There is also a good selection of soy sauce and canned things (e.g., lychee, longan, bamboo shoots). I will say that the snacks on the shelf will sometimes be expired (I once accidentally bought a cookie package whose expiration date was a year past) and you will have to scan produce for mold, but besides some isolated cases I haven't had much experience with food from here having gone bad.

Here there were decent-looking green onion bunches and cilantro as well as (surprise!) boba and Shan Yao (Mountain Yam). They have Stokes purple sweet potatoes and what I think are Okinawan sweet potatoes (brownish on the outside and purple on the inside). Note the difference between both of these and ube (the tree-bark-like 'potato' on the right, which I got at a different store). The produce section looked fresher than some other small Asian grocery stores in the area. They also have boba straws and cute circular cutting boards made of wood.

The guy at the counter asked me why I was just getting one plantain. (How many plantains is the right number? I don't know--depends on how many I already have.)
