Our country could use more immigrants like him. So I can't understand the negative reviews. I guess one or two people have had bad experiences in this store, but they aren't typical and they don't reflect the philosophy and culture of the owner. I also read the store is closing. If so, I hope that means Mr.Lee has made enough to retire comfortably. He deserves it.

I initially thought it was a golf…read moreequipment store but after calling I found out it's a place where you can play on their two large golf simulators with friends while having beer and wine. Sounds like a good deal to me. We checked it out that night and I was really impressed. Golf simulators are state-of-the-art and the venue is really clean and well kept. He was very honest, accommodating and never felt like he was pushing you to buy any specific clubs or coaxing you into certain models. He isn't a car salesman and didn't act like one - his passion for the game is reflected in his work and complete focus when analyzing a player. Have recommended John to multiple friends for fittings and all had the same great experience. Won't get fitted for any other clubs going forward other than by John.

From my initial conversation with owner John Ioris, I was immediately impressed right from the getgo that he in fact eschewed wanting to be associated with the so called "GD top golf fitters list".... After I scheduled my appt, my session with John was performed with the same level of precision of a top NYC hospital for spinal surgery. Everything was analyzed, as mentioned in the articles, measurements taken with ultra-high-speed digital cameras show ball speed, spin rate, launch angle, carry distance, total distance, and directional deviation. Furthermore, John having mastered his trade, knew what to recommend for my game, obviously after seeing thousands of swings, this comes naturally but in no way was he condescending or a "know it all".. On the contrary, he was just humble in his opinion which was refreshing... Oh, and not only that, i was also treated to a free video assessment from the local pro who shares the office which i signed up with recently and am very happy with. As Malcolm Gladwell states in Outliers, a person reaches mastery of their craft usually after 10,000 hours of practice. Now that statement and view has come under some controversy because in order to achieve that level of mastery, there must be in that practice, passion, drive, enthusiasm, commitment to improve and a devout love for the sport, music, fame, whatever endeavour. Well, John Ioris is a master of his craft and after 28 years of dedication and countless swings he doesn't need to prove it.. I will write back at the end of this season with what improvements I have made provided i have even one/hundreth the commitment to improving my game as he has to his trade.

Well Steve is your guy! He had me start by hitting my own clubs just to see my swing and the statistics, then he started handing me clubs he thought would be good for me, and after all of that he told me which ones I hit the best and why he felt they were good for me. He lets YOU make the choices, but guides you towards what is comfortable and correct for you. AND he even gave me some really helpful tips during the session. Lets just say I went from hitting my 7 iron 145 yards to 185 yards with the new clubs and a few good tips! Cant say enough about it.

Definitely not a WELCOME at all. Don't join unless you're a super player. The website insisted that all levels were welcome. Not true. Instead, I paid the wonderful pro, Harold Toussaint, to play with me every week, and by the end of the season--which incidentally ends on election day instead of (as the web site states) the first snow--I was ready to return to California and play comfortable tennis with my old senior friends.

First breakfast and they served it at the bar - not thinking this is typical during the warmer weather as ambient temps hovered around brisk 49*. Bacon, egg and cheese on a roll with salt & pep, a Coors light and a shot of Jack. Breakfast and lunch service by the young barkeep was outstanding. His company of chit chat and recommended Yonkers golf tracks was most welcome. Glancing around the glade, the course is well woven into the mountain side at a sneaky 6400 yards of sloping fairways as you descend. On the practice range an older local gentleman approached me and delivered a summary that I quickly took down in yellow Sharpie and I'm glad he did. Managing your game, hitting shorter accurate shots is the only way to survive out here. When the holes slopes left to right, ya gotta draw it into it and fade the opposite way for us righties as balls settle deeply in the bog where the turkeys roam. The greens looked to have been airated (punched) a week ago, so they were mostly healed up, but putts did bounce a bit -- keeping an honest line and were quick from the back. After battling light hail on 18 tee - a par 3 and the cold front that was it's predecessor from 15, the golf day was done, totally dispensing my prior opinion of mountain golf. Back in the clubhouse quaffing steins of Yonkers Ale and making merry again, one eye on the sports tele, one ear on the sizzle of my burger a mere ten feet away and a hand on the Jack that keeps apoearing before me by the fellow to my left. Each little cook temp preference I gave was written down line by line resulting in the EXACT meal I was envisioning -- so double credit to my attentive barkeep and to the chef with the kind face and happy smile that delivered a doosie of a burger and fries.

I learned about golf, the swing, having manners/being polite to fellow golfers (i.e. be quiet when someone is hitting, allow people to play through if you're playing slow, making friendships, etc....) and sportsmanship. He put the love of the game and confidence in me (along with loving the 69 Mets and fishing off the Jetty at the base of the Throgs Neck Bridge) to achieve anything. I felt like I was 7 yrs old again this morning during my lesson with Rick. Rick's passion for the game, his teaching knowledge and techniques, along with his ability to positively "listen" and communicate back to me; why you do, what you need to do , to correct and understand your swing. Ricks true passion and understanding of the golf swing, along with his initiative, communication skills (including his listening skills) and ability to have you understand the game and your swing is legendary. Rick is patient and professional and has an insight into working on improving your golf game by recognizing your weaknesses and working on them.
