I met my cousin for dinner and we spent time before and after exploring the shelf's. Loved the layout and intimate vibe. Everything seems well organized and it all made sense to me and sections were clearly labeled. I enjoyed the bookstore so much I couldn't leave without grabbing at least one book.

I am SO in. We stopped in bc my husband's last name is Kramer and it's spelled the exact same and I saw the brunch/breakfast options and wanted to eat here. We loved it. Tried the avocado toast, brioche French toast and a smash burger and everything was delicious. Service was good, food was out quickly, portions were huge, all A+++. Enjoyed shopping after and will 100% come back. They are very active on Instagram and usually have seasonal specials and neat events.

While I was here, I checked out a couple of cycling books called book 'Cyclepedia' and 'For Sweeter than Honey'. I also noticed the book entitled 'Reagan' which is a biography about the previous president. I stayed for about fifteen minutes and it was cool. I think they should turn this place into a cafe with books which I've seen in Mexico City.

Every single experience I have had they welcome me at the door and encourage me that if I have any questions at all to feel free to ask. Any time I have had questions they have been more than helpful in informing my purchase. Some of the items could be placed to a closer price point to online retailers, but for the cost of convenience a lot of their selection is worth it. It's been a staple of the community for years and has improved greatly over the last decade in my own opinion. They did move stuff to their new location in DC the last time I had checked but I can't fault them for wanted to expand, I will just have to take a trip over there eventually!

There's also a great selection of books (fiction, non-fiction & academic mostly) and school/office supplies located on the 2nd Floor; including an African-American section with interesting knowledge and intellectual readings on the diaspora, culture, and history of African Americans. We both love to read and love bookshops. I love big bookshops, little bookshops, romance bookshops... Lost City Books was a wonderful surprise and immediately became one of my favorite bookshops in DC. Why? It isn't huge, but it makes such good use of its space that I found it to be one of the best stocked independent bookstores I've visited in a long while. I always try to support local independent bookstores when I can, and some of them are tiny (if your neighborhood bookstore is one of the tiny ones, remember they'll probably place orders for you if you want/need something they don't have in stock). But - at the risk of sounding silly - we got lost in time at Lost City Books. We meant to just pop in and quickly pick something to take home. But we wandered through their fiction section and staff picks, pointing out books to each other we loved or have been meaning to read and all of a sudden a half hour had passed and we only really explored one tiny section of the shop. We walked out with four books between us, too. The customer service was friendly to boot. Just a great independent bookshop and another reason to love Adams Morgan.

Like brand new first editions, they were spotless. Service was excellent. The gentleman at the counter was so helpful and friendly. And I do appreciate that they have a fairly nice kids section. But their selection of books runs sparse and they have barely any other products. It's like they dabble in collectible card games without having anything substantial. PRODUCT: Really very little. Despite a huge sign proclaiming they sell Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokemon, they did not have anything substantial to offer and from the look of their old product, they don't carry much at all. In terms of comics, it's not much at all. They have far more graphic novels. I'm not sure if this place wants to be a book store more than a comic book store. SERVICE: Okay. Nothing spectacular. Didn't feel like I was valued or helped much. The stairway leading up to it was filthy. COST: Average. Not inflated but not inexpensive either. No real bargains.
