My hubby and I were driving up through Munising from the Ann Arbor area for a wedding in Marquette this weekend. This was our one chance to do something just us for our weekend getaway and we weren't disappointed. Didn't really know what to expect, but it was a beautiful sunny day with little to no wind on a Friday in July. We sat on the middle deck right by the windows which I highly recommend. The captain Zack, was funny, informative, and really added to the experience. Not only are the pictures rocks beautiful, but we got to learn some science and history. This cruise was great. Only thing better if there were all window seats. Got there an hour early and line was very long. Got stuck inside, so dissapointed at first, but we were still able to see the Pictured rocks. Got extremely close on the way back for great photos. Sit on right(Starboard)side for best photos on trip out of town. read more

Really cool way to see the pictures rocks! The captain/tour guide was super knowledgeable. He did warn us that the waves were high and we might get sea sick so to leave if you're prone to sea sickness and you'll get a refund. I am but I was determined to go out! He was right though, I was super nauseous the whole time and there were a few "uh oh" moments were I thought my lunch was gonna come up but I made it! If you're prone to sea sickness make sure to take Dramamine and prepare! But besides that we had an awesome time :) read more

Was a great ride with beautiful views of course. The workers on our boat, miners cave I believe, were amazing! Lou, I believe was one of the gentleman's names, was great. He came up to us at the back of the boat giving us some fun information, offered to take our photo, and even gave us a pictured rocks quarter! What a kind gesture that made this experience even more special and unforgettable. Will recommend to anyone and hopefully make it back for the other things they offer! read more

Took charter late in September. Ordered tickets online and picked up tickets at will call no problem. Got in line one hour prior to get good seats, Weather was beautiful at dock. Left on time. Everything within the control of the company went very smooth. The only glitch , about 30 minutes later, when we arrived at the rocks the fog came in like I had never seen before. Couldn't see anything. To his credit, the Captain kept us entertained and the passengers all knew this was out of crews control. After another 20 or 30 minutes of cruising through the fog and catching glimpses of shore the Captain decided to head in early. He said he was pretty sure the fog was not going to lift. To my surprise a full refund was given to passengers who did not want to rebook. This was done seamlessly and automatically. We did not have to get back in a line to get a refund. We paid with credit card and the captain told us it would be reversed. The next day I saw the refund on my card. Kudos to Picture Rock Cruises. I would have been happy with a half refund considering we had a nice time and still ended up taking a pretty cool boat ride through the fog. The fact that they gave a full refund demonstrates a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. We'll be seeing them next year for sure. read more

I highly recommend taking the time out for this cruise if you can! I'm so glad we did! The boat is nice, the staff is so friendly and the captain gave great commentary thoughout the cruise. The views were just beautiful! I do recommend getting there a little early so you can get an outside seat for better views. I would actually do this again if given the opportunity. read more

This place was pretty awesome! Unfortunately, I was there on a bad weather day. We didn't quite get all the way through our tour and had to turn around early because of dense fog. But our captain did his very best to get us in close for some good photos when the sun peeked out. Once we got back on dry land, we were given a 1/3 refund on the trip, which was appreciated. I would love to be able to go back on a sunny day to see whatever was at the very end there that I missed. But I got some really great photos and enjoyed the trip immensely. read more

It was nice but we are spoiled, this year included Bryce Canyon & Zion National Parks so this was a little disappointing. That being said if you haven't been t those places this is a nice cruise. We thought it was a little pricey for what it was but ... we are glad we went, there are a lot of nice waterfalls and some pretty cool rocks along the shore. read more

I've taken the cruise three times (with different sets of friends). Pros: i) I've hiked the Pictured Rocks, but seeing the cliffs from a boat is certainly the way to go - especially the sunset cruise with the setting sun shining up the cliffs. Rich colors. ii) On a calm day with a warm breeze, the ride itself is very enjoyable. iii) On the outgoing trip, the captain provides interesting information about the formation of the cliffs and colors. Cons: i) The return trip provides no new sites, and no more information about the cliffs. A bit more info about the geological formation of the cliffs, why they are there and not elsewhere on the earth would add interest and value for the return. read more

We went on the boat ride which was very nice. Sit on the right side of the boat. Even though you pass it on the way back, they don't repeat where you are miss the fun facts at each spot. Also, be prepared for people not to follow directions and stand up to take pictures in front of you. It would have been 5-stars if the guard had sat up there to monitor people. Very cool way to see the Pictured Rocks. I'd avoid the top deck if its even a little bit chilly out. The lower deck is heated and enclosed. Call ahead for reservations and get there early cause it does sell out. The crew were very personable and very knowledgeable. read more

This was a very nice cruise to see all the pictured rocks from water. After hiking all day inside the actual forest, it was really nice to see what the view looked like. The only thing is that there was no heater inside the boat, which we expected, so pack warm. Also there is no food but there are some beverages like soda and lemonade. Enjoy! read more

Great scenary on a great day, and by far the best thing to do in Munising!

I went on this cruise two weeks ago and this was well worth the trip to Munising. We did the Spray Falls cruise, $35, we had our choice to pick from 4 boats. We made sure to sit up top, front row, right side. The tour was very informative, we were able to get so close to the rocks, take pictures, and admire the awesome rock formations! They had reasonable priced snacks on board to purchase. The cruise back to the dock was so peaceful and relaxing. I took so many pictures and it was hard to choose which one was my favorite one. The staff on board were very friendly and made sure to keep us entertained during the cruise!!! read more

Had to cancel 5 pm tour due to storms, quick refund, very courteous. Rescheduled for 10 am the next day. Very clear in the harbor, didn't take long to run into fog as thick as pea soup. The boat continued to Miner's Rock which was hidden in the fog. The boat was turned around and we were given a quick and courteous refund again. Our schedule didn't allow us to stay on for the 1 pm tour. One suggestion/complaint is why don't they have a scout boat out at Miner's Rock to let them know the conditions before they waste an hour of everyone's day and a lot of fuel as well? read more

Took the 6:00 3 hour tour for $35 very reasonable dollars for the awesome wonder of these pictured/painted rock formations....did it last week and I am still thinking about it...didn't need reservations either. Wear everything...when we left it was 84 out and on way back a storm came (lots of fun) and temp dropped to 64....it should be on everyones bucket list...oh, they do a drawing for a picture book and I won that too...haha a very good cruise read more

We took the 1:30 cruise for Spray Falls on a beautiful day in mid-September. We were so pleased we did this as this is one of the best ways to really enjoy the shoreline. The photo opportunities were great. We were sitting on the upper deck and on the right side, as we had been advised by a fellow hiker to do earlier. The crew was delightful. The only warning we would have is to start lining up early for your cruise. The lines start forming about an hour before. Luckily, our friendly fellow hiker also advised us to do this as well so we were number 25 of what looked like more than 100 individuals on this cruise. They did launch two boats consecutively. We never went below so not sure what the accommodations would be, but it would certainly be comfortable on a rainy or cold day. read more

This is a must do if you're in the area. Not really much else to do unless you like to backpack through the trails and see beautiful waterfalls. I love the U.P. This cruise (boat ride) gives you the best view of the Pictured Rocks; my mom loved it, kids were ok with it. read more

This cruise was amazing. The Pictured Rocks are an incredible beauty that need to be experienced in person. I took the Spray Falls cruise and for only $45, I more than got my money's worth. The cruise took place on a large catamaran, so it was a smooth ride and the boat captain gets you right next to the Pictured Rocks. We sat on the second deck, outside, on the left-hand side of the boat. This was right behind the indoor cabin, which blocked the wind and made a chilly day not too bad. It doesn't matter what side of the boat you sit on. If you sit on the right-hand side, you'll be next to the Pictured Rocks on the way out, if you sit on the left-hand side, you'll be right next to the Pictured Rocks on the way back. Regardless, you see all of the Pictured Rocks on a 2.5 hr cruise. I can't recommend this highly enough. It's amazing. read more

Took the Sunset Cruise at 6:30 pm on 9/23 and it was one of the hottest days. The cruise was absolutely beautiful and my BF and I thoroughly enjoyed everything except our seats were in the cabin. It was stuffy inside and could use some AC (didn't get a seat next to the window). We moved to the back of the boat outside and stood the whole time and didn't mind as it was by far one of the best areas to catch some awesome picst! Staff was friendly and the captain/director brought some humor into the cruise. I would definitely recommend the Sunset Cruise to friends and family! Thank you!! read more

In my opinion, this is something everyone must do when visiting the Pictured Rocks. Though tickets are a little bit pricey, it's worth it considering the views and length of the boat trip (about 2.5 hours). It's pretty much the best and only way to see the Pictured Rocks close up. The sunset cruise at 7pm was the one I went on and the views were absolutely stunning. I was on the Miss Superior boat and the captain and crew were friendly and funny. Overall, it was so much fun and offered incredible views of the Pictured Rocks. If you plan on going, make sure you get there early to get a good seat! read more

I was super excited to book this cruise to celebrate my birthday. I got an email that the cruise was cancelled due to bad weather. The email said that I could possibly take the cruise the next day. It looked like we could adjust our schedule around to make that work, so I called the number provided and the woman just wanted to refund my money. I asked about taking it the next day as she had offered me (I was speaking to the woman who sent the email), and she said, "Well, it looks like the weather is going to be the same...I'll just refund your money.". They weren't non-refundable tickets to begin with but I was struck by how it seemed she just wanted to return my money rather than get us on another boat and take the revenue. I later checked a weather report and it is supposed to be super windy today, but tomorrow its should be sunny all day (granted, I know nothing about navigating a boat, but the two forecasts were worlds apart). My advice would be to book later in the season. read more

we ordered our tickets same day, which we were happy that they were able to accommodate us as we had a change in plans for that day. we just did the regular cruise. it is well worth the money. there is no bad view, even when you have a lot of people trying to get pics of the same thing. the cruise lasted about 3 hours? it didn't seem like it as it was just a very nice time. it's a must tourist attraction if you go to pictured rocks, you wont be disappointed. read more

Best deal in the UP! How else can you see this spectacularly amazing sight. Captain amused us. Did falls tour which is a larger catamaran boat so betting better for those questioning sea sickness. Forget those that complain about the price. Even thought we had clouds, it was a constant amazement of Mother Nature. read more
