We were seen on time for the initial consultation. We found the doctor to be extremely kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. He visited my aunt three times while in the hospital following the procedure to be sure she was ok to be discharged. We highly recommend Dr Agarwal and are grateful for his compassion and expertise.

When the doctor entered the room, he was clearly and verbally expressive of his distate for the scheduling mixup. He continued to refuse to answer any questions about the outcome of the surgergy or any type of insight into the possible results of the surgery. He vehemently reacted to my use of the word "should" instead of "may" and then claimed that the doctor patient relationship had been compromised by my "high expectations." He would not give me any success rate or any info pertaining to the outcome. I had only minimal expectations and was very happy to have the surgery until he became rude, condescending, and unprofessional. He refused to do the surgery after I had spent over 6 weeks working toward this surgeical procedure. I asked him if he could put his emotional and judgemental feelings aside and professionally focus on the operation. I figured he may not have the best bedside or office manner but felt he was com petent enough to perform the surgery he offered me. He said he could not adjust and perform professionally and asked me to leave his office. I was shattered, still in pain, and now have to begin all over to get the proper attention and relief. I was not alone in the office and have a witness to this Doctor Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde behavior.

I was referred to Dr. Sonthineni in Oct. 2012 for multiple neurological symptoms, I thought…read morepossibly MS. This doctor was on the referral list that my primary uses, so I had no reason to question her credentials. However, after 4 months of confusing communication of test results, ordering of sleep-related tests that were unrelated to my complaints, outright wrong statements about the source of some of my symptoms, poor handling of my reaction to a prescribed medication and generally feeling that I was not getting anywhere being treated by this doctor, I looked her up in healthgrades.com. I was shocked and disturbed to find out that she apparently is not a neurologist at all. Her board certification is in psychiatry, and her husband (who practices out of the same office but may not claim to be a neurologist) is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Apparently because they named their joint business Broome Neurosciences, it was automatically assumed that one of them was a qualified neurologist. What they really do there is brain wave testing, nerve response testing, and sleep studies, at least that's what they did with me. It does not appear to be a coincidence that everyone I know (3 plus myself) who has been referred to their office has been ordered to undergo multiple sleep studies and been told that they have sleep apnea. I don't have any of the symptoms except being tired in the morning, and that, I believe is because of my chronic (13 years) fibromyalgia pain. I couldn't fall asleep or stay asleep during my study due to extreme discomfort, itching, pain and frustration, yet they claimed that I slept 81% of the time and stopped breathing 16 times per hour. As a result, I don't believe anything she says to me, and I am looking for a REAL neurologist. Also, I have never been given anything on paper for any test results, and even my daughter, who is a nurse, was confused by the convoluted discussion of my symptoms and initial test results when she went with me for a followup appointment. She could not imagine how anyone with memory or other cognitive issues would ever know what their condition really was or whether the treatment/ medication prescribed was appropriate or helpful. I had a very strong sleepiness/ dizzyness reaction to gabapentin, which I reported to her office after a few days because I couldn't function. She insisted that I continue to take it because the side effects should wear off within a few weeks. I couldn't stay awake if I sat down, or drive safely, or walk without weaving and stumbling for a full month, yet she was reluctant to take me off the gabapentin before I had been on it for the full month. Then I could take nothing at all for the neuropathy pain and muscle issues for 6 weeks to clear the gabapentin from my system. By the time I could have had something else, I was so disgusted with the doctor, I wouldn't allow her to treat me anymore. So I wasted 4 months on inappropriate treatment by an unqualified doctor, and now it will be another 3-4 months before I can get in to see a qualified neurologist to start over. Needless to say, I am very angry that this kind of thing could even happen. You would think that the healthcare system would check the credentials and licensing of their participating physicians and give accurate referrals.

Dr. Joel Lori has been my allergist since I can remember when I was little, about 3 years old. He's…read morebeen been the best doctor I've known for at least 24+ years. When ENTs can't help and don't know my history of over twenty different allergies, with the worst among them being grass, mold, and certain trees (fireplaces make me very ill) and want to blame it on my less severe allergy to cats and dogs, Dr. Lori has been the only doctor who didn't immediately say give up my pets (my kids), and handled my asthma and multiple allergies with considerable care. He's also the only one who has successfully treated me when I got bronchitis from work on several occasions (fireplace season) on the first treatment. When I saw my regular doctor, I'd be with a chronic sinus infection that could last several months, and they'd want me to keep coming back in multiple times, because they wouldn't give me proper antibiotic type, dosage, duration, or combination of the above. I've rarely had to see him twice for the same thing. When I was younger my allergies to cats were severe when he first met me as a child (I was almost hospitilized with my allergies just petting a neighbor's cat). He helped talk to us about home solutions and things that would help, and found the right allergy medicine (they work differently for different people.) Over the years with slow introductions I've become somewhat desensitized to my cat and dog allergies (not cured, but per bloodwork, significantly better). I went from severe to moderate, and have had multiple cats for over 20 years now. Life would be a depressing and boring place without my kids (cats) and I've been able to help volunteer with rescues and shelters on occasion as well, thanks to Dr. Lori's suggestions and help. He's helped my brother tremendously with his allergies and asthma throught his life as well (he has more allergies than I do.) His need in the allergy field can't be measured. I highly recommend Horizon Medical in Scranton to anyone looking for a logical, compassionate, and dedicated doctor who actually strives to help his patients.

I am a school teacher. I have been teaching for ten years. As many of you probably know, teachers…read moredon't make a lot of money so I work a lot. I teach Special Education all day and Tutor Thirteen hours a week. That being said, the only time I am available is during my lunch and planning period, which happen to be back to back today. I am in the process of trying to get Allergy Shots to help with severe allergies and minor breathing problems. These shots need to be administered weekly. Since this office is only open until 4:00 PM, I had to go at lunch. The last allergy shot before their lunch is at 11:30 and the office doesn't reopen until 1:00 PM. (They have a hour and a half for lunch! ). I have a 20 minute drive to get there and I got stuck in traffic on the way there. I literally parked my cAr and ran into the office with ONE minute to spare!! I made it!!(Or so I thought). The window was closed and the blinds were down. (Apparently, an hour and a half isn't long enough for lunch. The nurses needed to leave during office hours.) Since I was there I went to the other window, where I was asked to wait while a receptionist was on the phone. When she came to the window, I asked if I could have my allergy shot and she and another receptioonist said I was too late! They said it was after1130. I mentioned that I arrived before 1130 and they were closed then. She said maybe we are on different ime and I explained that I'm using the I Phone, which tells accurate time. The women then proceeded to give me a sheet with the office hours on it that I already had. She was also extremely rude and disrespectful . She corrected me when I said the last appointment was 1130 and said "We don't have appointments!". I reworded my sentence and stated the last allergy shot is at 1130 and I was there on time. She also mentioned that the nurses needed a doctor present to give shots and said the doctor went to lunch early. I saw MY doctor still working behind them. I was irate and very upset!! All of the rushing around, inconvenience and disrespect literally brought me to tears. Then the receptionist ad the audacity to ask what I did for a living and why I couldn't come back later and I mentioned that I was a teacher who tutors and also explained that most people work past 4:00 PM. This whole situation was extremely inconvenient and the staff was very arrogant and rude!!! I will not go back there!!!!Sadly, I have two doctor s there and I will be finding new ones now I wouldn't recommend this office to an enemy! I truly hope this helps someone else not waste time, money, or unnecessary disrespectful treatment. ;)
