It's a little on the pricey side but hey this is Pontcanna - its the price you pay for trendy town. The only other downside was the staff could do with being a little happier too! That being said, the food and the venue were fantastic. We ordered their afternoon cream tea and it was delicious! See the pics for proof. The venue was stunning and albeit needing cleaning, the setup with the back garden and the gorgeous interior was fantastic! It's well worth a visit to Tessa's if you are in the area and it can be very easily reached from Dunster Castle, just a minute away from the National Trust parking lot.

Usually finding one gluten free offering on a menu is a bonus, but to find at least half a dozen was absolutely amazing! If only I had reason to visit Dunster more often...

Sitting inside is very pleasant as are the staff, especially the manager, who I think i called Hugo but to me its big selling point is its outside area. It over looks the oval basin and faces the sun. I have spent many a summer day having a few cheeky ones chatting away whilst the sun goes into the bay. So if this isn't your bag - stay away (that way there is more room for the rest of us who do).

Of course I chose the veggie options which included Garlic Mushrooms, Mediterranean vegetables and feta in oil and a good stack of pitta. It was yummy, not exactly mind blowing but really tasty. What does make this place unique is the fantastic view over the bay, so essentially that's what your paying for with your £7 glass of champagne and limited tapas menu. Menu offerings included Welsh (or at least Welsh-inspired) choices, which were made fresh and were very tasty. We were lucky - because we were off on time, it wasn't crowded when we stopped by so we were seated and served quickly. But it is a small space (including a bar area up front) so I imagine it might get very crowded during meal hours. Afterwards, we enjoyed a stroll through the arcade, which has some interesting, unique shops including a costume shop, a games shop, a cheese shop, and a violin maker.

But when I was paying for my meal, I started a discussion with the cashier; telling her I was there at the recommendation of my hotel and she asked where I was from. When I told her my hotel recommended I try their welsh cake, she offered me a complimentary taste of one. This kind of friendly atmosphere and effort to make the customer feel welcome would definitely make me want to return if I'm in the area again. As a word of warning to anyone looking at the Yelp information: Seasons is opened until late in the evening, but it is just bar service. I initially tried going here my first night in town (after seeing the hours on here said they were open until 11PM); but I was told that the food service ends between 7 and 8 PM. If you filter on "Open Now", this will pop up. Just be aware.

I'd been there before about a month or so previously so that a man I was seeing could break up with me in a public place (presumably to guarantee his safety), so have since thought of it fondly. They have all of the usual breakfast/lunch type items. Delicious chunky baguettes and bagels, full English breakfasts and coffee in abundance. The place is clean, well decorated and inviting with good friendly service, fair trade and organic food and lots of ethical goodies like recycled napkins. We both opted for the 'Vegetarian Breakfast', which is usually a lacklustre affair but in this case consisted of a gorgeous vegetarian sausage, two fried eggs, a large grilled mushroom, an espresso cup filled with beans (a nice touch presentation wise, it looked super cute), two grilled tomatoes and two pieces of toast. Included was a cup of tea or coffee and all for the bargain price of £4.75. We left quite full and set up for the day with smiley faces, despite the fact I got a bit of egg in my hair and my companion dropped baked beans down the front of her coat. Everything in here is very good value, and I think if it was located in one of the busier arcades it would be constantly heaving with people! Instead, it's tucked away in the quieter and more hidden Wyndham Arcade. The cafes' specilaities are its range of breakfasts through which it offers a full english, veggie breakfast and special brunch (all of which are available throughout the day). The cafe has a bit of a rugby theme with rugby pictures & photos dotted along the wall and this extends to its breakfast baguettes range whereby you can purchase a Triple Crown baguette (bacon, onions, mushroom & black pudding) or a GrandSlam baguette (bacon, egg, sausage, mushroom & tomato). So it makes the ideal starting point to the day of an international rugby union match involving Wales. The place is very clean, tidy & bright and is also well staffed (so you are always been quick to be seen to & served). The staff are very friendly & helpful in point of fact. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and is one of my regular ports of call on a trip to Cardiff to see a rugby match, gig/concert etc.
