I've found that they have the best balance between "stand up" training and "on the ground" work, done in a safe, controlled environment, with great instructors who really work with the kids to create a positive environment. The training includes an emphasis on respect, not only for the instructors at the academy, but for parents, school teachers and their peers, helping them to become "bully proof" without becoming bullies themselves. Additionally, parents can train for free, in classes set up for them. My wife participates in the stand up and grappling classes. You'd be hard pressed to find a place with a better set of instructors (the new McKinney instructor is a BJJ master from Brazil).

Last time I checked my money was the same as anyone else, if your studio only wants to accept men/professionals, etc then make that clear on the website or class description instead of wasting everyone's time. I was trash talked by the coach leading the sessions and hit hard several times after I already said "I am no longer interested in sparring with you" At no time did I physically exert myself beyond a point of control during my time here yet the coach leading the class decides to call me out before I even warmed up, (told him I was warming up because I came to my FIRST session about 30 mins late.). As you can see I barely set foot into the gym floor before he approached me. I told him I was there to spar a friend and he got very offended, called me out to spar before I even had a chance to get my helmet on. After I hit him with some quick light jabs after which he lost all control. Mind you this man is approximately 40 lbs larger than me. Below are public links displaying his behavior. This place is good for that but is great for the young guys that are truly making a go at a career in the sport. The young thirsty guys add to energy and vibe of this place. Instructors are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and above all supportive. Makes me smile thinking about the instructors walking around during sparring with direction and positive energy and feedback. This place has been open for a while and has been producing champions and professional grade martial artists.
