I often wait an hour for prescriptions elsewhere but it took them 6 minutes to have my scripts ready. Why I ever waited 24 hours for a prescription that was served to me without anyone knowing my name is probably because I went to big store pharmacies. Right off the bat, I was impressed by the underground parking lot. Ive been to a few HELLISH parking lots at grocery stores but this one is big and roomy with wide aisles and clear signage. And parking is free for two hours. NICE! Taking the elevator up to the Safeway, and already I'm thinking, wow, the elevator is sparkling. Floor, walls, I've never seen such a sparkling elevator. Then the doors opened and wow, I'm facing the most beautiful flowers and plants I've seen in any local grocery store. And the whole store is cavernous, and immaculate, with super wide aisles, and clearly distinctive departments for produce, deli, fish, seafood, dairy, etc. The displays were all gorgeous, and the shelves, well stocked. Did I mention how immaculate the whole store is? I did not see one abandoned cart, not one paper on the floor, not one item on the wrong shelf. Not ONE. (I even used the washrooms and it was like this was a newly opened store that day, the bathroom looked like it had never been used before, not ever. Super clean and well-stocked). I wanted to inquire about getting a brisket in a few weeks, so I ventured up to the meat counter. I spoke at length with a guy named Noah who couldn't have been more helpful. He wrote down all the info I needed (the contact numbers and names of the meat department managers, when I should call, what I should ask for, etc. He provided all the info I could possibly need. I was blown away by this customer service!). I'm attaching a few photos I took of the store, but I really should have taken more. There were so many beautiful features in this store. THere's a large, well-stocked pharmacy. There's a lovely Starbucks with a roomy sit-down area. There's a decent bulk food area. There's some features I've never seen before: hothouse-grown organic greens and herbs, age dried fresh beef in specialty coolers, amazing ready-made meal area, sandwich "bar"..... The list goes on. Prices are higher than my usual No Frills but the selection of fresh fish and meats and produce is WAY vaster, and the displays, WAY nicer. That said, this Safeway did have decent items on sale, and some items were comparable to my No Frills. The only area where my No Frills far surpassed this Safeway was in the "ethnic" and kosher food department. This Safeway had minimal to no ethnic foods. Not even Passover foods (Passover is just two weeks away); they had a few boxes of matzo but these weren't even kosher for Passover. I was really surprised at this lack of kosher and other "ethnic" foods, and this is the only reason I am giving the store 4 stars and not 5. (Note: the overall mediocre rating for this store is clearly due to the fact that Yelp included the reviews/ratings for this place before it was remodeled and renovated. I gather it used to be....not so nice).

One of the things that I noticed is the lower dispensing fees Shaughnessy Pharmacy offers. They only charges $8.99 compared to other drugstores that charges upwards of $13-14 dollars. However, due to a Canadian postal strike, the pharmacy switched to a cheaper shipping method without informing me, but still charged me the full $40 CAD. When the package arrived in Brazil, the shipping company hired by the pharmacy, in addition to the customs fees, which I am required to pay, charged me an extra $42.75 CAD, which I did not agree to pay, as it was never previously agreed with me. I refused the package, and it was returned to Canada. Now, the manager Kade and her assistant Kelaiah seem to beare, in an indirect way, making it difficult for the returned package to be received, possibly in retaliation for my not paying the additional fee demanded by the carrier they hired, thus preventing the refund. But it's been a day with nothing. I'm worried that these mistakes will lead to someone (or me) getting the wrong medicine. Which could be dangerous or even lethal.
