I was happy with my professional headshot session from beginning to end. I completed their online form and received an email response promptly. They asked about my availability and recommended a gray background unless I had something else in mind. I scheduled my appointment for a morning session at their studio, which has its own small parking lot. My session was 40 minutes, including time afterward to select the pose I wanted. I appreciated the dressing room to fix my makeup and hair before the session. They had some hairspray, tissues, and hand lotion in the room. My photographer, Trevor, was friendly and professional and made me feel comfortable in front of the camera. He gave me great directions and helped me select the best pose. During COVID, he and other staff had masks on. The total cost was $150. I will receive a high-resolution image for printing and a low-resolution image for screens/internet by email. I can't wait! I've never had a professional headshot taken and I wish I'd done it sooner. I would not hesitate to consider this studio if you want a professional experience and product. read more

We just found out that our Corgi has lymphoma. Before he passes, we wanted to get some nice family photos to remember him by. We paid a family friend to take photos and I am truly sad that I actually paid for those. So I asked around for a professional photographer with a studio, as our youngest pup isn't fully vaccinated, and that was good with pets. Based off recommendations from friends, I emailed four photographers in the area and Tourine from Johnstone Studios was one of the first to respond in a timely manner. Due to the time constant, we didn't do the complimentary consultation, but just made an appointment for the photos on a Sunday afternoon of that week. She did ask what breeds of dogs they were, to make sure she'd have the correct background color ready. We showed up 15 minutes early and she met us at the door. Tourine was warm and welcoming to both us and the pups. Johnstone Studios is beautifully set up, both welcoming and professionally decorated.We went upstairs to a studio with hard wood floors and she went to work. She was extremely kind to the pups and knew how to keep their attention. Tourine had a great energy and the dogs fed off of that. I could tell that Tourine has experience with working with dogs, as she waved treats, talked to them, jumped around and used a train whistle to see what they responded to best. Our Crogi is a ham and loves to take pictures, but our new golden doodle has no concept of what's going on, so getting him to look in the right direction was taxing. After she was done, she checked with us to see if we had time to view the photos in their viewing room, or if we needed to go home for the dogs. They were both doing well, so we stayed to view our photos. Not only did she get a few beautiful pictures of our ailing Corgi, but pictures of the dogs together and one of the four of us. Everyone was looking, beautifully positioned and I will treasure these photos for years to come! Down stairs in their viewing room, we went through the photos on a big screen tv. We picked a package that gave us three of the photos we choose retouched and the digital rights for a very competitive price. My husband also ordered an Urban picture collage of our three pictures. Tourine was extremely low pressure when it came to selling additional add ons and even offered to leave the room so we could talk our choices over. Our digital prints came over retouched in three days and the photo collage we ordered should be here within a month or so. I am so happy with our family photos! Tourine did a great job and Johnstone Studios will be our new place for yearly family photos! read more

Wow, wow, wow!!!! Trevor captured really great photos today!!!! I'm a perfectionist and totally self-critical. I thought I would leave without having any photos I wanted to use. To my surprise there were several that turned out really good! He walked me through different poses in such a graceful way. I wouldn't have known what to do otherwise. He captured so many different looks perfectly. I woke up with big bags under my eyes and they didn't show up in the photos. Whew. Actually, I told him he didn't have to edit any of the photos because they turned out great! I take photos of people and rarely is that the case. Trevor's wife Tourine is a pleasure to deal with as well. She scheduled the sessions and passed all the info I needed to know. I brought a different colored shirt and the photos of me wearing black were the ones I ended up keeping. One, because they look classy. We did the baby program, but I don't know if it is available anymore. We paid one price for four different sittings (one newborn, one at four months, one at eight months, and one at one year). This was the best program because we have beautiful pictures of our son at every important stage during the first year. It is amazing how much he has changed and we have pictures to show these changes. Tourine is very good with little kids. Even if you have a child that won't sit still, she seems to get great pictures. I don't know how she does it. Everyone at this studio is very friendly. My husband and I absolutely love Johnstone Studios! They have been capturing our little man's first year in photos and they have gotten absolutely amazing shots! We have both been blown away by the patience and care that Tourine has when dealing with your little one! The images that she has been able to capture are unreal. Literally, every detail and change as my child grows up is caught in the pictures. They may be more expensive than some photographers but they are worth EVERY penny!! We used Johnstone Studios to shoot our wedding in Squaw Valley. I am so happy with them and with how our pictures turned out. Tourine and Trevor are extremely friendly and professional. They took the time to look at all of the shots I wanted from a pinterest board I had made and to make sure those were taken. My husband and I are definitely awkward photo posers, but Tourine and Trevor made us feel comfortable and managed to make us look good. They also blended in really well during the ceremony and reception, so that they were not at all distracting during our events. I can't say enough good things Johnstone Studios and the pictures they took for me. I wanted to do a boudoir photo shoot for my honey for our anniversary, and spent hours combing the internet for a studio that offered the kind of photographs that I was looking for. It's so easy these kinds of photographs to veer into the cheesy and/or trashy arena, but the photographs Tourine took are classic and beautiful. She made me look stunning! A huge part of that is due to Tourine's ability to make you feel completely comfortable throughout the shoot. She showed me pics on her camera in between set-ups, which allowed me to see how good her lighting and composition made me look, and thus boosted confidence. I was also thrilled with the picture selection/ordering process. You sit in a lovely room and watch a slide-show of the photos she's chosen for you. I had a hard time narrowing it down to only 20 pictures for the book I chose to have made, which was very professionally done. They were even able to rush the order for me a bit to accommodate my anniversary date. My guy absolutely loves the photographs....and so do I! I may even come back to get a canvas printed for my dressing room. Bottom line, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this studio to anyone who is considering doing a boudoir photo shoot. read more

I 'found' Johnstone Studios via a Groupon offer & at first thought "well, I've gotten a good deal via Groupon but who knows how good these guys will be". Photoshoot is done & yesterday I had a viewing of my photos & I cannot emphasize HOW incredibly pleased I am with the photos! I cannot stop thinking about them & how beautiful they are-- I'm on pins & needles waiting to get the prints back that we ordered. I, personally, love photography & spend a lot of time taking pictures. I had initially wondered if I should/should not have a professional session done since I take a lot of photos myself, but Tourine's work made me SO happy I did!! She captured the perfect moment, perfect smiles-- & even if, for example, my two year-old son wasn't totally cooperating with her efforts the final images don't give any hint of this. Local mag was doing a small expose on our family, including our dogs, who are clearly family members. Photographer and her associate were very congenial and professional. Great experience, but, we didn't really give it much thought until we saw the results. All we could say was "Wow"! Reviewing the images at their downtown studio was a very pleasant, very professional experience. We were so impressed that we ordered some holiday cards, for next year and some pic copies for family. This was not something we intended to do and were not "sold"; we are very resistant to that and make car dealers cry when shopping for a new vehicle. :) I would recommend this studio to anyone looking for professional work of a business or personal nature.
