This was one of the most blatantly rude and unprofessional interactions I've had at a restaurant.. I'm honestly still in shock. We arrived at The Pier in Point Roberts at 7:30pm, an hour and a half before their posted 9pm closing time. There were still multiple tables actively dining, yet the host immediately shut us down with a blunt "Nope, we're closed," with zero explanation and an unmistakably dismissive attitude. When my sister politely asked if there was anywhere else nearby that might still be open, the response was another cold "Nope, none," again without even making eye contact. No effort to be helpful, no basic courtesy, just outright indifference. If you're going to stop seating early, that's your prerogative, but at least have the decency to communicate it like a professional. This is the hospitality industry, and the absolute bare minimum expectation is basic politeness. That standard was completely ignored here. The fact that guests were still dining while we were treated like an inconvenience only made the experience more confusing and off-putting. It honestly gave the impression that unless you're already "in," you're not welcome. There's no excuse for this level of rudeness. read more

A hidden gem in Point Roberts. From the outside, it looks like a marina building - a bit weathered (but "The Pier" is located at the marina....) But if you come for food, prepared to be delighted. Chef Cam and Tamra have created a menu that calls you back again and again. You can go for the best smash burger you've ever had, but I lean towards their Tuscan pasta or rack of lamb. You might not expect to get this quality of food in a small town, but prepared to be amazed. Lovely server (hi, Tatum!) in a quiet room with a lovely view. We were here precovid when it was very busy. The food is as good as it was before (still FAR too much meat in their Clubhouse) I had the club with fries (and yes, they do sprinkle them with sugar... which is weird but tasty) which was great after I picked out 1/2 the ham... My companion had the smash burger without house sauce and pickles, with a replacement bun (potato, tomato and cuke allergy, yay, latex ) and ceaser salad. All very fresh and tasty, with a careful chef (he knew there was potato in the regular bun, and he came out with options.) Very fresh salad greens, which is nice to have. Nice dressing. Warning: burger patties are pork/beef mix, which makes them soft and tasty, but people who can't eat pork need to know. read more

Visited for dinner and was very pleasantly surprised at how delicious and well-presented the food was! I had the salmon and I think it was the best I have eaten skin on and perfectly seasoned and crispy! Beautifully prepared smoky grilled vegetables with a lovely butter sauce. Just excellent! Good drinks atmosphere ams friendly service as well. Going back for lunch soon! read more

Great experience! Great service, wonderful food. We've been in Point Roberts for 25 years and we've seen many restaurants come and go. We haven't been to the Pier for some time, so this experience was a very pleasant surprise. I have some limiting dietary restrictions and the chef was very accommodating. Our waiter was pulling double duty and serving while doing bar service, but he didn't miss a beat! He was friendly and got all our orders 100% correct without writing anything on paper. Will definitely go back there again. read more

Found a piece of glass in one of our waters. Manager was rude and drunk. Food was nothing special and decor looked like it came from 1985 and was covered in grime. Won't repeat. Waste of $100. read more

Grilled cheese with mushrooms and onions was incredible and huge! Two people could share it. Yam fries were the weave type which was fantastic, never had them anywhere like that before, much better since yam fries are always a bit soft and saggy normally when done like regular string fries. View should be better upstairs which is open only at night. Sevice was OK, cutlery and tablecloth was dirty. Bar area in the back is very dark. Hard to get cell reception anywhere in PR, wich they had free wifi. read more

Went on a Margarita Monday. We had to sit in the lounge before we were seated at a table on the patio, which was okay, as they were pretty busy. Part way through the meal we requested a seat inside, as the patio does get chilly - take a jacket if you'd like to stay out and watch the sunset. Unfortunatley the poblano soup - the special of the day - was sold out, so Our appy arrived incredibly quickly, but that's because we got it instead of the the table across from us (which we figured out because we overheard them complaining about how long it was taking to get their baked Camembert). Regardless, it was fantastic - served with thin slices of apple and pear, and an intense balsamic reduction that we ate right off the spoon. The prawn squewer with thai chili sauce was mediocre, a little dry and over done. The blueberry mojito comes highly recommended. I had the mexican-esque salad (chicken, black beans, corn, cilantro etc...), and my boyfriend had the burrito. Both were good, but not outstanding. My chicken was a little dry. The servers were a little confused about table numbers and food orders; more than once we saw them head outside with food, looking for their orderers... only to come back with the food and a confused look on their face. I think they just opened recently, so it's probably because of that. I'll give it another try next time I'm at the Point - it's nice to have somewhere to go for dinner down there, as the selection is pretty limited. read more

Went in on Friday night and it was amazing! Crowd and atmosphere were cozy, warm, inviting and friendly. Servers and bartenders made blueberry lemon drop drinks - which I highly recommend. So delicious! Had fresh veggie pizza out of the wood burning oven - INCREDIBLE! This pizza is the best pizza I have ever tried. The staff was so attentive, friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The overall experience was the best I had throughout my holidays in Vancouver and Point Roberts. I can't wait to return!!! read more

Great food and wonderful view of the marina and the boats sailing out to sea. This restaurant was recommended by a waitress at a nearby cafe which closes at 3:00 PM on a Saturday afternoon! This restaurant's patio was closed and the dining room was filled with late lunchers, so we sat at the lounge which provided scenic views of the marina and boats. We ordered the calamari appetizer followed by the grilled cheese sandwich with upgraded yam fries and a burger with french fries. The calamari was delicious, lightly crispy and not over-fried, and served with a marina sauce which was a nice change from the usual tsatsiki sauce. The sandwich and yam fries were crispy and the sandwich was oozing with cheese, fried onions, and mushrooms. The burger was huge, served on a toasted potato bun and filled with red peppers and goat cheese and came with lettuce, tomato, and a big slab of pickle. We arrived just after 3:00 PM during a shift change, so the food took a while to arrive. The bill came to $54 including tip, and given the quality of the food and the lovely views, I would not hesitate to come here again. read more

Possibly the WORST $30 lunch ever! For two beers and a burger! Service was horrible...the barman/server was prancing around doing all kinds of stuff except paying attention to the customers at the bar! Took forever to get the menu and ANOTHER forever to get a beer on tap! When he suggested the Molten burger..I agreed and was impressed when he asked me "How would you like it? I recommend medium rare". For someone who likes his steak "bleu" I was totally impressed that this was going to be a hand made patty so asked for it medium but more on the rare side. I didn't like the dressing choices for my salad so asked for oil (assuming it would be EVOO) and balsamic vinegar separately. The burger took 20 minutes..and the oil was anything BUT olive oil let alone extra virgin! Waving an empty beer glass for minutes got neither the Owner's nor the other server's attention. They were busy talking about a trip to Whistler! The Owner clearly is wallowing in $$$ from a recent deal with a Chinese investor... The burger was WELL DONE, the salad was blah and the experience sucked - although the Owner did suggest they could make me another one...but almost an hour later....I declined and left half of it and the salad, AND the beer, paid and left. Okay.. pretty expensive and food just okay. There are better places on the Point. South Beach house and Brewsters. Didn't feel like they understand the Point atmosphere. Philly cheesesteak was weird had mushrooms and peppers. I have been to Philly and know a Philly and this was not one. Hey.. thin sliced beef with onions and lots of melted cheese. Noticed the signs outside as we drove up - "NEW MENU" "NEW CHEF" "NEW HOURS" when we stopped for lunch here today. Including us there were 4 tables (2 were finishing meals) so it was far from busy. Placed our order and waited. 20 minutes after we ordered another couple showed up & were seated across from us. They took a while to order, but after 10 minutes they decided what they wanted and put in their order, too. Still we waited. And waited. Finally!!! Our waiter arrives with 2 plates and proceeds to ask which of us ordered a slamon burger. Neither of us. How about a Reuben. Not ours either. (He took our order, why didn't he know what we ordered?) "Hmmm,Weird" he says, then wanders over to the couple across from us - lo & behold it's THEIR order arriving less than 10 minutes after ordering!! Meanwhile we are still waiting. And waiting. With no waiter or any other staff in sight to ask why we were still sitting hungry. As we reach the one hour mark (and as the folks across from us are finishing off the last bites of their quick-to-appear meal) our waiter finally reappears - So, he says, what happened is this: the printer ran out of paper in the back, your order was on it, ...Blah Blah Blah. So, it will be another 9-10 minutes before you get your food. REALLY??? We actually had to ask him for a refill on the long empty coffee at this point. Sure enough, 10 minutes later our meal finally arrives. It was just ok, nothing special or noteworthy, but after all how bad can you mess up a burger and a sandwich...oh, wait..let's not tempt fate. As he had promised, our waiter "took care" of us when the bill arrived. The sandwich charge was removed. Still got charged full price for Coffee ($2) Lemonade ($4) and burger ($12). Massive fail on a mediocre meal - a manager should have made the effort to walk over and apologize, and they should have comped the whole meal off the bill since it was totally their fault. We left with the distinct feeling that they could not have cared less about us or the messed up order. Cannot recommend this place to anyone, and we will not be going back.
