A significant part of our business at Petley-Jones & Co. is Estate Planning (Wills, Estates, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Representation Agreements). Under special circumstances we can also act as the executor of your Will, your attorney under a Power of Attorney, and / or your representative under a Health Care Representation Agreement.
In addition, our office assists executors and administrators (in the absence of a Will) with applications for Probate and Administration, respectively, as well as processing estates, if needed (see Estate Administration and Probate).
We also handle real estate, and Petley-Jones & Co. is the registered office for almost 100 small- and medium-size corporations, providing services and advice as they relate to business law.

History
Established in 1980.
Ralph Petley-Jones was educated in Nova Scotia and Ontario. He earned his Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Law degrees at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 1980 and has practiced in Nanaimo, British Columbia, since 1981.
Meet the Business Owner: Ralph P.
Ralph continues to expand his knowledge through courses offered by the British Columbia Law Society, particularly in the area of estate planning, and has attended virtually all of the courses offered in this area in the last number of years. He also has extensive training in mediation.
Ralph has been an active member of the Nanaimo community for many years. He has been the secretary of the Rotary Club of Nanaimo North, a trustee of the Nanaimo School Board, and a director of the Nanaimo Mountain Bike Club. An avid recreationalist, Ralph enjoys mountain biking, skiing, running, climbing, and (especially) windsurfing.
