Acupuncturist Dale Tope is simply my best find in Austin. I can't believe that he doesn't have a line of patients snaking around the block and while he and his partner have 5 star reviews on Yelp, Google and Groupon, he always seems to be available for a visit within a day or two. Nearly every review begins with the author explaining that he/she went in feeling skeptical and left impressed. Dale has helped me, family members and friends to such an extent that we are all quite astonished. And that's for $65 a visit! Dale is also a registered nurse. I know you'll be tempted to scoff at me when you read this but I think he's a medical magician of sorts. How's that for a recommendation? As far as I know, he doesn't have pills that can make you disappear like the Chinese herbalist that helped Mia Farrow in the 1990 Woody Allen film "Alice," but I wouldn't be so surprised. You don't believe me, right? Read on... My mother had been to the orthopedist and had four physical therapy sessions for "water on the knee" and she could barely walk. After her first visit to Dale, she went shopping at Costco, Ikea and Central Market in one afternoon... walking comfortably. She completely recovered. My cousin's husband went to see Dale on crutches (also with knee trouble) and left Dale to do some gardening that very afternoon. I have rheumatoid arthritis in both hands and was waking up in the middle of the night from the pain. I went to see him twice and haven't suffered since. And get this... you know those little notches that older people get on their finger joints? He can help you get rid of them. He also offers a spray that not only helps with pain but makes bad bruises go away much faster than normal. I pinched a nerve in my neck (C7) and it was causing shooting pain down my left arm and at the base of my neck. When I moved to Texas one thing I didn't realize how bad my allergies are going to act up, mind you I haven't had any before that. I found Dale through a trusted friend. They asked if he could help with some possible neuropathy pain. I exchanged some email with Dale on the subject and decided I needed to meet him. I have never met anyone that understood both the eastern and western medicine. I healed up so much faster under Dales care then in physical rehabilitation. In the end Dale knew more about me and my medical history than my doctor! I am all healed up now and am very thankful to Dale for all he has done for me. On top of the acupuncture work, Dale really helped me sort out my diet and my blood work is better than it has ever looked before. One time I walked in after I had a sports injury to my back. I had a ton of knots in my muscles. I had never experienced Acupuncture for this type of thing. Dale could do more in 30 minutes than any 3 sessions of massage/myofacial/trigger point therapy I have used in the past for this type of injury. I was an acupuncture skeptic for years! When I tore a disk in my lower back, I was pregnant and did not have too many options as far as treatment. I gave Amy from Pflugerville Acupuncture a shot and am so glad I did! Amy is extremely knowledgeable about the body, women's health and pregnancy. She knew exactly what she safely could and could not do with me as far as pregnancy goes. I go in for back pain, but she also helps with all my aches and pains. In the beginning of my pregnancy she helped with my stress, nausea and stomach issues. Now she helps with my knee pain, headaches and keeps my back feeling good. I went every week for 3 weeks to get me back where I should be and now I go once a month for maintenance. IT WORKS AND DALE KNOWS HIS FIELD!!!! Was so skeptical before I went in here. I was recommended to Dale by my physician. I am going through a divorce and my stress had appeared in the form of insomnia (I LOVE TO SLEEP) and this burning pain in my neck and back. Myofascial massage had helped some but more or less a band-aid. I was to the point that I was getting manic and severely depressed. My internal organs were stressing in the form of hemorrhoids :-( I was a TOTAL HOT MESS. What did I have to loose by trying it....??? I've wanted to try acupuncture for years to help with my migraines, but since my husband is a skeptic, I haven't been able to until recently. I snagged a Living Social deal and was pleased to see how close Pflugerville Acupuncture is to my house. When I had my first appointment with Dale, I was even more pleased: he has 18 years of experience in nursing, so he has a thorough knowledge of both Western and Eastern health practices, and he can speak intelligently on both sides of that fence. Dale took the time to thoroughly explain what was going on and how he could rectify the problem. He helped me with hot flashes, insomnia, and has done a great deal to help my headaches (although naturally, I'm not a standard migraine patient, so I don't get as much benefit from acupuncture as either of us would like). I referred a friend to Dale, who helped him with foot issues related to diabetes. Dale also has a thorough knowledge of Chinese herbs and is in the process of opening an emporium in his office so he can sell them to folks who walk in. I was recently diagnosed with post concussion syndrome after an injury I sustained about seven weeks ago. I was having random extreme digestive issues and felt tired and stressed, however i didn't have any life stressors. After battling chronic disabling sciatic pain for over 10 months I was lucky to find Dale Tope at Pflugerville Acupuncture. I had already done bi-weekly physical therapy for 3 months and been on pain meds, muscle relaxers and spent hours laying on heating pads and ice packs to no avail. My next "option" was a steroid injection in my back. Instead I opted to try something out of my comfort zone and I am so glad I did. I've never had acupuncture done before so in coming here, I was a bit apprehensive and nervous. But he definitely made me feel safe and that he knew his practice very well. I made an appointment for a 15 minute consultation with Dale over the internet late in the evening (around 7pm) because I get off work late. I called the day of to make sure that the time was okay, Dale answered and confirmed the appointment. He also reassured me that the consultation was free! Next day, I ended up being able to come around 6:30 instead and he greeted me. The consultation was extremely helpful and I could tell he actually cared about my well being rather than making money. I asked him if I needed acupuncture (for acne) and he was honest and said it probably wouldn't work. He instead gave me a holistic and cheap/efficient way of dealing with my problematic skin. He gave me some herbs and instructions on what to do as well as other methods and medicines I could try. Went to have acupuncture for my chronic back pain and a pinched nerve in my shoulder. The staff was great and very professional, they walked me through the whole appt and explained everything. This was my first time at an acupuncturist and they really set my mind at ease. I didn't like that they were pushing their chinese remedies at the end of my appt but other than that it was nice. I can honestly say that I don't think the acupuncture has helped at all as my pain has not subsided or gone away. I'm not saying acupuncture doesn't work, it just didn't work for me. read more

My husband went for his first treatment today with Dale and was very impressed with him. He is very knowledgeable and patient and really listens to you. My husband has had severe neck/back pain for many years due to nerve damage from disk problems. He thought surgery would be the answer, but after 2 surgeries he had no relief. He's tried steroid injections with no relief, so acupuncture was his last chance to getting some pain relief. After his first treatment, he feels so much better. I am a nurse who works long shifts and I deal with chronic knee pain (I need a knee replacement) and I have been seeing Dale for a few months now. I'll admit I was a skeptic at first, but I decided to give it a try. Dale is very knowledgeable and has been able to help me deal with this chronic pain. He was also able to put me at ease on my first visit. I knew acupuncture was helping me, but until I got sick and missed 3 weeks, I didn't realize just how much it was helping me, because I was in so much pain I was in tears by the time I got well enough to go back and see him. Without a doubt, if it wasn't for Dale's knowledge and help I wouldn't be able to walk or do my job (which I love). I know I will still have to have the surgery, but acupuncture is definitely buying me some more time and keeping me from having to take pain medicines that I don't want to take. Unfortunately, I can't agree with all the good reviews about Dale. I've been getting acupuncture for over 20 years to treat various conditions I have. Since moving to Austin 3 months ago, I've yet to find a practitioner who will actually listen to what I want or don't want in my treatment. I thought Dale was listening to me - especially when I specifically stated that I didn't want the needles in for more than a certain amount of time. He not only ignored my specific need/requirement, but didn't tell me that he was doing so. I had a feeling that the time on the table was much longer than it should have been and specifically had to ask twice how long I had needles in me before he admitted that it was much longer than the amount I said was my limit - and then he gave the 'chi has to have 30 minutes to work' excuse. That's not accurate - I checked with my practitioner from my previous city. Even if it was - I specifically stated that i did NOT want those needles in longer than I had asked. The result? A major headache that night, along with muscle pain. I can't recommend someone who not only ignores a patient's request, but then lies about it. That totally breaks the trust factor that is needed between a practitioner and patient. read more

Amy has such a sweet spirit. The practice is also super affordable which is really important when you have a chronic issue and have to go frequently. I love that there's not all these hidden addendum prices (don't laugh because I totally saw it at "unnamed practice"). I also love that that they have online scheduling. It's just so convenient when you don't have time to call in during business hours, just want to check on availability, or simply just hate talking on the phone. The Saturday availability is gold for the full time worker. Amy can treat all types of stuff, but she loves helping people with fertility problems. I wasn't seeing her for that, but I thought her passion for it was kind of cool because I know people with fertility problems can face such despair and difficult mainstream treatments. There's really not much out there in Pflugerville either so the clinic is a gem. I'd highly recommend coming in to see Amy! She took good care of me while I was in the area. :) :) :) Now that I've moved, I'm realizing just what I'm missing trying to find a new acupuncturist. :( read more
