The class was just okay, I felt like we stretched for 10-15 minute, which I felt was extensive. The instructor was nice but I felt she could have done better with less individual focus and better memorization of the moves. For every move she wanted everyone to one by one reenact the move, which took up a lot of time. It felt like she was singling out each person. She also forgot the routine moves a few times. I felt like it was a class for senior citizen or kindergarten. It was still fun to do as a group, which is why I gave them 3 stars.

I've been going to this pole studio for about four months now and let me just say this studio is a gem! My pole style is low flow, stripper sexy flow, floorwork tricks, flexy, liquid motion"-y with a little bit of booty-poppin' r&b and hip hop and this is the gym for me! This pole gym is not cirque/burlesque. The icing on the cake is that the owner (Lydia) is not only so talented, but she also genuinely cares about her students. But after I got up the courage to go to my first Thursday night party, I realized that it was actually a very welcoming, family-like environment--lots of laughter. The more experienced students have always been willing to help new students, whether it is showing them a dance step, or cheering them on in their first performance. The level of instruction is top notch. The growth I have seen in my dancing abilities over the past year is far beyond what I could have imagined. My private lessons with my instructor allow me to really focus on areas where I need to improve and learn new things. The group lessons are a great opportunity to learn from a different instructor and gain a new perspective on steps I have already learned, as well as great practice dancing with other students. On top of all of this, the studio regularly brings in some of the top ballroom dancing coaches, giving us the opportunity to gain knowledge from an additional expert opinion. Ballroom dancing is by no means an inexpensive hobby, so if you are going to spend the money on it, you might as well do so with the best teachers in the industry.

Now I'm a total ballet addict, and it's all thanks to Beverly, the studio's owner and ballet teacher. Beverly does a wonderful job welcoming newcomers to the studio and making ballet accessible to those who haven't done it in years or have never tried it before. At the same time she manages to challenge her regulars. Classes are drop-in but she spends each month or two working on developing specific skills through drills and short choreography sequences. Every class is a little different. I constantly feel challenged, and I feel like my dancing is always improving. In addition to the regular ballet classes there is also BalletEXTREME, a high-intensity ballet fitness class, and small group pre-pointe lessons. Some women in the pointe class used to do pointe when they were younger and are returning to it years later. Many, like me, had never done it before (and probably thought they would never get the chance, like I did). If you ever wanted to try pointe I highly recommend these classes. Ballet isn't the only option at Major Moment. There are many great classes offered at the studio including Zumba, hip hop, and tap (all of which are offered through Philly Dance Fitness, reviewed separately). But ballet is my favorite!

I took a ballet class offered through PDF with Beverly (Beverly is the owner of Major Moment) this past Monday, and WOW! I had taken a few classes at Koresh to try to get myself back into the ballet game, but it was way too intense for me, a lowly "use to be a ballet dancer in high school". This class offered by Beverly was great - she went through the basics including the positions, tendus, degages, ronde de jambes, etc, with some barre work, then we moved to the center for the last half hour of class. I can't stress enough how amazing this class was - it seemed that most people around the room who were doing pretty well, and I know there were some beginners in the class. Beverly has a great personality, with absolutely no attitude - she is simply interested in furthering people's interest in dance while having fun! An added bonus - even though the class seemed slightly easy at the time, I woke up the next day feeling absolutely sore! It was an awesome feeling :) I can't wait to take another class with Beverly!

What Rachel has created goes way beyond just dance classes. Whether you're completely new to dance or a dancer in retirement, you will find a community that's there for you and whatever journey you're looking to go on. The convenient location on Walnut makes it very easy to work into my schedule, and the classes themselves are fairly intimate. There's classes and camps for kiddos, heels classes, tap, hot girl jazz, music theatre, and more. His dance is characterized with fluidity, great musical artistry, lyrical footwork, and impeccable skills. His teaching is precise, to the point, and efficient. In group classes he not only shows you how the steps work but also work with you individually. But honestly, it's not an issue - the space is so welcoming and comfortable. I love that they offer a free week of classes - such a great way to get a feel for the studio without any pressure. I went to one class and absolutely loved it. The instructor was fantastic, really motivating and attentive. It felt like she was focused on making sure everyone was getting the most out of their practice, which is something I really appreciated. Another great perk: they have props available to borrow! It's always a nice touch when a studio makes sure you have everything you need to enhance your practice. I only wish I could have gone to more classes!

Had very poor experience with the classes and owner…read more The instructor tried to incorporate waaay too many things in her class that it took away from the yoga experience I was seeking. There was little to no attention to the individuals, she just stood at the front of the room the entire time doing the poses with us which made it feel somewhat impersonal. The space was also too small for the amount of people that showed up, so it felt a bit claustrophobic. Following my free trial, I also sent out MULTIPLE emails to her regarding the membership fee I was charged. I was not please with the service due to the above reasons so I did not wish to be charged for something I will not be returning to, but she never responded to my emails. (She had been very responsive to my previous emails prior to enrolling in the free trial). It just left me feeling like she was trying to get money regardless of my experience with the studio.
