This store is a good size with a recently added vetinary practice on site…read more Its sells pet accessories, food and treats for dogs, cats, small animals, fish and other breeds and also has a good section for looking after wild birds as well. Alongside the accessories it sells a small range of animals including rats, hamsters, chinchillas, rabbits and guinea pigs and a fairly good range of fish, both cold water and tropical. It also sells a few bits like calendars and at the right time of year animal based christmas cards and things. There is also a rehoming area where animals that didn't sell originally or ones that the owner could no longer look after go up for adoption. I have always found the staff to be both helpful and knowledgeable in their areas, and have bought two healthy animals from them. The store is well laid out and easily accessible.

Business has tailed off over the last few years which I suspect is due to the expansion of the supermarket pet range and large pet superstores, but I prefer local businesses like this one where the retailer engages with the customer and offers excellent service just by getting know their customers. Sure you may pay a little more for a personal service but its worth it in my opinion.
I whole-heartedly recommend Companion Care Vets Truro to any pet owner…read more The treatment we have received, compared to our 'local' veterinary service, goes far beyond my own gushing eloquence. The difference is night & spaghetti. The care and attention shown has never seemed anything less than genuine; from all of the staff, not just the front-line Vets -and the air most certainly doesn't chime with the £-signs that evidently roll in the eyes of a locally-based practice I would Love to name... We come across the Sanctuary.......actually, I don't remember how we came across it but we found it and decided to go. They offered 1 hour hands on interaction with the owls in addition to admission for 50 pounds. At first I thought this was a little steep but they let the wife and I both participate for this amount. This became a fantastic deal. The first thing we did was go observe all of the owls in their housing. As with any exhibit, sign on the outside stating what region they're from, what they eat and so on. Never did I realized they were so many different species of owls. I honestly thought there were only two or three. Next, we met with the handler who instructed us on handling the birds and how to interact with them. Next, she brought us different owls ranging from small barn owls to an enormous, 11 pound Eagle Owl. Truly amazing creatures to observe up close. The young lady who taught us about the animals was really informative and a pleasure to talk with. In the sanctuary, you're not just limited to owls. Walk around the place and you'll find geese, raccoons, llamas, and cool pair of jack-asses that I had a real fun time hanging around with. Also, a small cafe onsite with decent food and of course, tea. If you're looking for something to do that really outside the box you should give this place a try. Even if you're not into animals that much I think you'll really be fascinated by these birds.
This place is amazing! It's very hands on and educational, and for only £10!…read more We went on a cold, rainy, Easter Sunday. Because of the weather hardly anyone was there which was great for us. We started at the close encounters area where we were introduced to a variety of owls from the super tiny to the humungous. Each of their story, breeds and characteristics were explained to us and there were plenty of photo opportunities. We also got to stroke their heads and bellies. A flying display then followed with different birds. We got even more up close and personal with them flying and landing right next to us. We even had the chance to hold them. After viewing the different aviaries and various other animals in the sanctuary we caught up with one of the staff and helped to feed the emus, goats, meerkats, and raccoons. The best thing is that you could do the whole thing again as they run in continuous circles. If you're in Cornwall this is well worth the visit.
