I've always loved going to Physicians and Midwives. I have been seen at the office in Woodbridge but Ive been to the one in Alexandria as well and it was pleasant there too. The offices are always clean as well. I love that there's a lot of providers to choose from, there's many to choose from to your liking in case one provider didn't work out you could try someone else. They have different office locations too so that is also convenient. I love seeing Rebecca Tuteral,she is very pleasant to see and very easy to talk to,she is also very professional in her demeanor. Do not go to this place. I lost my 7‑month baby because they refused to give me a control ultrasound after I told them I wasn't feeling as many kicks as usual. Dr Kenneth dismissed my concerns and told me to just go home. Three days later, my baby died. worst place in the world !!! The Dr I see is kind, caring, and knowledgeable...Unfortunately, the staff that handles insurance referrals is inadequate at best. I have had four medical referrals and only one has gone through without an issue. I have had to call and double-check that requests had been created, been met with confusion because the person answering the phone didn't understand processes, and had bills from specialists because - even though I was assured the referral process was complete - the referral never went through to insurance. This was NOT a fault of the insurance company. It is unfortunate that poorly trained staff cause good providers to lose patients. read more

I struggle with rating OBGYNs because 1. It was Covid and I think all health care professionals are burnt out and 2. OB care is so wildly different from general Gyno care. That said, I have been with this practice since 2019. It started very nice, but as the years have gone on I just feel like everyone there is worn out and doesn't give their patience their full attention. I never felt unsafe here for exams and general care, but I didn't enjoy my delivery experience (again, maybe not them, that's a pretty subjective experience). And every appointment (except one telemedicine which was awesome) I feel like the people conducting my care is fed up with me. Or life, idk. I made an appointment weeks ago for 4:20pm on a Friday. I filled out all of the paperwork to check in ahead of time. The day of the appointment I got a text that my appointment had been moved to 4:40pm. I called to confirm the appointment time change. I was supposed to get reimbursed from co pays I over paid. I spent my entire maternity leave calling to get that money and still haven't received it . I just gave up . Im moving soon so I'll be looking for a new Gyno so I'm just gonna wait until my new Gyno to be seen for any services . Looking back I wish I went to a Gyno where I would consistently work with the same doctors . I don't think I ever been assist by the same person more than once even during my pregnancy . I don't recommend this practice to black women because they ignore your requests or concerns. I am prone to blood clots and was concerned about my health before, during and after giving birth. When I asked for an ultrasound they told me that I wouldn't need one after giving me medication for infection. The lack of commitment to their black patients are a high concern, for the mere fact that I had to go to the emergency room today and was treated just for what I was concerned about a week ago. They could have killed me. The only thing they care about is your delivery, not you after giving birth and your health there after. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR BLAKC WOMEN! A friend recommended the practice when I was in college and since then I have trusted them with my reproductive health, to care for me through two pregnancies and deliver my two beautiful babies. As a gyno, this place was great. I went back for an OB when I found out I was pregnant, although unfortunately it didn't work out. The outcome has no impact on my rating, obviously. I did go elsewhere for a second opinion and am basing my review on the comparison of the two experiences. Here is what I liked from here: - most people I came across were very nice and courteous - it was easy to make an appointment - they are very thorough in their explanations Where they can improve: - the ultrasound was extremely uncomfortable and painful. I was sore for days afterwards. I did not have this experience at the second place. - the wait time was nerve-wracking, especially once the tech started tipping me off that things were not right. We waited a very long time in between the ultrasound and when they broke the news to us. - once they did let us know it probably wasn't going to work out, they offered us a retest (according to them we barely made the cutoff), and told us the options for the process to complete. However, they said if we choose the natural route, just wait it out at home unless there's an emergency. In contrast, the second place I went to prescribed me pain management medicine and said there would be a follow up appointment to make sure everything had finished completely. I want to give a nod to S.W.'s comment below and say that historically across the board in the medical field, this is well-documented when it comes to Black women and the dismissal of our pain and concerns. Now in my case specifically, I'm not sure if it's their company policy not to prescribe any medication for pain, but I will say that I did appreciate the second place making me feel more like we are in this together and they would make this uncomfortable situation as comfortable for me as possible. Again, as a gynecologist P&M gets five stars, and for that part, I highly recommend them. I want to note that the gyno visit a few years back was a routine check up and all was well. As an OB, in an alternate scenario where everything was fine, I would probably still be with them; however, that final experience is one I don't want to repeat for many reasons, some outside of their control and some where they can definitely improve. One final thing I will add, regardless of cutoff or not, if you get bad news I would always advise getting a second opinion if you can, even if you have to go elsewhere to get it. read more

I have to highly recommend the nurse that was manning the check in station. I had insurance problems and she helped me through the process. Meanwhile, the other nurse who was doing the billing couldn't care less. No greeting or smile. I had my yearly appointment with Dr. Cutting, the usual exam and screenings. It was my first time visiting the office and I only had a small window of time to use my insurance. I've already read all the reviews online, so I was prepared for the impersonal treatment. She came into the room, no real greeting, sat down and told me to lie back. Literally the appointment took less than 15 mins. I can see why people left her the reviews that they did. If this is your first time, I wouldn't recommend Dr. Cutting. Maybe someone else on staff. You can book the appointments online with whichever doctor you want, so it's super simple to use. You can also fill out all the forms online prior to arriving so it'll speed up the waiting process. read more

I would suggest to not come here. Doctor Mary Cutting walked in the room and built zero rapport with me. She did not introduce herself, did not ask me for my name or DOB. At first she did not focus on my main concern and only humiliated me about my weight by making it the topic after I expressed my known ongoing issues with weight. She kept repeating to me that I have gained weight Since my last visit. I had explained to her that when I came in last I was extremely depressed and had postpartum and I wasn't eating and I knew my weight would be different because I'm no longer experiencing PPD. I felt bullied into knowing how much weight I gained, I then broke down and she did not address then my emotional state. Then continued the exam while I was crying but never addressed my emotions. The exam was harsh and she was very unapologetic of her harsh demeanor. She also assumed I could not afford services. Kept repeating to me that I should wait to get my health insurance to get my birth control. My Heath insurance is more expensive a month then the birth control would be. Honestly this was a terrible experience. I went home very distressed. read more

I had a great experience at P&M from the nurse that connected with me in my native language Spanish and made me feel at home. I had very pleasant experience with Dr. Anne Kisthardt. She was very informative and detailed oriented with my OB/GYN yearly exam. She walked me through every step of my check up. Found something irregular and wanted to check it further for my protection. She make me feel very comfortable during my visit. I found Dr. K due to her numerous great reviews found on yelp at Woodbridge Va searching for reviews by location. Don't come here! When you have a miscarriage! They will violate HIPPA and tell everyone on the staff and then humiliate you in-person that your baby died! Then schedule you for an emergency D&C! It was a rip-me-off.com surgery cost! Don't do a D&C with them!!!! They listed my husbands last name incorrectly for my blood work and my insurance rejected it a $410 mistake! When you have infection, they will not tell you, only send your elected pharmacy your medications! Very unprofessional! The radiologist here is very rude and grumpy. Hindsight is 20/20. If only I knew then what I know now about this practice: Major Issues: * I was routinely scheduled for visits with midwives who don't deliver babies. Nobody told me this until a few weeks before my birth, and this meant that I had no prior face time with any of the delivering midwives. FYI-- Gina and Pam don't deliver, so don't waste your time being seen by them if it's a routine prenatal appointment. * No one bothered to call me to let me know I was iron-deficient, which resulted in a month of extreme exhaustion until I arrived for my next appointment only to be chastised by a midwife. When I asked why no one phoned me when the labs came back, the midwife shifted blame and said that she would have told me in person if I had not moved my next appointment back (which I only had to do because their openings were so limited and I had a work conflict). * After my water broke and I arrived at the hospital, my midwife pushed every intervention imaginable, despite my wanting a natural birth. She rolled her eyes when I asked to delay pitocin to see if contractions would begin on their own. In fact, I barely saw her until I hit 10 cm. She also thought it was appropriate to note that it was her "243rd" or some odd baby she's delivered while I'm laying there pushing. And despite asking to push at my own pace, she insisted on coached pushing. As soon as she sewed me up she was out of there, no "congratulations" or anything. If I have another kid, I'm going to find a smaller practice to deliver at. This one is way too large for their own good, and their care lacked a personal touch read more

This practice is very impersonal. I wanted the midwifery experience. Everyone that came in just read my chart and said hi i'm so and so and started working on me. when ever you need to get a hold of someone, like the operator, you wait on hold for 30+ minutes. Not joking. If you live in Prince William County it's not worth it since for the birth you have to deliver in Alexandria. While a nice hospital still one heck of a drive if you are in labor. I ended up switching practices, while I still have the same long drive to the hospital, my new practice is very personable. I can actually hold a conversation with the midwives there and it's a much more personable experience. When I asked for records to be forwarded to the new practice, it took 7 contacts from my new practice and 4 contacts from me to finally get them to send my complete records. read more

I scheduled an appointment for an annual exam with Melissa Torres, CNM and my experience with her put all of my fears and anxiety to rest. She is the most kind, caring, and attentive person I've ever met. She made sure that I felt comfortable and at ease, and also ordered extra testing to finally get to the bottom of an on going issue I've had for almost my entire life, that other doctors never did. She is absolutely amazing and I hope that I can continue seeing her because she's amazing. If you are like me and have anxiety about doctors visits (womens exams), COME HERE!! I've given birth to all three of my children with P&M and have been 100% grateful for their service and attention each time. My first was a loooong labor, but they were patient with me and made every effort so that I could deliver her vaginally. Recently I gave birth to twins via C-section and while it was not my ideal situation, it was best for the babies and for me and the entire staff of the practice made sure I knew why and that I was ok with it. I went in for an annual PAP test today and was shocked. THEY STILL USE REUSABLE METAL VAGINAL SPECULUMS, even after the FDA established clear guidelines to use plastic speculums to prevent cross-contamination among ob/gyn Patients. Is it really too much to ask in order to prevent contamination danger??? Are they that cheap trying to save money by disinfecting reusable metal speculums and avoiding a single-use plastic type of speculums??? I have a small baby and I am now afraid to breastfeed her because of the potential risk that they put me into today. It's simply awful. I had an appointment with Dr. Cutting, and it was my last time visiting her and this practice in general. There was no explanation of what was happening, very impersonal approach. "Disappointing visit" does not come even close to describing what my visit today felt like. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

Do not go here! The doctors are very unprofessional. I chose physicians and midwives purely because of location. I went here for my first ever visit to a gyno and I mad with very clear this was my first visit so I was nervous and the staff is extremely cold and rude. They rushed everything pressuring me to finish paperwork very quickly and because it was my first time I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. The appointment was a talk consult and I was pressured to get a physical exam on the spot before even finishing the paperwork when that's just not what I scheduled nor was I told to expect when I got there. Dr. Kisthardt told me I should exercise more and my symptoms should be gone. The front desk overcharged me and I was so anxious to get out of there that I just payed it so I could leave because I was being so rushed and was talked to so impersonal. They sent me a check for the overcharge a couple weeks later. That was not the worst though. Once my symptoms didn't go away I called to make online dr appointment because of covid so I had a video chat with Dr. Mary Cutting and I would say she is the worst dr have I have ever spoken with. She talked down to me the entire call as if I was a child and was rude the whole time if you are looking for compassion do not see her. I tried to ignore the fact she seemed cranky and belittling the entire video call and I explained my symptoms and she immediately gave me two antibiotic perscriptions to take at the same time and without telling me what any of my options were she basically just said you don't get to choose how you want to heal your just going to take this even though I made it clear I am very sensitive to perscriptions and perfer them as a last resort. So I figured well I'll give the perscription a try since I have no other option and I had an adverse reaction to the antibiotics that made me have a non-stop 72 hours straight long migraine that caused me so much pain that I slept about 40-50 hours of that 72 hour(3 day long) period of time and it also caused me to not be able to keep any food down for 24 hours and I also got an ear ache. My mom said she had never seen me look so sick before in her life even as a kid. So that all happened within the first 3 days of taking the antibiotics so I knew then it wasn't safe for me to finish the last two days(5 day antibiotic regimen). Once my migraine and everything else finally went away and I could eat again I noticed my symptoms didn't go away at all but got worse. So after those two experiences I seeked out an obgyn who specialized in making sure clients are comfortable and treated fairly. On my first visit to the new ob I told her the antibiotics the were perscribed to me and she said well no wonder you had such bad effects it's to treat a type of infection I did not have. Turns out I had a super common yeast infection and the antibiotics just made it worse since they can often cause a yeast infection in the first place and I could simply get the monistat cure at any grocery store or pharmacy. I would've saved a lot of time,,money, and literal physical pain if I never made an appointment here. read more
