But I was taking a peek at their charcuterie case and the porchetta was making my mouth water. The woman working was good enough to slice me a few slices and waved off a payment. My mom and I sat at their outdoor table and enjoyed the sample. It was heaven. By all means stop in and try their selection. The thing I have learned since - and wished I had known that day! - was not to trust Rick Steves's food recommendations! My wife's ravioli was undercooked. My pasta was fine but bland and unremarkable compared to the many excellent meals I had during my Italian vacation. On top of the poor food quality, we were accosted by a street performer/mime who came into the restaurant and stood at our table silently begging for money. She did not take no for an answer and the restaurant staff did nothing. I eventually gave her a Euro just to get her to leave us alone. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant. I can't offer an alternative since we only had the one meal while in Pisa, but given the ease of finding a good meal everywhere we went in Italy, I cannot imagine it would be difficult to do better.

The secondis (veal scalop pizzaiola & with mushrooms) were also excellent & the bill was very good value for money. Bottomline is... we went back the next day for lunch !!!

They were so helpful with the Italian/English menu, we ended up picking great food. I say again, great tasting food. They were concerned that we might not like it, because it's not fancy...etc. Well, it was terrific! Family run, and concerned about quality. According to the chef, the batter is made daily, with live yeast. - Often more than once a day to keep it fresh. It had a crisp crust, and fresh ingredients. It was some of the best pizza we've had, and was Inexpensive. It far exceeded some of the more highly referenced Pizza restaurants in town.
