If you're a kid from the 90's, you're probably plenty familiar with the WWF or the World Wrestling Federation. That storyline-driven, out of this world entertainment spectacle that no matter how scripted just pulls you in with excitement. It's where you first heard of The Rock, Stonecold Steve Austin, Triple H... and finishing moves like the "Tombstone Powerdriver." Hahah! What if I told you that we have that whole thing now in our Philippine shores? *sniggers* YES. All the crazy costumes, masks, war paint, characters, signature moves, suited up ring announcers, underground arena matches... Yup, all that and more at the Philippine Wrestling Revolution!
PWR is an independent pro-wrestling entertainment group that has been regularly holding matches at the Makati Cinema Square. It's wild, crazy, ridiculous fun, and already has plenty of fans and followers (their Facebook group has over 5000 likes already!). It's your Nacho Libre fantasies come to life! What makes it so much funner/funnier is how it's unapologetically localized WWF (or WWE, now) with wrestler characters and storylines that are fully Pinoy. You have plastic Orocan bins all alongside the token steel chairs. You have a "Jake de Leon," masquerading as the everyman but with a tagline that says "minimum wage, maximum rage" and then just blows up in the ring! You have "Mayhem" who comes out looking every bit like a Pinoy action movie kontrabida, complete with long hair, denim vest, printed bandana, and a masked posse dressed in all black! Haha!
Total theatrics, high energies, fearless characters, roaring crowds, and real wrestling stunts. On the whole, stupidly crazy good sports entertainment! You have to catch a show for the experience! read more
