I'm by no means even close to being a good photographer, but I thought it'd be good fun just to explore a part of London I so love. After seeing the winning entries from previous competitions, we began worry we wouldn't be creative enough to come up with even one good photo, but we needn't have. That had nothing to do with my team's artistic talents, just that the clues and the locations and, heck, London itself are all so inspiring that every team had at least one outstanding photo... and there were over 50 teams participating! All in all, I had a blast, and I'd definitely love to take part in another of their events again. And here's the point I'll admit that one of the reasons I had so much fun was because my team took one of the winning photos, so we'd love to come back to see if we can do it again! Shoot Experience runs treasure hunts taking place all over London. The next one is Shoot Portobello taking place in March 2010. I think previous areas covered include Hackney and South Bank, and a couple of online ones too.

The idea that we would only pay for the photos seemed too good to be true; I didn't know what to expect. But when put in contact with Ben he was so helpful to work with through email, to determine where we'd meet, what kind of photos & background shots we'd like, what time of day worked best, etc. We were visiting London for our 10 year anniversary and I wanted to make it a really special memory. Ben was the best photographer I've ever worked with. Better than our wedding photographer. He posed us when needed, helped us to be natural for other shots (which can be challenging when being photographed while passersby are watching). He'd have us ready in a pose and have us hold until the perfect moment when there was no one behind us AND a red double decker bus was going by...which really made for some beautiful pops of color and showed off that we were in London. I requested an hour bc I wanted to save money and only commit to a purchase of 15 photos. Ben stayed with us for OVER 2 hours, even though he knew I would potentially only purchase the lowest number of pictures. This photo shoot is essentially free so his time with us depended on the # of photos purchased and he still spent so much time with us. When we got the photos I was blown away. I ended up buying them all. I'm already designing a photo book. We feel so lucky to have found this company, and that Ben was our photographer. These beautiful photos will hang in our home forever. I could not recommend EVERphotoshoot higher...you don't even need to be celebrating a special event. We took the photos with the idea of only maybe having 15/30 that we would like a pick up but of the over 170 photos she sent we fell in love with the vast majority of them. I'm lucky that this place is just up the road from my office so any passport or visa photos are easily done. Just tell the photographer what you are applying for - you'll get a quote for the number of photos you'll get and the price. Not only does this place cater to the ppl who don't care to get into the details of photo measurements, the qualities of the photos are really good - compare to the ones you'll get at places like snappy snap. There is proper studio lighting equipment and the best is that the photographer takes a number of photos and lets you chose which one you like the most before it gets printed. There are too many times where you take photos like this and may go... ick. Now, don't ask for 20 retakes but it is okay to ask to retake just a couple more if you'd like. The place could get busy during lunch time so I'd recommend going maybe a little bit before or after.

The owner has an almost eerie, encyclopedic knowledge of visa photo requirements - "India visa? That would be 5 cm by 5 cm, not including white boarder, you'll want to remove your glasses, no smiling..." They're located down the first flight of steps into Charing Cross station. Service was really fast - the whole thing took less than 10 minutes. They have a small studio set up with proper lighting, backdrops and a high-end Nikon digital camera. They do 'professional / business photographs' so if you're looking to upgrade your picture on linkedin to something a bit more professional - since really that old picture of you slightly drunk at a cousin's wedding isn't really sending quite the right message to clients / employers - I'm sure these guys would do a great job. Hands down the best part of this place is that they share a space with a candy store - huge selection of sweets including many hard-to-find American candies. I happily ate an entire box of Mike & Ikes while my pictures were printing. Brilliant.
