The worst shopping experience I've ever had. The shoe staff was incredibly rude. They avoided eye contact and looked the other way when I walked up for help (this one young man in particular was truly awful). There were 7 employees standing around with 2 shoppers looking for shoes. The one employee who finally attended to us after the rudest eye contact and body language took forever to help us. All the employees were rude, dismissive and I can say confidently I will never go shoe shopping or do ANY shopping at DICKS white plains again. So rude and frankly, useless. read more

The Dick's store we have in Poughkeepsie NY no longer sells ANYTHING that's hunting or sports shooting. They have REMOVED ALL FiREARMS, SCOPES, AMMUNITION, All ARCHERY EQUIPMENT and All HUNTING APPAREL. No hunting jackets,gloves, pants etc. Why doesn't Dick's CEO eliminate all baseball bats they're dangerous in the wrong hands. Same with golf clubs and let's not forget hockey sticks. These are are just as deadly as a gun. Theses deadly weapons are even better than guns. They don't make LOUD NOISES like a gun does the quiet killers. I will no longer shop at Dick's. I think that it would be great if Dick's has to go out of business. read more

We purchased a NordicTrack from Dick's that didn't work properly initially. After much drama, the warranty company sent a technician. The machine worked (gingerly) for 10 months and now it's dead. Dick's doesn't stand by their equipment; the LT warranty won't help because the machine is still under manufacturers warranty; and the manufacturer doesn't answer the phone, chat or its customer service tab. The mechanical difficulties may not be Dick's fault, but they don't stand behind their products and don't help when you need service. Best idea: Don't buy or sell anything from NordicTrack. NT is more interested in selling subscriptions to their IFIT service than making reliable machines. read more

This review is for the bike assembly guy mainly. We brought our brand new bike to him to be put together. When we got it back, my husband got on it and took one spin on the pedal and the chain fell off, the mechanism snapped and bent in half to an unrepairable state. This happened in-front of the repair guy. He then proceeded to argue with us that he "is not an idiot" and it wasn't his fault. How does a bike that is brand new and just put together break like this? It means he didn't even test it before completing it. On top of that, his dismissive attitude was insane. He took Zero accountability for it. Ultimately the store accepted the return as a defective bike, but the reality is, it wasn't put together correctly and wasn't tested beforehand. This store sucks, I called to see if they had any recumbent bikes. Someone in the exercise equipment department picked up and said yes we do. So I asked are they on display to which his reply was yes. I drove to the store the next day and much to my dismay there were no recumbent bikes. I was offered no apology just an excuse that the guy who answered the phone didn't know that they didn't have those bikes. What a bunch of fools. read more

Great store. Fresh and clean and not a lot of customers clogging up the aisles. Zero wait on the check out line. Picked up some ammo for a trip to the range this weekend and I was happy to see that they had pretty good pricing on bulk lots. On the downside they didn't have a ton of brands, just Remington and Winchester which are not my favorites, but it'll do. Parking was $3 for 30 minutes which was a bit steep, but there plenty of spaces. Good, pleasant experience all around. read more

So I'm standing in line with about $60 worth of goods (tennis balls and shirts for my 11 year old) when a bottle of Frappacino I had taken from the cooler near the check out fell and broke. When paying for the items Courtney tells the salesperson ringing me up to charge me for the bottle. Considering I have spent hundreds of dollars in this store I was taken aback. I asked to speak to the manager who it turns out is Courtney herself. She stands firm that I am responsible to pay for the accidental dropping of the bottle. I debated calling the corporate office to complain (I mean jeez I dropped my coffee walking out of Starbucks a few months ago and they simply gave me another coffee) but got some measure of satisfaction speaking to the evening manager, Randy, who seemed sincere and completely agreed with me and apologized. Hence two stars instead of one! read more

I called this store and to my surprise it took 35 minutes for them to pick up, I asked them if they had any cleats they said they'd look. next thing I know they hung up. I called again and they said we're busy right now can you call in 45 minutes buddy, Even though I'm a grown man. Then I go to the store and the first thing I see are cleats then I file a complaint and there response was it was a glitch in the system. Honestly I can't believe this place gets more negative reviews. Dick's seems to be the exception to most big box sporting goods store. Though staffed less than most sporting goods retailers, it's never hard to find any help in any department. The employees also seem to be very knowledgable about the subject matter of their department as well as the processes of the store (an important difference). So far every time I've gone they always knew where everything was and when they didn't have it in stock offered to look at where else they might have it. The hunting department people especially seem to have their head on straight, and I was surprised at their in depth knowledge of the subject. They do seem to not stock as much as the other Dick's locations like the Long Island stores. If I had to pick something to gripe about it would have to be the parking, but they certainly have no control over that. There's a whole foods below them with a $5 purchase parking validation so it's not a big deal and makes this Dicks a great stop when doing groceries. read more

Decently sized location next to the mall, which is great ... but I can't get used to having to pay for parking! With that said, don't forget to validate your parking ticket! It's not free, but it's discounted, and I guess that's better than nothing? They have a fair selection of sports gear -- they're getting a whole star added because I found a pair of Nike golf shorts on their clearance rack for $23, marked down from $75! I can never find Nike golf clothes on sale in my size, so I would consider this a successful shopping adventure. read more

This location only...... The parking is too much to go back to this location. I'm done! I brought my daughter there today to use a gift card. They didn't have her size or style batting glove. Looked around for something else but came empty. Because we didn't buy anything, we couldn't get our parking ticket validated. Plus the new "pay before you leave" pay station outside of Dick's was out of order. So I had to drive down one level to Whole Foods and fight to park, prepay there! $3 for 1/2 hour at Dicks with no merchandise. Got to the register and was ready to pay and they told me the one pair of shorts that I found was "recalled" and we could not buy it. My toddler was, understandably, disappointed. Dicks sporting goods doesn't even deserve 1 star. I was fortunate enough to receive a golf set for my birthday, the unfortunate part is the driver broke my first time out on the course. I spoke to the manager, Joe, who told me to come back with the GIFT RECEIPT and they will be able to exchange it for me. When I went to Dick's the cashier, Keena, scanned my GIFT RECEIPT and refunded back the money on the credit card it was purchased on. Unfortunately that is not my credit card, hence why I got a gift receipt from the giftor. Keena and Joe both said that this is what they normally do when they have a gift receipt. I called later on, and I spoke to a guy name Randy, who basically said that everything I went through was BS and that shouldn't have been refunded to the credit card. From Under Armour, Nike, Adidas Reebok, Puma, Russel, Rawlings etc if you want it they have it but just a warning the prices are a bit high but well worth it because you can try on your favorite sweats . if you order online you may get a cheaper price but the items may not fit making your purchase worthless. read more

Came here with my mother on Dec. 18th at 3:30pm to buy my father's Christmas present. We went to the Golf section because my father wanted a shirt from there. There was a sweater my mother was looking at but they didn't have the size. So she went to ask the guy working in the section. She was asking if they had others sizes and before she could finish talking he just said "No, what is out there is it". I find myself frequenting this store almost every weekend. They have a huge selection of merchandise and while it can be overwhelming, I find that if I go to the store knowing exactly what I want and need, I can get in and out of there fast and without distraction. I recently bought one of those evil ab wheel things (so challenging and fun!) And it's my go-to place for Sports Bras. They have a great selection of running shoes and if you know what you want and what works for your feet and stride, it's easy to go in there and quickly pick out a pair of shoes. I like that I'm not bothered by staff while I shop, but on the other hand, staff is sort of MIA for the most part and I don't know that any of them are necessarily schooled in all-things fitness and sports. If I wanted or needed special attention I would definitely opt for Westchester Road Runner in White Plains. Their staff is super-knowledgeable re: running etc. I'm also a Dick's Sporting Good Rewards Member and often receive $10 rewards in the mail (basically an excuse to spend more money on workout gear.) So, we are all entitled to change our minds, right? In that case, I now really like this store. read more

Went to buy a firearm from this location several months ago. I was unable to purchase because the address that I had just moved to did not match my Driver's license. I just went into a Dick's today at another location(Rockland County) to find out that I have been put on a blacklist and can not purchase any firearms from any Dick's locations. The jerk at the gun counter decided that I was unfit to purchase a firearm and suspected of a straw purchase. What a joke! The ATF seems to disagree, so I will be supporting my LGS from now on rather than Dick's. Furthermore, Dick's has it's own registration system. Every gun you buy at Dick's is recorded down to the model and stored in their database for who know's how long. They fail to disclose this information to you when you purchase a gun there. This is shady business practice and does nothing but cause headaches. Sadly, they have good prices, but if you value your privacy you should buy from a private seller or your local gun store. read more

When I what to check out to ask he said there. Is no one there to help I said no. Then he said you will find out at check out. We left at that point. I what to see prices so I can see if we what it. I am a new to fishing with zero experience. I returned my Walmart fishing rods after reading about 30 minutes on line. I went to Dick's in White Plains. I noticed many forums recommending the Shimano Sierra FD (Front Drag) reel. I noticed on display both Sierra FD and Sierra RD (rear drag) reels but they were both labeled "Sierra 2500 RD". I asked an employee and he just said that he didn't know anything about fishing and asked this other person to come help. This person, Geoff, asked me what I wanted. I told him that I am looking for the Shimano Sierra 2500FD reel. He didn't even look at the aisle. He just said, "Whatever we have out is all we have". I told him that the display seems to be mislabeled. He then said if it's not hanging, there isn't any. I asked him if he could find out what other Dick's stores have them in stock. He brought up the RD model. I corrected him that I wanted the FD model. He was on his little PDA for what seemed like an eternity then told me, "We don't carry that". I asked him if "We" was white plains or Dicks. He said Dicks because he can't find it on the system at all. Using my phone, I found it online in under 10 seconds. He then said, "look, that is an online only thing". I then pointed to the display model and said, "then why do you have them in the store?" He just said that it is not in the system. I told him that I have the SKU number from the website. He simply said, "look, it's not in the system so even if I search using item number it won't show up because Dick's don't carry it". I said, "I find that hard to believe as you actually have the FD model on display but not a single spot in the product aisle marked FD. Plus, how can you say that it is not in the entire Dick's system when I have it located on their website and it says White Plains has them in stock?" I walked away to the next aisle, grabbing two rods for total of $300. Geoff then came up to me and then said, "how many you want? Because I can give you the display model for discount". I wanted to ask him, "how can you sell me the display model if you just told me that the model is NOT in the computer system at all???" But then I was disgusted by this salesperson's lack of inventory knowledge, product knowledge (initially didn't know the difference between the RD and FD), and his unwillingness to look up the item (I offered the item number and he refused). I understand that Geoff does not own the White Plains location, but at this point I was so upset that I put down the two rods that I was going to purchase and walked out of the store. With Sports Authority, Modell's, REI, and another Dicks in Yonkers, the White Plains location really needs to get their act together and actually train their employees. I am sure that I will never go back to this place again as it was a colossal waste of $3 for parking. read more

I will never shop online at Dicks again. They shipped me someone else's order and now can't fill my order correctly as every item I ordered isnow out of stock. Items were in stock when I ordered them two weeks ago, got a confirmation they had shipped and then received a box today with my name on it but none of the items I ordered. Customer service wants me to ship back the incorrect items, when they provided no return shipping label, and is so sorry they can't fill any of my items. Dicks as a company is greedy and uncaring, and fails to satisfy its customer orders. My husband and I spend hundreds each year on our sons' sporting equipment but not one more dollar will be spent at Dicks. read more

Going to the jets vs patriots game on Sunday. I live in Stamford and drove to the Models in Port Chester after work to look for a jersey. They didn't have one so I called this store to see if the did before driving to white plains. When I asked, they assured me they had jerseys, they also said there wasn't a HUGE selection but they had at least a half a rack before I drove over here in traffic. Turns out they had ONE Revis jersey in an XXL which I could have worn as a dress if I wanted to wear a jersey for a player that wasn't even on the team. Very pissed off. read more

Shame on me! This is not the first time the employees at Dicks Sporting Goods store caused me to waste my time, spend money and get unnecessarily upset. I called the store last night to make sure they had a specific turf cleat for my daughter (model, size and color). Not only was I told they just got them in but they had her size, "come on down we are open until 9:30". Well, once again when I arrived at the store there was nobody that knew what we were talking about. After demanding to speak to a manager, who is on vacation, I was assisted by Marc Anthony, the "manager". Mr. Anthony was more concerned about the name of the person who told me to come down to the store rather than addressing the false misleading information I was given tricking me to come down. He attempted to say he was sorry but was merely trying in earnest to get me to purchase another shoe. Obviously, this is part of Dicks strategy, and unfortunately this is the second time I got sucked in. The first time they got me to the same store, that time they had the shoe my son wanted however, when we got to the register they were unable to sell it to us because it was mistakenly put on the floor a week before its "release". No, sorry to make you come down and pay for parking, just well we can sell you this "other" shoe. Deceptive practices are no way to run a company, poor customer service is no way to run a business. Shame on Dicks for their pathetic, deceptive practices. And in the event this is Corporate strategy than Shame on them for their incompetence. Never again! I understand that the CEO is the founders father, I'm sure this is not the business model that enabled Dicks to become the business it is today. this store is awful. no sales help at all. the fishing and hunting dept is in totally disarray. the guy who worked in the fishing dept looked like he was either going through withdrawal or about to overdose. plus that department which also has the guns had ammunition strewn all over the place. want to buy something? there's never more than 2 cashiers no matter how many people are on line. looks like dicks is quickly going the way of sports authority, bass pro, gander mountain and modells. wont catch me back in this place. read more

I recently returned from a vacation, with my 5 day old Adidas hiking shoes ordered online from Dick's. One shoe's strap broke while I was there. I rigged the shoe to work as I needed them everyday. Returned the online pair to Dick's. Nobody said "sorry for the inconvenience". The clerk proceeded to credit my account, and arrange for a new pair through their online portal. Received yesterday...one Merrill and one Adidas in different colors. Quality control doesn't exist. And for that matter the hiking department in store is a mess! No wonder...this must translate to their warehouse. Further more not sure Dick's really cares about the customer. Unfortunately there is no other large sporting goods store. I'll look for other options for sure. read more
