They rescue these amazing cats most people would not think twice about. I finally had the chance last year on my way to Myrtle Beach to visit this magnificent haven. I had sent a personal message & made sure my husband and I could visit & it coordinated with our travel time. They could not be more accommodating. It's about a 7 hour ride from Philly. The workers/ volunteers knew all the cars names and most of their back stories. I of course feel in love with them all. Surprisingly my husband, who was a little hesitant on going because he said it would be sad seeing blind cats, had a few favorites of his own. There are 6 different rooms you can go and play & interact with the cats. The cats are so excited to see you & automatically are ready to give you love. We are stopping there again this year on our way to Myrtle! I can't wait.

Playground review: it's a super nice space and is designed for ages 2-12. There's a ton of different equipment for all abilities. However frustrating when older/larger kids are wreaking havoc and abusing the equipment while moms are talking with their backs turned away from the playground. Don't be those moms.

My child enjoyed every opportunity to meet animals in a relaxed and educational environment. They have a wonderful playground outside and is free. The animal tour is $10 / adult and $3 for kids. Worth every penny, my kid had never enjoyed animals until this trip. The outdoor animals are in excellent comfort and clean areas. We fed goats and pigs. Then we went inside and saw Guinea pigs, rabbits, and a lizard! Phenomenal educational opportunity!! You do need a reservation for the animal tours and they have summer camp so call Ahead to make sure it's available. Parking is in the lot.

The first was "Mister", an incredibly sweet, miniature schnauzer with silver hair (just like mine), so we were inseparable for the rest of his years on earth. The next was "Nakey Jake", an amazing, two-year-old, Sphynx! He's my hairless fur baby who is loving, playful, and sassy. He's proud of his uniqueness, and loves to cuddle when I'm home from work. You'll notice that neither of mine had (or have) actual fur. Schnauzers have hair, and Sphynx have no fur. The SPCA staff and volunteers in Lenoir County are simply wonderful! They care for some very special animals who end up abandoned for some reason, and they keep their stress levels low while finding them the best homes. Adopt one today!

Please everyone if you want a new fur-mily member go check this SPCA to see which dogs and cats they will have. They change all the time so what is there this week won't be the same next week. Keep shopping around each week if you are serious about getting a pet. They occasionally also have other animals (other than dogs and cats) so call and/or go stop by so you can bring one home with you. You will be saving a life.
