This is a smaller PetSmart store than most but it always seems to have what I need. I took our dogs in for nail trimming the other day and they did a great job with Eddie. We struggle at home with the two of us trying to get it done. One staff was able to do it with almost no fuss! Then our dog that like sit needed two staff but that was only because he was losing his mind about wanting to meet another dog in the store! I would recommend their grooming service! read more

Update: The salon mgr did reach out to me apologized for delay in reaching out to me. The delay was a result of a mind lapse on the part of mgmt. While I won't be returning with my pup I do appreciate the effort and apology provided by the salon manager. As such I'll increase my 1 star review to a 3 star. My dog is still not healthy so hopefully the meds she's on and rest she's been given works! ----------------- Do NOT take your dog here. My chihuahua was in the grooming salon located at the emerald hills location in sherwood park alberta on March 24th 2024. She came straight home after the appointment and has not been outside or been around any dogs since her time at your grooming salon. I live in a condo, she is pee pad and astroturf trained, and treadmill trained. All of her shots are up to date. She was rushed to the emergency vet on March 31st with a diagnosis of kennel cough / rhinitis / reverse sneeze. The only place she has been where she has access to other dogs or where other dogs have been is at petsmart emerald hills location. I contacted the store yesterday and spoke to the assistant manager who said he would speak with the salon manager who was off yesterday and someone would get back to me today. As of the writing of this, no one from the emerald hills location has contacted me today. I wanted to bring to bring this to your attention because as a long time loyal customer of petsmart in general and for the past couple of years the emerald hills grooming salon I felt it was imperative to let the company know this happened to my tiny 8 lb dog at your establishment and to ensure someone checks into this and why it happened so another dog and their owner does not go through the experience my dog and my fiance and I have gone thru since this very upsetting and very expensive diagnosis. It has been an eye opening costly endeavor for sure! A grand total of $341.20 was unnecessarily spent on vets and medications to help my chihuahua get back to her normal healthy self. I have been a pet owner for 30+ years. I understand and appreciate that where more than 1 dog is kennel cough may happen. Nevertheless, when I trust this company with my dog, I am trusting she will come back to me as healthy as she was when she is dropped off. So I've been coming here for a couple years now to buy my dog food/cat food. The staff have always been friendly and as helpful as can be when needed. Having worked in a pet food store myself I tend to be fairly self sufficient in the store so maybe that helps. I find their prices to always be competitive and if I can find dog or cat food on sale - I tend to be that person who will buy two. I used their grooming services here for the first time this Saturday for a puppy bath. They were super accommodating when I called to let them know I was running about 10 minutes late. They were finished before their quoted time. And were extremely friendly and complimentary about my puppy. I would bring him back here in a heartbeat for more baths. read more

Only pet store in Sherwood Park...and it's not even all that old. So they have the monopoly! Pretty decent. Like any other bug pet store. I often get fish food here for my 3 tanks for the above reason. Service has always been good. Store is presentable. We take our bichon cross here to get groomed and not only do they put them in cages in the back for 2 of the 3 hours it takes to "groom" them but they also do a below average job. There were tufts of hair left and his face was cut uneven. We have had way better from other groomers that take less time and who charge the same. I would NOT recommend. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. Individuals in the grooming salon have poor communication skills and people skills in general. The overall environment was unfriendly and it made us feel as if we were an inconvenience at 9am in the morning. I called Petsmart on Sunday to ask about getting my cats nails trimmed. I made an appointment for Monday morning. At no time did the girl I spoke to ask me if my cats shots were up to date. When we got there we were asked if the shots were up to date. We weren't sure so they called the vet and told us our cat had to have her rabies shot before they could trim her nails. My husband works crazy hours and made a special trip there with our cat. This could have all been avoided if the girl I talked to Sunday had asked me about the shots or told me what their policies are. The employees should be asking specific questions when people make appointments so we don't waste their time or ours. read more

My dog was improperly groomed at this location as a puppy. She is of a breed in which fur is not supposed to be shaved or trimmed. Despite my request NOT to trim or shave my dogs fur (she was there ONLY for a bath and brush), her entire bottom side and behind all legs were shaved which now results in fur that grows back much longer, more dense, clumped together and matted almost like dreads. As a result of this, I now have to take my dog for regular grooming appointments. Against my better judgement, I continued to take my dog to be groomed here. I pay an outrageous amount, over $100 for a bath/brush & nail trim, in addition to a shave only of the matted fur caused by the initial improper groom. I am by no means satisfied with the groom she receives here as my dog still comes home with matted fur. Despite this, I gave the groomers the benefit of the doubt because I found them to be friendly and they appeared to be good with my dog. That is until today, when I drove 45 minutes out of my way (I live out of town) to drop my dog off at 7 a.m for a groom, only to be called 10 minutes later asking me to come pick her up. According to the groomer, my dog was "too stressed out" and "panting" excessively. The groomer continued to explain that due to a new policy in place, "stressed out dogs" need to be sent home. While I am aware that my dog does not thoroughly enjoy being brushed (as I have done so, myself, numerous times), I have heard from several different groomers, following the dozens of grooming appointments my dog has had, that my dog was great, behaved perfectly and that there were no concerns. This particular groomer, who later identified herself as the manager, could clearly use some better training as I have never been made aware of any other groomer having the issue that she allegedly experienced. This manager was incredibly unprofessional when I arrived to pick up my dog and when I told her that I would not be returning, she said "good, your dog isn't welcome back." The issue is not my dog, the issue is poorly trained and uneducated staff and management. My dog coat has been ruined as a result of this. The service I received today was horrendous and I certainly will never return to this PetSmart, or any other PetSmart for that matter. read more

I am not impressed with this particular petsmart. I have reptiles, and I find that they do not keep up on their stock, at least not in the reptile section. I'll be looking for something and find it out of stock, and if I come back a week later thinking they would get weekly orders, and they still don't have it. Product on shelves is always a mess and usually not in the right spots. I know it is customers that do this but an employee should be going around checking this several times a day, and making the store look presentable. I've been trying to buy wax worms from here too, and I was told that their supplier was sending them dead or dying? I went back weekly asking for wax worms, and it was the same story everytime. Yet if I check out a different petsmart they'll have them? Today I had to pick up mealworms and I didn't have enough time to drive to a store I want to support, so I decided to try this petsmart. I asked a girl for mealworms, she went in the back to the fridge to get them, when she came out she kind of shoved them in my hand without even looking at me. I said 'thank-you' and she just walked away without saying anything. When I enter the store maybe once every three times I go there someone will greet me, and ask me if I need help. Sometimes I'll walk in and if its not busy they'll be 3 employees standing at the front who will watch me as I walk in and not even say hi. I won't be shopping there anymore. read more

They do not even deserve this one star! I walked in and was immediately over whelmed by the smell of animal waste. The oops stations were full to the brim of dirty tissues and animal waste, there was a staff member near the front of the store screaming about how she just ran across the road to retrieve a dog that got out the grooming room, the store was a mess, the habitats where the snakes etc are kept were horrifically dirty, the animals looked lethargic and depressed. There was no one around for me to ask about products and then when I finally choose my items I went up to the cash register and the girl was just chatting to another member of staff about what she was going to do at the weekend and completely ignored me so I waited for a minute and she was still talking so I just left. Absolutely diabolical! I will be making a formal complaint to Petsmart! If it's this much of a shambles on the shop floor imagine how they are treating the animals?!
