Ms. Shiva is kind and helpful. My 6 years old daughter said it's more fun in coach James' classes. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE! New ownership is shady, doesn't care about doing what's right, and competition has disappeared! Discriminatory actions taking place...STAY AWAY After 2 years of a family atmosphere rockstar was sold to new "owners" while great coach Austin and Maddie were out on maternity leave trying to enjoy their first child. How do you demote/release someone while they are trying to have a child? Gave new coaches a chance, watched attendance dwindle, competition leave, and knew it was time to move on. As you can see by other reviews, new owners are bullying (which they coach against?) people due to "agreements" signed. We signed those with coach Austin, not the new ownership group. Gave them an opportunity via multiple emails to do the right thing, but they refused and still attempted to charge me after I made my intentions clear. I have the corporate office involved before I go to the BBB etc. we'll see if Rockstar founders care to do the right thing or try to squeeze unearned money.. New Ownership caused us to leave. I wouldn't recommend. Don't fall for the smiley sales pitch to sign up and then get locked into a 6 month contract. You'll regret it. The coaching is subpar and Coach James is actually the founder/owner so that says a lot from what's expected top down. Owners just want to get paid. Feels like you are an obligation to teach even though you are paying for them to teach you. I didn't feel that way when Coach Josh was teaching. I enrolled my 4-year-old child in a Rock star martial arts North Prosper location with high hopes for their physical and mental development. However, my experience with the coaching provided was deeply disappointing and concerning. Firstly, the coaching methods employed were unprofessional and lacked sensitivity towards the young age group. Instead of fostering a supportive and encouraging environment, the instructors resorted to harsh and punitive techniques that seemed more like torture than constructive discipline. Furthermore, the mental well-being of the children was clearly disregarded, as the coaching approach often left them feeling scared and anxious rather than empowered and confident. It's disheartening to see such a lack of consideration for the emotional needs of young learners. Overall, my child's experience with this martial arts course was far from positive. I strongly urge the coaching staff to reevaluate their methods and prioritize the well-being and development of the children in their care. As a parent, I expect professionalism and compassion from any educational or extracurricular program, especially when it involves young children. As a parent, witnessing the mental and emotional effects of discouragement and moving and downgrading on my 4-year-old child has been deeply concerning. The experience has shed light on the profound impact such practices can have on young children's well-being. Firstly, the emotional toll of being discouraged and moved out from a class cannot be understated. It's disheartening to see my child's enthusiasm dampened and their self-confidence shaken as a result of feeling inadequate or unwanted in their learning environment. The sense of rejection and confusion that accompanies such experiences is heartbreaking to witness. Moreover, the long-term implications on their mental health are worrisome. shuffled from one class to another not only disrupts their sense of stability and routine but also erodes their trust in the learning process. The fear of failure and rejection that develops as a result can hinder their ability to explore new activities and engage with their peers positively. Furthermore, the lack of support and understanding from educators exacerbates the situation. Instead of nurturing resilience and self-esteem, the practice of discouragement cycle of insecurity and self-doubt in young children. In conclusion, the mental effects of being discouraged and moved out from a class on 4-year-old children are profound and far-reaching. As parents and educators, it's our responsibility to create environments that foster a sense of belonging. Please be professional if you guys want to teach young children or take some educational lessons, only knowing martial art or having a black belt is meant nothing like a having college diploma with no working experience , and once and all if put making money in first place and teaching young soul and kids in number 15ths place is the goal?! Somalia is great with kids as he has 2 young sons himself. He has so many years of experiences whether you want to train just for self defense or you want to compete professionally. I tried getting quotes on the monthly fees for two kiddos without any success. The manager emailed and refused to provide a quote unless I bring them in for a free class. As a customer, I prefer to obtain quotes to consider before finding time out of my busy schedule to see if it's a possibility. I don't think my request is uncommon. Very poor customer service. read more

I'm going to start off with how much I loved it here, the martial arts was fun, I learned so much valuable information in 2 months. I've met people who have taught me great things, the coach here has been great to me and helped me in a tough time! Could not love it enough. They really treated me like I was family. I'm 17, and my job doesn't pay the best because I'm busy with school and hours are short, they have been forgiving for me paying late because they understand I'm paying alone. As much as I loved it here, I have some major complaints. A common issue is that they wouldn't tell me the price at first which I'm guessing is a marketing tactic to sell me it, the price was pretty heavy on my wallet and it feels like I'm paying way more than I should. Another big complaint was cancelling my membership, I asked about cancelling it and I gave them a month's notice. That's what the coach who sold me this said, give me a month's notice, pretty clearly stated. But NOPE, she actually meant TWO MONTHS apparently, which she never said. I complained about that and tried to be respectful about it, but when I texted them that I'm in no way paying for that, the coach called me disrespectful, and stated it was in the policy, well if it was in the policy you should have told me that! Then he says the coach that told me to give a months notice was trying to be kind, which doesn't make sense, this all really sounds like a huge trick to me, why would that be kind in any way? Also a 60 day notice is so stupid, there's no reason for any membership to be cancelled for that long, obviously trying to make extra money off of me. For my conclusion, amazing people, amazing Dojo, amazing service, but I have suspicion they are trying to manipulate me, especially when they know I'm a kid. Cancelling my membership sucked, and they pretty much banned me saying I shouldn't come in, I'm left with some ju Jitsu skills, confidence, and life advice from my amazing coaches, but sadly they left me with trust issues, coach if you're reading this, i really adored you and thought you were cool, I still do, and I wish the best, it's sad that you think I'm trying to disrespect you when I'm just trying to stand up for myself, even if you are my coach. Forget zero starts, deserves a negative 5! It saddens me to see coaches try to build a child up by tearing down another one. My 5 year old had her mental state and desires crushed at a birthday party by the coach, who was obviously picked on as a child and today he got his chance to spared the love to my child. After a year in a half of lock downs, mask, isolation, loosing family members she was nervous around the other children in this TINY quiznos "dojo". After finding the courage to join the other children, and try to participate, she was singled out by name, in a very loud voice that "She Can not cry at the on the mat, it will ruin it for the birthday girl" She had stopped crying, and was adjusting when this happened. She was singled out, forced to remove herself from the mat, and if that wasn't hard enough, the coach SHAMED her again, by complimenting another girl of similar age for her "Bravery" because she was crying before too. This would have been ok, if he had not basically yelled it through the building, ensuring that the one he had already singled out was then kicked when she was already down. This coach is a coward, a bully and doesn't respect children. He is there to make sure that everyone knows he is a coach, and has some semalance in power. It will be the only power he ever has; tearing down one child to try to build up another. I'm sure there will be some response talking about "Were sorry you didn't enjoy your visit" or "We would love to hear more". But here is the bottom. Today, that coach singled out a little girl who was trying to be brave. She was not running anything, she was adjusting. To the coach: YOU don't give one rats butt about this review. Your ego is probably all you need to tell yourself its ok. "Look at all my successes" you may say. Bottom line is, their not your successes. Any good coach would have been able to do the same thing. You're Pathetic, and should be fired for treating to children like that. Go home and pick on your own 5 year old.... But I'm sure you have already done that. read more

I emailed Rockstar in Prosper in order to get a quote on how much classes are for a 3 year old per month. I received a message to come in for an appointment. I asked again for a price as I do not have time (nor do any parents) to come in to meet with people just to get a simple price and many of these places are extremely expensive. The person stated they are not the least expensive but that I should come in to try a trial class and speak to someone about what fits my child's needs. I asked one more time for a flat price, informing them that I did not have time to come in for a trial class and I am searching for the place that best meets my financial needs and that if I could not get that price, I would have to look elsewhere. Their response "No problem, thanks for your interest." What kind of customer service is this. Not only does this facility sound rude and disrespectful but WHY would I send my child here when those are the qualities she is supposed to be learning in Martial Arts. So disappointing. I will be letting everyone in the community know to stay far away from this place. They obviously don't care to attract business anyways. read more

My four year old has been attending Rockstar for almost a year. Coach Josh has an endless amount of patience. My son couldn't sit still or pay attention to save his life before starting classes and it was a huge struggle in the beginning but Coach never lost his patience or gave up on him. We have now seen incredible improvement in all aspects of his behavior since attending classes. He never wants to disappoint Coach Josh and repeats the lessons he teaches them about listening to his parents and teachers. My son loves "ninja turtle class" and has gotten stronger and more disciplined in our time here. We're moving to Celina and will drive the extra twenty minutes to this gym location instead of the one that will be closer to us because we respect and trust the staff here so much. read more

I can't recommend RockStar enough! Although this location is new, you can tell cleanness is high priority. The staff is amazing, great with the kids. The skills taught are priceless: life skills on and off the mat, coordination, and self defense. My son loves coming and is always showing me what he learned. read more

These trainers make you feel like family. They are naturals with kids and help with bullying situations that we all dealt with at that age. The staff truly cares about the class and from deep down inside has a true life passion to help others. The martial arts become secondary. The life skills and becoming a family become priority. They welcome all, even those of us with injuries, overweight, etc. etc. Such knowledge and such passion for teaching. read more
