North Star is wonderful, very sweet staff. They've been great for scheduling on late notice and being thorough in their recommendations. They follow up to check in the first few days via text too which I appreciate. I have experienced a couple small annoyances (went to pick up pet from procedure within 30 minutes of their closing to find out they wanted to keep him overnight- totally fine just wish they called when they realized it would likely be overnight... also some tests being recommended that i question if they were worth getting but also I understand that it is good to rule things out) which is why I am not giving 5 stars, but would definitely recommend this place overall. 90% of the time the communication is wonderful and they are very friendly towards my baby - of all the places in the area this is the one I trust most! read more

I've been taking my dog here for years and now take my cat. The staff are wonderful but what's not great is the scheduling. If you've got a sick animal, you're out of luck and are told to drive to Southern Pines to a walk-in clinic. Since Covid, getting/keeping on-duty Vets seems to have been a challenge, (from what I can tell), which I'm sure leads to the scheduling issue. Unfortunately, if my Vet can't work in one of their patients who's sick, I'll have to look elsewhere. read more

Wow! The service that I have received from North Star Veterinarian has been phenomenal! I drive a little further and pay a little more than I did at my previous vet but as they say, "You get what you pay for". The customer service and attention to detail goes unnoticed. Our dog Nibbler had a big surgery and we were so nervous. I received phone calls, text messages, and even a picture of him prior to the big day. They explained everything. The doctors called prior to surgery and after. They helped me to not stress as bad. We have moved our other 2 pets over there too. Thank you North Star for treating our pets like "family". Great hospital with caring staff. Have used them for all my dogs for last 10 years. Always thorough!

Terrible service. My dog had an emergency situation and they wouldn't even see him. They told me to go somewhere else. What is the point of having a vet if the will not even take care of their patients in an emergency? I had even spoke with the vet here about my dogs situation and was told if he showed any signs to bring him in, but when it happens they tell me to wait until the next day. He could have died if I waited till the next day, but I guess they don't care about the animals at all. I ended up taking my dog to Cypress Lakes Animal Hospital and they were so nice and caring and saw my dog right away. He needed to be hospitalized and it was a good thing we were able to have him seen right away. Northstar didn't even give us the time of day and was very rude to us. They have lost our business and I suggest that others go someplace else as well. read more

Kim is a wonderful vet and incredible person (not to mention hilarious and a delight to chat with)! Everyone that works at the stable are top notch and keep the place running smoothly and keep things very clean. The barn community is super strong and low maintenance/drama. Very cruel mean hateful awful people. When im finally getting my life back in order and felt like things were working out they let me go. Said I brought to much personal stuff to work. I ask to use the shower cause I don't have water or power right now and it wasn't an issues everytime I called out or asked off to go do things they were ok with it until I guess it wasn't ok. They are not helpful they tell you it's ok act like they understand and then let you go and treat you like your nothing. They said go leave the property your making a scene. You don't know what a scene is I didn't have a leash either or a ride but o ya ill walk I guess they were going to call the police go right ahead. read more

After getting different doctors repeatedly at our previous vet, this one is the best vet we have ever had in the 3 states we've lived. Dr. Krivit and all the other staff were so sweet to our dog when she started vomiting & we didn't know why. They even sent us pictures of her to give us peace of mind when she had to stay over a few days. They were in constant contact with us about their treatment, even outside of their normal hours and were so caring like our pup was their own. We got to come and visit her too while she was being treated. I am very hesitant to leave our dog or cat with any boarding or vet but I felt very comfortable leaving them with Dr. Krivit's team. I would never ever take our pets anywhere else. They are part of our fur babies' family! read more

North Star is an amazing facility. A lot of the comments about emergencies giving one star can be truthful though. North Star is NOT an emergency hospital. Just like if you were to walk into your General family practitioner's office with an emergency, they are not able to treat you. They are amazing for annual appointments, minor nonemergent concerns, and surgery. They can fit you in on the schedule within a few days, sometimes even the next day for slightly emergent but not life-threatening appointments, just like a general practitioner or a pediatric doctor's office. But if your animal is on the verge of life or death maybe consider a veterinary clinic geared for emergencies. The doctors there advocate for your animals every step of the way and take your budget into mind for everything as well. All of the staff is very compassionate and hard-working. They also use alternative medicine such as chiropractics and acupuncture. The clinic is kept amazingly clean and convenient as well. Nothing ever smells like a wet dog, even when it's raining! They can take emergencies occasionally depending on your schedule, but rest assured they take their schedule very seriously and would never let you sit waiting for an hour like some clinics in the area. You are their top priority when walking into this clinic which I love. I took my dog in for what I assumed was a UTI, and North Star did all appropriate testing to find out my dog has some inflammation in her urinary tract not caused by bacteria. We have been using alternative methods to maintain it and it has been such a drastic and amazing change. Though alternative medicine has always been something I have been skeptical about, I have nothing but the highest regard for the staff at North Star. read more

I went back here because I used to take my dog here when we used to live here. They used to be great. I took my dog in for allergy concerns and was completely ignored and prescribed a daily medication for a completely different issue that my dog wasn't even having. At that moment i was made to feel like my poor dog was going to have a hard life and be in pain for the rest of her life and have to be medicated for an injury that we didn't even know ever existed. My dog was still playful and very active and not showing any signs of favoring her leg the doctor told me was injured. She also refused to treat for possible allergies and told me the only reason my dog was chewing was for pain and not allergies even though NC is bad for pet allergies and symptoms started right after we moved back here. Long story short the medication didn't do anything helpful and my dog kept chewing. I took her elsewhere to get an allergy injection and the chewing completely stopped. Then when I called the vet to explain all of this happened I was told I could do a walk in appointment for further injections. When I called today I was told I absolutely cannot walk in and have to have an appointment. I am super frustrated at being ignored, lied to, and paying for stuff that is unnecessary and making my dog take medication that she didn't even need. Absolutely unacceptable!!!! read more

Our daughter was new to the Fayetteville area and her dog was very ill. The people here TRULY cared for her and her dog. They were thorough, professional, and very kind. Another vet in the area was slow to respond even though the dog was sick and in pain. North Star took the situation seriously and got them in right away . We just moved to the area and decided on this vet since it is closer to our home. Initially, I was very impressed. They seem to support holistic approaches to treating animals with the understanding that modern medicine is also very important. Then our dog started behaving funny. This is our first pet, so there is so much that we don't know. My husband brought her in, we had suspected a uterine infection (per a dog expert) and just wanted to cover the bases. They took her away and brought her back and never informed my husband as to what they did. They just told him they gave her an "injection". They said she was healthy, and sent home a kit to grab a urine sample. When they returned, I had to call the clinic to find out what they did. They were rude, and come to find out they gave my dog a shot for nasea even though she wasn't even vomiting. Fast forward, I decided to give them another chance and still have my dog spade in their clinic. They wanted her at 7 a.m. and I informed them of my work schedule so they set up for my pup to come in the night before at 8 p.m. I was told to call the emergency number so they knew I was coming(they have someone in the clinic at all times). I called and they were rude. They told me they have no knowledge of a dog being brought in. They tell me they will call me back. An hour later I still have not received a call. I drive over and no one answers the door. I called 10 times and no one answered. So unprofessional and unorganized. read more

We recently had to use North Star for our dog who was very ill, and sadly had to be put to sleep. The nursing staff and vet who took care of our dog were very compassionate and understanding of our feelings towards our dog. Under the circumstances, we could not have picked a better hospital to look out for our dog. Their compassion will not be forgotten. read more

Here's the one liner "TOOK MY DOG IN TO GET A ROUTINE SURGERY (NEUTERED) ENDED UP HAVING MY DOG BLEED OUT INTERNALLY FOR OVER 2 HOURS IN A CAGE AT NORTH STAR VETERINARY, HE HAD TO GO THROUGH MAJOR SURGERY TO SAVE HIS LIFE." --long story but if you care about your animals you will not take them here--. took my Doberman in to get neutered and THEN get a call later that day saying there was a "complication" and that he had to go back into surgery. My dog got out of surgery the first time, where they failed to close off the arteries from being neutered and then sewed him back up. At that point he was bleeding into his stomach for over 2 hours in a cage where "techs" did there routine inspections. They didn't catch anything until my dog finally passed out (he's a trooper) when they pulled out an IV. They rush him back to surgery to pump the blood and save his life. At that point they called my wife for the first time and explained what they did. They threw all this medical terminology onto my wife on the phone saying that you need to come by and see your dog, hes going to have to spend the night. Dr. Roberson made it out to seem to my family that my dog was going to die. I find out about it and accompanied my wife to North star and get this story about how they basically screwed up my dogs neutered surgery and insulted me by saying that i would have to pay for they extra surgery, supplies and what not to keep him alive. The words 1000 something dollars, on top of the 300 dollar neutered came out of one fools mouth. If your wondering if i really did pay that amount to get my dog. I didn't. I made them fully aware that If I would have picked up my dog on time like they said i could. HE WOULD HAVE DIED AT MY HOUSE. their response "that would have been unfortunate". Am I supposed to by happy and thankful that my dog was alive? Because that's how they were when I showed up in person. "Hes fine, Hes stable, He is going to be alright". No, I was pissed. Pissed that my dog had to suffer, or actually slowly die. And praise GOD that some lucky soul realized something was wrong. I would have made it my life goal to shut down this place for good. read more

Liked " Dec. 2021, my yorkie, Charlie, was diagnosed with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE) probably stress related, and would've died if left untreated. Charlie was treated at an emergency vet and recovered. We were given instructions to follow up with our vet, North Star, which we did. Also given instructions that in the event the HGE flares up again, Charlie needs immediate treatment. February 8, Charlie was boarded at a really nice boarding facility for 1 week while my family was on vacation. Charlie was well taken care of. Prior to boarding, there were plans in place in the event he had an HGE issue. We returned home and picked Charlie up, he was Extremely excited, almost to excited which caused an HGE flare up which is an EMERGENCY due to the risk of death if untreated. We Called North Star to have Charlie seen, they were rude on the phone, said wait until tomorrow, after my wife expressed her concern, they suggested taking him to another Vet.......... Easy enough!!!, Made some phone calls, we switched vets immediately. And wouldn't you know it, Charlie could've died if not treated. Thanks to Cypress Lakes animal hospital, Charlie was seen and treated, he will also be kept over night, BECAUSE IT WAS AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. So, if you're looking for a vet that doesn't care about your pets well-being, North Star is it. If you're looking for a rude vet, North Star is it. If you're looking for a vet that'll tell you to go somewhere else, North Star is it. If you're looking for a vet that simply can't work your pet in during an emergency, even when Death is possible, North Star is it. " read more

Horrible place. We had to euthanize our 14 yr old sweet girl. They could not have been more cruel. They claimed she was overdue for her rabies (she was NOT; they misread her records). Then due to their own incompetence a vet stuck themselves while trying to euthanize our dog. Then we were told they'd have to autopsy our dog to make sure she didn't have rabies. She was up to date on her rabies; she was a sweet mini dachshund who never bit anyone and never was bit; she'd just been to the ER vet not that long ago- they could see from those records she had no bites; they could examine her themselves to see she had no bites- but moreover, NORTHSTAR gave her last rabies shot and she was up to date. The entire experience was a nightmare. One mistake after the next from Northstar. On an already horrible day. They ended up admitting their mistakes. But that doesn't make up for what they put us through. We were there for hours. read more

I've been taking my babies here for several years now. They are always extremely loving and helpful. Last week I had to make the heart wrenching decision to put my 13 year old baby Neko to sleep due to health issues. I was in the office after 10pm. They met me and did an exam. He made sure I understood the problem and steps needed. He made sure I knew what to expect every step of the way. Yesterday I picked up the most beautiful memorial with Nekos pawprints. I switched to North Star Vet Clinic because the staff from the front desk, Groomer and Vets care about your fur babies and don't just see dollar signs when you walk in the door . I have several dogs and when I changed to this clinic last year it was the best move ever. Yearly boosters , grooming services, and emergency visits till having to say goodbye to my Beloved Gracie they have gone above and beyond in every area. I was so excited for the doggy daycare/ training considering my husbands deployed and I have a full time job but today I was charged for a flea pill I didn't give consent to and he's VERY sensitive and when I picked him up he was covered in pee absolutely soaking to the point it dripped into my car. We first found North Star when one of our dogs was sick on a weekend. They handled us with genuine care. That same fur baby became very ill a year later. North Star eased us through the process of having to say goodbye to our Harley-man. Since then we rescued two more fur babies. North Star has been very kind and patient with our girls. Truly an incredible veterinary office! I had an issue with my lab's hips and they were able to get me in the same day without an additional fees. We have been back five time since, treating the same issue and the atmosphere and personalities there have yet to change; the staff are all warm, receptive, friendly, kind, and caring. A rarity in the vet world, they have a Doctor who is a certified animal chiropractor, treating dogs and horses. My lab has had one "adjustment" and it went great. And didn't cost an arm and a leg! This amazing experience is not limited to just me! Two years ago my fiance took his 18 year old lab here to be put down, it was just that time. When he got there, they greeted him, and took him to a comfy little room with a couch and blanket, somewhere he could enjoy the last few minutes of his beloved dog's life. The treated the dog like she was a loved family member and understood what my fiance was going through. This is not common and should be treasured in a veterinary office. I will never use another vet again! read more
