I ordered take out (we'd 14 Dec 2025) pho ga and rice with fried beef and fried chicken. I never expected the steamed rice was so bad, seems it's left over since days. The fried beef and chicken are okay, but have no flavour of Vietnamese food. I would rate this dish 2 out of 5 stars. But the pho ga was horrible. it has nothing to do with pho: no flavour whatsoever, it was a mediocre soup, with broccoli, carrot, Napa. And it has two scant pieces of chicken breast. Oh my god. Now I realize that the store has nobody speaking Vietnamese, they are ike ,Philippines. It's a travesty of pho. I would recommend : if you want Vietnamese food, AVOID this place. read more

Yum! I'm always on the search for a good pho spot to fulfill by beefy noodle cravings. We passed by this place on a drive and decided to try it out. I placed an order online, and it was great because you can get 15% off. I ordered a x large all dressed beef pho, with tendon, flank, rare beef, tripe, and meatballs. My dining partner got and x large with rare beef and meatballs only. They were the same price, 12.50, which is very very reasonable. We ordered for pickup at 7pm and it was ready on time. I also requested extra garnishes, which were kindly provided. The extra hoisin and sriracha was nice too. The takeout packaging was well done, i appreciated having the large bowl provided so I didn't have to get my own bowls out. The noodles were good, not too soft. And there was a decent amount of beef. I could have used more tendon though. I am taking some stars off though because the bean sprouts did not seem that fresh and the lime wedges were too dry. The pho didn't have enough cilantro, green onion, and onion in my opinion, and the garnishes did not include extra cilantro, and thai basil, sadly. The broth was okay but a bit too oily and lacking some spice, I found. Overall it was by no means a bad meal but I think next time i will seek out my regular places, or try something else new. Plenty of noodles and the sauce was flavourful. The spring rolls were good too. I don't usually eat a lot of fried food but it was well made. I didn't touch much of the salad but it was alright. I would just prefer the noodles, chicken and sauce. :) read more

Our local friend suggested it and it was a perfect day for pho, as it's winter in Montréal. We sat in the front where we could watch traffic go by, btw the parking is in the back if you go or street parking. Staff was nice and gave us some product suggestions, like their fried ice cream for dessert or fried wontons for an appetizer, but we stuck to the staples. The spring rolls were really good, the cold rolls were fresh, but the sad chicken would have been sliced better, their peanut sauce was decent, but could have used some crushed but garnish or texture. Pho's arrived and the broth was nice, just a nice balanced clear broth with meats for the pho specials. For the price we paid, it was good bang for the dollar, would have lived some braised oxtail In it though, alas they didn't offer it. My friend always got the special spicy beef soup with braised beef, and it tasted like a tom yum paste with some curry/satay paste combined. Overall solid and quick pho, if you don't want to break the bank. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food at Pho 88. We started with the chicken imperial rolls which I found to have little grease and a crisp exterior. I had the rare beef pho which was very comforting and hit the spot for my soup craving. My beau had the grilled chicken and beef plate and declared it to be the best Vietnamese grilled beef he's ever had! He is pickier than me so I was surprised, but relieved he enjoyed it so much. We both fell in love with the fried ice cream dessert - which you can get for free if you post a photo on Instagram and tag them. We enjoyed our dinner immensely so I know we will be back in future. read more

I'm usually really easy to please when it comes to food, but I left this restaurant unsatisfied. There are a lot of good reviews about this restaurant when it comes to other dishes, but my friends and I had the grilled chicken vermicelli plate and we did not find the food exceptionally good. The chicken was a bit suspect and the vegetables that accompanied the meal were more like an unseasoned salad. I did really enjoy the spring roll though. Overall, the place was lacking in atmosphere and the food wasn't better than what I can get in the West Island (Pho Thanh), so the trek downtown was not worth it. read more

Sure, the decor is nothing to write home about and sometimes the service is slow and seems disorganized but they make up for all that with the really good grub. Plus, slow service gives you the opportunity to sit and talk with the people you are dining with. But.... The food more than makes up for the less than stellar service. It may not be the 'best' Phó in Montréal but it sure is up there among the better ones. The portion is generous and the broth is very tasty. Spring rolls and chicken rolls are all made fresh and are very good. I know they are fresh and housemade because of my preference for eating late, I get there after the rush and one of the kitchen staff sets up a table and will make rolls, starters, and other goodies before your eyes. Just no. I can forgive a lot of shortcomings if the food is good, but the food wasn't good. Spring rolls were not flavourless - they tasted like stale water. The peanut sauce somehow also tasted of stale water. The wonton soup - you guessed it - stale water. The wontons themselves - stale water. The only flavour in my meal was the sriracha sauce I had to put on everything. My family and I always enjoy coming here. Have to admit its not the best pho but its in a good convenient area. Every time we go, the staff are really nice and courteous. I really personally enjoy the rice meals and the starters such as the springrolls and fries dumplings. This is a very casual and quick restaurant that serves very good pho. I had the vegetable peanut butter "raviolis" AKA dumplings to start, which were great. Gooey and saucy - just how I like it. As for the pho, I ordered the chicken one which came quickly and was the perfect temperature. It was extremely filling. Add some hot sauce to make it even better. The waitress was a bit awkward and didn't speak much english, but all our food came out right. I recommend Pho 88 for a good quick and simple pho dinner! read more

The Pho is really not good :( Probably the worst I ever had. It was tasteless and had ingredients such as broccoli, lettuce and carrots... it's the fist time I've seen that and it's not good. Ok, it's never going to be famous for it's stellar customer service, but.....it's a cute little local place where you can bring your own beer or wine, have a good bowl of pho or noodle soup or satay, it's perfectly noisy and busy (as most places like this are), good for groups and your wallet won't hurt when you leave. Meh, I've experienced better, at this very same restaurant. Went a couple years ago and it was decent. However, I returned today and was super disappointed. I ordered the pho tái (rare beef) and was served over-cooked cardboard-like meat.Kind of the opposite of what I was going for, you know? The broth was tasteless and lukewarm, bearing an unappetizing resemblances to dirty water, a far cry from the steamy and flavorful broth one expects, and craves, in pho. It was just a sad, sad soup and now I'm pretty sad myself. I was really craving some good pho. Anyways, if you're craving pho that badly, do yourself a favor and head over to Nguyen Phi on cote-des-Neiges. I'll probably have to go myself next week to heal from today's letdown. read more

As a very big Pho fan and enthusiast, i do not agree with people saying the soup is "tasteless". Its good but its not the best. For a quick Pho fix near my home its perfect. I reside in Hampstead and its near. I don't always want to drive all the way to chinatown. The chicken and rice is great but i find the rice portion is quite small. This is such a good Vietnamese restaurant. Service is kinda awkward because some of the servers are more fluent in Vietnamese than others, but overall it's good. They have a good, cheap selection of appetizers, rice dishes and of course, soups. As well as the traditional pho, they have stuff like tom yum, beef ball soup.. Good stuff! The portions are of a good size and the dishes always delicious. If you order a soup you get a little plate with bean sprouts, thai basil - which they grow themselves on the deck (in the summer at least) - and lime, and there are a plethora of condiments already on the table, including sriracha, chili paste, fish sauce.. and a bunch of other stuff I haven't even tried! A main dish is usually under $10, so if you get an appetizer with it and include the tips, a meal for one usually comes up to $15 - pretty good if you ask me. The owner of the place is also very friendly and cheery, so it's a nice little atmosphere they have going. I highly recommend this restaurant if you like soups. I however have not tried the rice or noodle-based dishes, but I assume they are just as good :) read more

The restaurant is located near highway with good access to parking around (weekdays it is busier and you may find it difficult to find empty parking spot). The restaurant doesn't have many staff and they might be difficult to call when you want to order or ask for something while you are there. Our appetizer arrived 30 seconds before the main dish and both of them were very late! There are few vegetarian options for the appetizer and the main dish. A dish ordered by a friend was fridge cold. there are a number of combos coming with soup. Taken together I didn't really enjoy my experience there. The food was okay and tasty but no effort was made to make the dish looking better. You also cannot use credit card and they only accept debit or cash. read more

It was not very good. Not terrible though. The pho and the tom yum both lacked hugely in flavour. Very very bland. The beef in the pho was awful, tasted like processed meat. The spring roll and imperial roll were average. The peanut sauce was so strange, it tasted watered down. The service was fantastic, however and the staff all really friendly. A nice variety of items with very little seasoning and a staff that is rather unfriendly. Its a rather inexpensive place, so you can expect a no-frills attitude. The pho had good quality beef, but had a very mellow broth. The grilled chicken with steamed rice was extremely bland, but the side sauce made it bearable along with the fresh veggies. Waitresses are grannies who do not look like they wanna be there. A/C was on blasting too and it was freezing rain outside. When I got to the cash to pay, the lady was taking forever to open a bottle of wine and I asked if I could pay after 3 minutes of having to watch her battle with the wine cork and she told me "I'm busy".
