Just as cute as the reviews said you would be! Lovely views you have of Bute Park and Cardiff Castle. You lure your guests with seating outside under tents and inside with your decor charm. Oh, and the treats you serve! Lovely traditional breakfasts and high tea for lunch. I'm in love with your ambiance as much as your sweet and savory treats!

This place was really charming and the perfect stop before/after a castle tour. We went in without reservations and were immediately seated. The staff was extremely kind and inviting. The lunch items were great. We weren't hungry enough for the afternoon tea set, but it looked delicious.

Such a splendid way to spend a beautiful sunny day out in Cardiff. So much food for the price! We got the one per person option and got 2 whole sandwiches each which was a total of 8 1/4 sandwiches After that we got a scone, and an option of a slice of cake. I loved the decor in the house and the home-style but royal feel in the tea room. Where we were sitting there was a walk of the Cardiff castle just outside our window so it felt like we were in the castle being served tea! There's also so many fun things to do around the area before/after tea. We walked our full belies off by strolling through a nearby park where the tearoom was situated. I would definitely try to make it back here next time I'm in town.

We got a reservation within an hour and had a lovely time with afternoon tea. £17 for one, £30 for two. A good price and more food than you can eat! They're used to people taking their piece of cake to go, for instance. Servers were lovely. Scones were amazing and fresh-baked! Would recommend to anyone

Wonderful spot for afternoon tea in Cardiff near Cardiff Castle on the edge of Bute park. The teas are excellent, sandwiches delicious, and the carrot cake an absolute moist delight! The clotted cream and jam were great but I found the scones a bit drier than usual. Other than that, excellent. We sat indoors, but there is also an outdoor seating area. I would definitely recommend this place!

Afternoon tea perfection. 16.45£ for a single.

If you're visiting Cardiff and sightseeing at the castle then a visit next door to Pettigrew Tea Rooms (located at the entrance to Bute Park) is an absolutely perfect way to finish out the afternoon. If it's nice out, sit outside and enjoy a view of the park while you dine on high-quality, tasty fare. As a tourist from the US with limited access to legitimate afternoon tea offerings, I opted for the afternoon tea menu which included a generous amount of finger sandwiches, a hefty scone, and a slice of cake. Everything was delectable and despite wanting to eat everything, it was simply too much food for one person - come hungry! I stopped by alone on a weekday afternoon without reservations and had no problems getting a spot. The waiter was easily able to accommodate my vegetarian sandwich request. Overall highly recommend this authentic tea room with a beautiful atmosphere, perfect location, and absolutely delicious food and tea.

One of the Best tea rooms i have even been to. So Original, the outdoor garden and chairs and round tables, vintage china and cutlery. Every thing seems great in this tea room and its a perfect spot if you go at summer time. They have different types of tea and the great news is; not tea bags and a very nice selection of home made cakes and scones and of corse they offer breakfast and lunch.

    My teacup was so pretty!

Introducing Science Ice Cream - Wales' first liquid nitrogen ice cream parlour!…read more Liquid nitrogen ice cream is different, in the best possible way. As each and every serving is made right in front of your eyes, it's fresh. That means that the flavour is everything it could be. As it's frozen in seconds, it's also very smooth. That means that there's a velvety texture and a creaminess that you won't find in the tub at the bottom of your freezer. The Science: The liquid nitrogen rapidly creates miniscule ice crystals, quickly evaporating after coming into contact with the ice cream base. Liquid nitrogen boils at -196C, meaning that there won't be a trace of it left by the time you've given yourself brain freeze. I think it's safe to say if Science lessons were this much fun (and edible) I would have left school with a completely different career path.

Not only is the location wonderful and a perfect location to stop and rest while visiting the castle, but the ice cream is just downright tasty. Our whole trip to Wales was wonderful, and we stopped here to top it off before we headed to the airport. The staff engaged us in a supportive and friendly manner and wasn't too pushy. We felt very welcomed. It is on the pricey side, but not ridiculous.

I've noticed recently, and I wonder if anyone else as well, that there have been a crop of businesses in the last few years that charmingly possess more substance than style. I'm sick to death of these slick, pretentious cafes that offer little more than Tesco-quality sandwiches at a premium price. Caffe Gelato is a welcomed reprieve, with a quaint and bustling atmosphere (it was a Saturday, after all), and in a perfect position to catch all of the tourists in the castle's orbit. Now for the gelato: The apple crumble I had was creamy and delicious, and the fact that it was a warm day made it all the more enjoyable. If you're fancy something a little more substantial, Caffe Gelato offers a selection of paninis, baguettes and salads, as well as coffee, smoothies and drinks.

Caffe Gelato, however, has sprung up here recently, and offers tourists, shoppers and workers a new city centre café to grab a drink, some lunch, or a generous gelato. When I've wandered past it's generally been busy with customers wolfing down delicious looking paninis and salads, sipping a mug of coffee, or enjoying a smoothie. I've only tried their gelato, however, which is very good - but it's worth knowing that they actually have a far wider menu than their ice cream-themed title would suggest, if you want a full on lunch. The perfect place to cheer yourself up on a damp and drizzly day, or to grab an ice cream on your way to Bute Park when the sun's shining!
