to the price. Compared to what I had in mind, we're still within the same ballpark, but still higher than what I thought I was going to pay going in. But to be fair, I'm basing this off prices in my hometown, and have never gone anywhere else in Chicago, as some of the other reviewers seem to have, and found the Frame Shop to be cheaper. But given the quality of the final product, the amazing customer service, and the eye for design the workers have, you're still going to get great overall value when come to the Frame Shop. read more

I just recently had a poster framed by Josh at The Frame Shop and couldn't be happier with the work. The poster has a red and black color scheme and so Josh suggested we match that with a double wooden frame, red and black distressed wood, and it ended up perfectly complimenting the artwork. The poster also has a recurring pattern which was echoed in the choice of mat, another great suggestion, and again the result was very nice. We get a lot of stuff framed, so when we moved from the West Loop to Bridgeport, we were excited to see the neighborhood had a frame shop. Going in our expectations were high, because the framers we used in the old hood (CMM) were awesome. Since moving we've had pictures, prints, art, wedding invites, and jerseys framed at The Frame Shop and they've easily exceeded our expectations. Pricing is expensive, but you get what you pay for and their prices are competitive to any custom framing shop (I think they have a price match guarantee). Folks that work there are super helpful as well and they usually have some cool art around, so it's worth popping in, even if just to check that out. read more

Overall, my experience was very good. I asked The Frame Shop to frame a large star/constellation chart that I recently purchased. The price was a bit much (especially since I used a Groupon), but I don't hold that against The Frame Shop too much because my experience has shown that the entire framing industry is overpriced. In addition, my print constituted an "oversized" job, which added to the price. The employees were all very friendly. I had the opportunity of meeting the owner when I dropped my print off and he, along with a store associate, were very helpful. When I picked the framed print up, I met another extremely friendly store associate who helped me load the piece into my car. The quality of the work is great, as well. My boyfriend and I wanted to like and support this business so writing this is disappointing. We just picked up two framed prints, one of which was put in the wrong frame and the other, a wooden frame, had areas that were scratched. Friendly suggestion: How about you use cardboard holders on the corners and not paper. Wow! When my boyfriend placed the order he had a good conversation with the individual working, but on the day the order should have been ready no one thought it necessary to call and inform him that one of the frames had a moulding that was on backorder so it would actually be another week. After another week passed my second call was to see if the order was ready. The individual working said he would call me back once he found out but never did. My third call, an hour before they closed, he said the factory had told him it would be ready this week but did not give him a specific date or time. He said he would call them again to get a definitive answer and call me back, and never did. An hour later I called a fourth time and he said oh! I just got off the phone and they said you can pick up the frames tomorrow. Having had lovely and professional interactions at April 7's, FoundRe, Foursided, and Lakeview Art Supply, I can say this was easily the worst craftsmanship and customer service I have seen and experienced in regards to custom framing. I had a great experience at The Frame Shop. I dropped off a Moghul painting on silk papyrus from India. They did an excellent job of mounting the previously rolled-up print and smoothing out any wrinkles, without running the risk of ironing the scroll and ruining the art. They were courteous in helping me select a frame and matt board. The framing took a little under two weeks and they did an excellent job for a great price. I had a Groupon, which I applied towards the overall cost and did not end up having to pay an exorbitant price, as some frame shops will have you do when you bring in a Groupon. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. It is also conveniently located in the Bridgeport area. Will definitely visit The Frame Shop again! read more

I discovered The Frame Shop by happenstance while walking around the neighborhood a few weeks back and I'm sure glad I did. I had a Chicago Tribune press plate from the Cubs world series win to frame as a Christmas gift and they did a wonderful job. Josh & Cole were quick helpful from picking out the frame, matting, getting the work done in time for the holiday and making pick up quite easy. Each gave me a call to chat about the work prior to starting (Josh) and once the piece was done and ready, early by the way!
