The store is quite small but remarkably well stocked. It literally has everything from magazines to fruit and veg and there's even a wee deli counter offering fresh sandwiches and baked goods. You can do your lottery here too. The moral of this story is that if you are only out for a few bits or like me are desperate for some juice on a Sunday morning avoid Tesco's and head straight here.

However they are attached to quite a large convenience store which carries a good range of items, (there is some parking available if you are just buying from the shop rather than getting petrol). They also have the added bonus of a Post Office which is definitely a lot more convenient than having to use the one in town. There is also a cash machine, which is a definite plus. It's always a busy place.

Topaz would probably suffice, seeing as it's the only one I know of out this side of Belfast, and is therefore already slightly unique when it comes to the world of petrol stations... I once paid a visit to Topaz (as it will henceforth be known), not for petrol, but because I had to do an errand for my boss. When she initially told me to go up to the Beersbridge Road Post Office, I was ever so slightly confused. "Where's that?", asked I, thinking I'd never come across it before. "Aww, sure it's up in the petrol station!", came the reply, to which I swiftly retorted, "Behind it? Or do you mean actually in the petrol station?!" Well, the latter it was. How strange. A petrol station-cum-post-office. Hadn't come across one of them before. The staff were darn lovely too, but unfortunately I had to go elsewhere to do my errand, as it turned out they didn't do what I needed them to. Oopsies. Very handy little place though...

Then there's the post office inside which I often use. It covers most needs apart from renewing car tax discs. The most noteworthy occurrence was that the lady behind the counter gave me a hand to stick on stamps when I was in the midst of a monster mail out. That's full marks to the staff, who are consistently helpful. The Bank of Ireland cashpoint inside is another handy thing which has appeared since the branch closed down on the Newtownards Road. Altogether, it's a reliable and useful filling station though it doesn't yet have the embellishments that others have such as hot drinks and food.

The garage itself is good, plenty of pumps on the forecourt and the shop is excellent with a coffee machine, fruit and veg section, bakery and a Subway. The garage can get busy and when I was in today I had to queue for a good few minutes long. Loads of great facilities but the fact that the forecourt is a mess currently lets it down.

It is sandwiched between a BP Garage and a cheaper Tesco's Petrol station just up the road. The main pulling power of this garage is the Spar and ATM. The Filling station boasts around 8 pumps, a hoover pint and an air station and has plenty of parking if you just want to nip in to the spar. The Spar is really well stocked selling fruit veg, magazine, newspapers, cigarettes as well as the usual household items. Not too many garages sell gas canisters and coal these days but this one does, worth noting, especially in the winter months. Serves its purpose but it's not going to win any prizes for value but it might for convenience.

As with all Applegreen…read moreservice stations this one is great for truck drivers and the general public, being convenient for refuelling both self and motor vehicles. Applegreen has a range of eateries including Gregs, Chopstix, Lavazza, Subway, Burger King and The Bakewell. There's free wifi, an outside smoking area, kids play area, loads of seating and a quiet upstairs area with sockets for charging phones and tablets. Modern, useful and serves its purpose.

I recently ate at Chopstix and found the dishes were pretty soggy with congealed sauce around the honey pepper chicken I ordered. I definitely wouldn't eat from it again in a hurry. I went upstairs to Lavazza and had a coffee after and this was much better. Lavazza has a really strong unique roast which always hits the spot when running low on energy. This Applegreen has some nice picnic tables outside and a mini kids play area. Theres also a large parking area for lorries and larger transportation.

We have been taking our cars to Creightons Garage for servicing for over 13 years. Unfortunately,…read moretheir level of service has declined significantly over the past couple of years. I recently took my car in for a service and an MOT, and it failed the MOT twice. The person who checked the car said the reason could be many things and admitted that he did not know the exact cause. My car stayed at the garage for several days without any solution. I paid for everything they asked for, yet there was still no solution and no refund offered. I no longer recommend this garage for servicing. We have lost a great deal of time, money, and--most importantly--trust.
