They have a decent selection of all your basic pet needs. Their fishtanks are spotless and all the fish look healthy and active. I'd highly recommend buying fish or shrimps or whatnot from here. Ironically they also have a fishing section, so if you want to catch live fish for killing and eating, you can get supplies for that here as well. They cover all the basic pet supplies, like cats and dogs and birds and fish and guinea pigs and outdoor birds. They also sell birds and bunnies as well as fish if you're looking for one of those. But they still have anything a start up fish owner would need, and will gladly order anything that they don't have in stock. It helps if you speak Dutch though, since their English is so-so. We went here to get a tank and some goldfish, and the woman owner walked us through every step of everything we would need. Unlike in a typical pet store, they seem most interested in keeping the fish healthy and happy, and selling stuff is their second priority. They don't follow you around and push you to buy anything. They seem much more interested in cutting up fresh cucumbers, for example, to feed to the fish to make them happy. I believe it's important to support real fish stores when buying fish, since they care more about the fish than a store that makes its money of of selling cat and dog food. This place is a great example of that, and I highly recommend it.

He is very helpful and I never feel that he wants to sell you more then necessary - I just got a puppy and I was really "what else could I buy, please tell me...?!" and he was like "trust me, you have everything, you don't need more" - and trust me, i would have bought everything he would have offered me. I take his attitude with a smile, behind that there is a very nice man that has a great shop with great stuff (also amazing for presents !) The owner was kind and friendly, and even threw in a fish scoop (net?) for free as he was out of new ones. He calmly suggested all the supplies I'd need for my first little aquarium. Yes, they're cash only for some reason, but luckily there's an ING cash machine just a minute away. I got to talk a lot with the owner and turns out that he's been running it for 25 years! That's a big inning in a competitive marketplace like Amsterdam. I have no idea if it's generally an expensive shop, but I ended up getting a lot of stuff for quite cheap. All in all, a wonderful experience. The house cat needs to go on a diet but loves attention. The only suggestion I have is for them to get with the times and start accepting debit cards.

Everyone with a cat knows that when you leave town and they stay behind they become the king/queen of the castle. Without a homecoming bribe to be allowed back in is not a good thing. This kitty was getting some catnip for sure and a few little toys that make noise. Shopping in Amsterdam as a tourist can be tricky. We checked to make sure catnip was allowed to come through security and customs. Didnt wabt the govenment to think it was something else. Payment is also tricky as some places are Euro only payment. We did our shopping and continued on our mery way knowing that the kitty was taken care of from Amsterdam.

I'm ambivalent about the location as the store closest to me, now recently closed, was literally just down the street a few hundred meters or so. This location is about a kilometer or more away. It's a nice walk with the dog. It's funny but this is another one of those places that you go to for supplies that you don't really think about til it's gone and then you have to find another place to get your supplies. Regardless, I'm thankful there is this location and I can still get my dog her treats.
