Catherine has built a niche business walking busy pet owners dogs for them and providing a doggie daycare in Parnell. She runs her Auckland business from Monday to Thursday and can also take your dogs overnight during this time. If you are going away on holiday then you can take advantage of her pet hotel service. Catherine hosts dogs in town and then on her farm south of Auckland over the weekend, where they live on her home farmlet. What an ideal scenario for my Labrador and any other dog that she deems behaved enough to join her. You see it was labrador dog that had to pass the test of being good enough to join the Pampered Pooch club. Phew, luckily she made it!

They were recommended to me by my vet and it's the best tip I've ever had about dog care. When I first took Saffie in for a haircut, the owner was as careful with her as if she was her own. First, she let her just hang out with some other dogs that where there in the salon, so she could get used to the place before being handled. Next, the owner sat Saffie on her lap as she ate her lunch. After that, Saffie was ready to be groomed and she was pretty much wagging her tail the whole time, she loved the attention. The haircut she got was perfect - especially around the face, where she can sometimes come out looking a but too "snouty" - she looked like herself only tidier. You can check out some of the show dogs that Three Poodles have groomed on their website to get an idea of their work too. Last but perhaps most important, the staff working at Three Poodles are all amazing, not just the owner. They are so caring and gentle with the dogs, I wouldn't hesitate to leave Saffie with any of them.

The dogs get large pens and they are always clean and look well taken care of. The pets themselves don't seem very young, so if you're looking for a new baby puppy or bunny, I'd look elsewhere. Good thing about them is they sell puppies and kittens on behalf of the SPCA. Their staff seem like animal lovers who know a little bit about pets, but not people who know a lot. I've been bunny hunting this weekend and was disappointed they only had two bunnies, and they were pretty big.

Instead, upon a recommendation from my neighbor's landlord I decided to give Toko's Dogs a ring. Left a message, was called back immediately, and my little Tilly was booked in for the next morning. Toko and her staff are truly trained professionals and after the 3-hour session, Tilly came out looking, smelling, and feeling like a million bucks! I was given a $10 voucher for the next full groom, a loyalty card (10th groom is free!), and a little adorable bow in Tilly's hair. Price is very competitive to the market standard, facilities are clean/temperature controlled, and very accommodating. I have a small dog and so can only really vouch for the grooming skills for small dogs.

We looked at a few other places too, but none had the set up that K9 Heaven does, it's very modern for a country type kennel, it's not really a kennel, we liked the people there and the atmosphere, most of the dogs didn't even look up at us they were that relaxed. We were very impressed with the set up. The staff are lovely & approachable, and there are a number of staff which was very impressive for a kennel. There is no hiding of anything like we'd had experienced in the past, and with a simple appointment we were able to go in, and see the small dog area, and have a good induction of what they get up too. Things that stuck out for us, was workers everywhere, a separate small dog area, not caging of dogs, and a good fun system of events that the dogs big and small all seemed to be very happy with. This place doesn't charge huge amounts for the small things, and every dog is treated as equal, they all get runs out on the dog farm, health checks and everything else. The dogs have an air conditioned house! The owners are lovely, younger than your usual kennel owners, and very welcoming. They are also there 24/7 with the dogs. Some places we've been too in the past are very money orientated, we didn't get that feeling with K9 Heaven. This is not your typical kennel, this place oozed a professional element that as business owners ourselves we were extremely taken aback with for what kennels are, and have been in the past. Well worth the price, we were, after all paying double K9 Heaven's nightly rate, just for a half hour walk from a walking service which we found astounding. Highly recommend, we know our doggies are looking forward to their 2015 January stay!, and just had a great week there recently!!! And our doggies came home smelling like roses!!

I bought a 1Kg bag of HIll's Science Diet cat pellets for $21.00, not too bad a price. This shop had a good range of pet toys, grooming gear and a selection of pet food available. As I was heading out the door I noticed they had animals for sale, so I went and said hello to a bunch of sleeping kittens, one puppy and some beautiful birds and rabbits. The rabbits were particularly adorable, but it was a shame the cages were quite cramped for such big creatures. The staff were really friendly and attentive too.

Recently I went there and a rep from one of the food companies was there giving out samples and explaining the benefits of that new variety so that was helpful. I've also bought excellent cat toys there. The best one has been the cardboard cat throne. It sits at the end of my desk, and my cat sleep on it all the time (instead of sleeping on my keyboard), and the corrugated cardboard is exciting for her to scratch (instead of the couch) so it's a win all round.
