Unless the cherry haired nymph forgets to shut off the Kardashians with the speed and embarrassment of a teenage boy when his parents catch him watching Scin-imax soft core with his sock dangling off him. Prices are more than fair, cheap actually. But it makes sense now as you pay what you get for. I haven't noticed if the price goes up when other tenders are working. Even with this 5 star service I still find myself returning on the reg. I don't know why, I'm guessing the fake gin has learned some real gin powers and has begun siphoning souls to make her blood strands of hair brighter and brighter. My only other explanation could be she grabbed red dye box#24 not 7 and didn't notice until time time. Btw this is the Fire locked sexpot at the moose....with the tattoos....and sometimes black rimmed glasses....not the one with the same description at Toms, The Point, Smokey Bones, Sharkys, Headkeeper, and 20 bars in the south side. Its in a school/community center, on the top floor in the gymnasium and generally has DJ'd nights, occasionally live bands. Open to all ages with a cover charge at the door, cash only. There are water fountains and usually a snack table for a small extra fee. The crowd can be very diverse in ages, from young high school students to elderly adults well into their 70s and the amount of people can be really hit or miss. If you are looking for nights where you have more advanced dancers and a bigger crowd, make sure to go on nights where there is a live band playing or when there is a workshop during the weekend in town. For the most part, you will see east coast swing dancers, the occasional lindy hopper and the even more rare advanced dancers. There is a beginner lesson for an hour before the dance starts and you do not need a partner to go to the lesson or the dance, although it can be more fun if you bring someone you already know. The dress code is very casual. There is a small private lot, but otherwise, it is street parking only in a residential area, so it can be difficult to find parking if you show up past 10pm. Otherwise, the dress code is very casual but be sure to wear comfortable shoes that can slide easily on the dance floor. There is a cover charge, cash only. Snacks can be purchased with a small donation. Parking is limited on the residential street, but usually still available if you arrive for the lesson. Those who are lucky enough to celebrate their birthday at Swing City will have their own special dance and be whisked around the floor by some of the top dancers in the city. All that said, I always feel a bit odd going to places like this and wonder if I belong, but we went for karaoke last night. When I went and sang I was really surprised at the kind words and pats on the back for my efforts (not that I am a good singer at all). The staff we ran into, the waitress, the bartender, and other patrons were all really nice. We had a good time and will go back next karaoke event.

I learned a little something about culture here. Not Slovak culture, but bingo fanatic culture, aka…read moregambling addiction. The space is wide open and airy with lots of long tables, each seating one to three players - many players took up entire tables with their excessive quantity of bingo cards, wide variety of dabbers (often in a specifically designed tote bag), and in some cases, an array of good luck charms. Bright fluorescent lights illuminate the scene and a balcony with overflow seating was our vantage point for observation (and play). Their website says they have a smoking floor and a non smoking floor, so I was imagining a darker smoke filled social hall, but there is now no smoking allowed and I soon realized that bingo is not a social game. With my one bingo card, I had twelve boards to keep up with (twelve is the minimum for play = $12), and let me tell you, I had a hard time staying with it - they call them out fairly rapidly! Chatting and joking with my friend was hardly possible without blowing our game. The food was super limited, low quality, mostly packaged junk. No alcohol is served. There is only one reason to attend and that is for the hope of winning money. There was an interesting buzz in the room toward the end of each game, like the group had a psychic (more like experienced) knowledge that bingo was about to be called. This collective murmur felt like a communal expression of frustration and anxiety. We try so hard, come so close and rarely succeed. The demographic of the room is statistically disadvantaged peoples. In addition to bingo, dealers on the floor sell other sorts of game tickets, like paper slot machine cards. The psychological exchange between the dealers and the players was like a crack deal; the dealers knew many of the players, knew when to come around, what to say and used lingo an outsider would not understand. There was an antsy desperation to win among the addicted, me, I just wanted to get outta there. With a packed house, there is no doubt someone is winning, that is the Slovak Catholic Sokols and their beneficiaries. As for the venue, although full of characters, it has no character itself - it is one of those big quick construction metal buildings.

It's open to the public for certain events throughout the year. We were here on St. Patrick's Day where a minuscule cover of $3 was charged. Beer prices were cheap and staff friendly. As you can imagine in St. Patrick's Day they were jam packed but the bartenders never lost their cool, never made you wait long and were nice. The crowd was crazy-fun and just a good time all around. The decor is older and lots of wood and kitschy stuff about including Kennedy family pics. Nice little gem in the city.

Green Oaks has a very nice pool with outdoor lunch seating, well maintained clay tennis courts, & a beautiful golf course. The club has a very accommodating staff, and friendly members. Drive time from Shadyside/Squirrel Hill area is only 15 minutes. Green Oaks is a hidden treasure. I joined last year as a tennis member & continued this year. In my opinion, this Club & Pike Run C.C. are the true definitions of quality "country" clubs.
