I have had better pizza in a gas station back when I was younger and was good with buying gas station pizza. That was most definitely the most mediocre pizza I have ever had. I even went with a slice that they just pulled from the oven. On a better note, I have had their Italian Hoagies (cold) those were pretty good. If your high-end pizza is a Luigis, DeCheckos or Maries (wadsworth) and your mid threshold would be like a Gioninos, Marcos, Pizza Hut; this pizza here is way below the mids it would be at the low end actually below Speedway Gas Station, Little Ceasars, and Dominos. I was actually surprised I really expected way more from an Italian Market. Girlfriend absolutely loves the cannoli's, super expensive though; I think just under $7 for 2 of them. read more

I haven't been here in 20 years, I gotta make an effort to stop by more often. Friendly, old school service. We started at the deli counter. They offer several products imported from Italy. I recommend the mortadella and capacola. Wow, they offered us samples and sliced everything perfectly. You could almost see through the mortadella! Who am I kidding, I picked up some Sicilian pizza, imported pecorino romano, bronze cut pasta and their wonderful cream pancetta sauce. Don't be turned off by the cream, there is just a hint of it in the sauce. It has a little spicy bite but is well balanced. I'm definitely getting this again. To top things off we picked up a box of Italian lemon cookies. The service was so friendly. I started bagging up my items when a nice young man rushed over and bagged things up and offered to carry them out to our car. That's service! I will be back! read more

Ok for the most part this is a great establishment in the area and has been a staple for years. I am just being picky on 1 aspect. I been in here to shop. But never had a sandwich or take out. Decided today I was going to pick up a sandwich for dinner. A good Italian sub from an Italian grocery figured it had to be good. It was just OK. I got the Italian Super Sub. All pre made in a case. So you don't get to watch them make it you get the assembly line version. Looked fresh. Bought peppers as well and some chips. Sandwich is just meat and cheese. No extras or dressing or anything else. Plain sub. Seems I could get a better sub at subway. At least I could add some veggies and peppers, dressing too. The sub roll is good. Quality of meats and cheese is there but more bread than meat/cheese. And nothing else. I added Italian dressing and the peppers I bought to zing it up. It was just blah. And I paid $10 for it. The fact that I had to add to it makes it totally not worth it. Best part we're the potato chips. Some generic brand that was awesome! Crunch and salty good. The salads and sides were also in the case and behind the counter. You can get all types of you like. I just didn't want to pay $30 for lunch/dinner. So I passed. Lunch or dinner should be a quick grab. Less than $15 bucks $10 is better than out the door. This was not that. I know prices are up. But $28 for a mediocre sub, peppers, chips, is not worth it. They have a brisk lunch biz. Good for them. Just expected more or better. They do have meatball and sausage subs they make fresh to order. They looked good. Maybe I'll try that next. If I go back. Haven't decided. Plenty of parking, quick in and out for the most part as well. read more

You can't beat this place for their authenticity, service, and quality Italian foods. I've been going to this market with my family since I was a child. It's not large, and during certain holidays (especially Christmas) it can be a bit chaotic and crowded. That said, this family owned Akron institution is so well run and organized that you can be in and out quickly even during peak hours. They offer their own sauces, homemade heat and eat pasta dishes, locally sourced bread, and the highest quality Italian meats and cheeses. They also have daily lunch specials that Akronites have feasted upon for decades. If they made a candle that smelled like DeViti's, I'd buy 1000 of them and keep them lit in my house year round. I drive through the Akron area when I'm heading to Chicago or Michigan from the Washington DC area. Why? There are some foodie gems here and this is one of them. The question is really "Why have I not stopped here sooner? Why have I only found this place now!?" I love Italian delis, you can find amazing imported pasta and homemade sauce in places like this. As I searched for an Italian Deli in the Akron area, this popped up with amazing reviews. I wanted to stock pile the Italian subs from the back wall and take home all the pepperoni bread but luckily my cooler in my car would not be able to hold the stash. I bought a couple items. They were so yummy that on my way back to the DC area I planned my drive so I could pass by DeVitis again. I picked up subs and extras like pasta and more sauce, which you can buy already in a jar. If you want hot (temperature wise) sauce, just ask them in the back and they'll put it in a plastic container for you. Seriously, don't even bother making your own sauce, just get it here!! read more

I love this little market. It's right by my house and super convenient. Anything you need to make anything Italian, you'll find it here. I find myself going there non stop to get their tiramisu. It is the best I have ever had. Then they have a great little deli there where I ALWAYS get my hot capicola when I make Stromboli. I also love buying their balls of dough to make homemade pizza as well as their amazing fresh mozzarella. If you haven't tried their frozen strudels to take home and make, you are 100% missing out. The only thing in that whole entire store I would direct you to stay away from is the cannoli candy bar they have by checkout. It's trash. But everyone is so nice there and I would be devastated if they every closed down. read more

Going to DeVitis is always such a treat for me. I remember going with my mom as a kid and enjoying the delicious deli meat and cheese samples on our way home from the market knowing an awesome sandwich was in store when we got home. Now, as an adult, I can treat myself to some fine Italian goods anytime I find myself in the North Hill area of Akron or sometimes I even plan a special trip there just for DeVitis. The things I ALWAYS get from the deli include capocollo, salami (esp. in one of the varieties not generally found in a regular grocery), ham, and then the sharpest provolone and asiago they can slice. Put these five ingredients on a hoagie roll with a little homemade olive oil and red wine dressing with some herbs and and you've got yourself a pretty fine sandwich. For special events or parties their deli platters make for an amazing spread of superior quality selections and come with olives and a generous bag of rolls for sandwiches. I also enjoy their frozen pesto and alfredo sauces, the freshly grated pecorino romano, parmesan, and fresh ricotta and mozarella. They have frozen pizzas that look fantastic and a variety of frozen and dried pasta in whatever shapes and combos your heart desires. Their fresh Italian sausage is offered in mild, hot, and Sicilian varieties (all wonderful) and they have great fresh produce and other canned goods plus a great selection of fresh breads. The prepared foods section of their deli is also fantastic with great olive blends and aspirational looking slices of lasagna as big as my face that look suuuuper tempting. Everytime I go, I curse myself I don't work close enough nearby to stop in for their lunch sandwich combo special or any of the other specialty prepared selections during the week. read more

What to say about DeVitis? They are amazing. They have great lunch deals in the hot bar & the chilled sandwiches. I'm not a fan of macaroni salad but I could have theirs every single day.
