This hairdressers is way too snooty. I went once with a discount card that my friend had been given and just got a cut and blow dry. They were nice enough but all the staff seemed like they were running in the back to bitch about all the customers. Or like they had TV cameras on them. Very fake, not very sincere. The hair cut itself was fine. The chat over and done with without too much pain or awkwardness on my part ( I have a phobia of hairdresser chats i.e. examinations of my life from a stranger's point of view). But lets face it if I hadn't had the discount card I would not have been able to have afforded Pierre Alexandre's prices. And no-one's even heard of him. Whose hair does he do that I want? Hmm. To get the hair I want I'd have to have extensions put in underneath so that is a lost cause but anyway - overpriced for what it is because to the untrained eye (mine) there was no difference between this and a cheaper salon. read more

I missed my last hair appointment as a result of being ill boooo! I was in desperate need to sort out the mess on top of my head so I frantically searched for somewhere reasonably priced in the city centre with a good reputation. Using the treatwell app I was able to book my appointment at Pierre Alexandre, completely hassle free. As I was booking last minute I got a really good deal so I felt it was really good value. You could pay upon booking but I opted to pay in the salon. So in terms of booking this place was great, really easy and affordable for last minute appointments. Overall my whole experience was ok, nothing to massively complain about, my haircut was good at the end of day and that is the most important thing. But the little extras you expect from a salon these days were lacking. The customer service was ok, nothing to rave about. The whole place felt a little bit unclean, it was late on a Saturday afternoon so I understand they were busy but it's quite a basic thing. I would go back, it was good value and my hair was good so happy days. I wouldn't, however, pay the full price. On my list eloquently titled 'Things I'd rather not do but can't avoid if I want to look remotely acceptable', having my hair cut is up there alongside "visiting the dentist" and "eating less food". Some people love how pampered it makes them feel, how confident they walk out after a bouncy blow-dry or how much gossip they gain from chats at the backwash. I don't feel or want any of these things. I think it stems from an awful work experience placement I had in high school. My teachers didn't have any contacts with design agencies so presumed I would want to style hair instead. You can imagine my dread as soon as appointment day came around, but this visit was relatively pain-free. On arriving at Pierre Alexandre, the staff seemed to be in the middle of some kind of team photo shoot. I was asked details of my appointment and ushered on to a bar stool in the window to wait. No attempt was made to take my jacket or dripping-wet brolly. Eventually, I was offered a drink and the experience got a whole lot more friendly. My stylist was Stephanie. After a short wait, I was led across the clean and modern salon to a very comfy chair where we discussed how she would tackle my mop. Listening to my problems and suggesting solutions, she made me feel like my hair was in good, capable hands. I then had my hair washed by a young man who was very chatty - he asked all the usual questions, listened to my answers and seemed genuinely interested; good work that man! Nothing was said during the cutting process. I liked that. It makes me feel confident that Stephanie's attention was focused on the hair cut. Most hairdressers attempt small talk for the sake of it and it's resulted in some of the worst cuts and most awkward silences I've ever known. If I had one criticism it would be that the comb kept catching my ear and began to get quite painful, but other than that it was great. I appreciated how she would prevent the trimmed hair from falling into my lap or onto my face - there's nothing worse than an itchy walk home. The salon was clean, light, bright and cleverly designed. Behind each station was a hidden set of shelves. My jacket was placed on a rail behind my mirror, which avoided the identification parade of coats at the end of most cuts. There was no hard-sell at the till - no attempts made to book me in again in 6 weeks time. Efficient staff, no awkward conversation and I left with less hair than I arrived with. As we all know, getting ones hair cut is not a walk in the park. Entrusting someone with something so obvious (and public if anything is to go wrong!) as your barnet can break many out into a panic, myself included. Needing something done prior to a recent event at work and not being able to book in at 'my usual', I decided to try Pierre Alexandre. Directly across the road from work, PA is open different hours to usual, from 10am-7pm, making it much easier for us 9-5ers to get a chop. You can also book online, which is perfect for anyone who doesn't like using the phone... Simply click through, select your date, then the service and time you require. At this point you can also request the different levels of stylists which will impact your final price point. I was warmly welcome by my stylist and shown to my chair for a quick consultation. The shampoo and conditioning was pretty standard with a short head massage that seems to be standard when visiting the hairdresser nowadays! My stylist Mollie was lovely and chatty throughout the process, asking lots of questions about past styles and colours, and giving me some insight into the 'behind the scenes' of the hairdresser world. My final price was £30, £10 less than I was expecting to pay, plus I was given a small gift bag with some conditioning treatment samples as a festive thank you. A lovely experience which I think I will be repeating, especially as their opening times and booking process means they work around my schedule as opposed to the other way around. read more

Right. Let's get the positives out of the way. The haircut was fine and fast - 40 minutes is excellent, and there was a minimum of chit-chat, which was also nice. I had no problems with the stylist really. The problem came from what I can only describe as sneaky tactics, if not downright misrepresentation - when booking over the phone, I'd inquired as to whether or not I could use a 40% off voucher - I could! Fantastic! So a £25 gent's haircut for £15. What could go wrong? What could go wrong was that I was never told that I'd been booked with a senior stylist: at a cost of £45 normally, the actual cost (even with the voucher) was more than the £25 that I'd originally banked on! I'm really not sure whether to call this a scam or not but it sure felt like it at the time. Avoid. read more

They do not respond and act professionally towards customers and it seems to me that customers' satisfaction is not their priority!!! I was almost forced by them to cancel my Groupon voucher recently! AWFUL! Booked for a haircut and style. The lady who cut my hair was extremely rude and barely even said hello, there was a look of disdain on her face the entire time. I asked to have an inch taken off the bottom and to have to long subtle layers, nothing too complicated. However I received a complete hack job with uneven layers, some 4 inches shorter than the rest of my hair, not long layers at all! Then when she was drying my hair it felt like she was pulling it out! She kept getting it caught in a round brush and then just pulling on it to get it out. I am extremely disappointed as I had read other good reviews, but was really unimpressed. The overall atmosphere was awkward and it felt like most members of staff were judgemental and gossiping about customers. I will not be going here again. read more

I've just had my hair cut here, all the staff were really nice and professional too. The lady who cut my hair was friendly and offered advice when appropriate whilst also doing what I asked! She did my hair really nicely and put a lot of effort into the final touches and dried it nicely which was nice. I would definitely go again, All in all a pleasant experience. read more

I booked massage appointments with this salon in Leeds via Treatwell and also directly with the salon and after the first two appointments I've had so many issues: 1) Confirmed appointments - I've turned up on time only to be told they had double booked - this happened three times. 2) Staff re-arranging appointments over the phone and then another staff member calling to cancel the appointment due to staff shortages. 3) Staff on the phone appear to be clueless about basics and do not appear to have been trained well. Due to the above occurring a number of times and salon making no effort to resolve any of the above I will no longer be using the above salon. I would strongly recommend anyone booking to do the following: 1) Do not part money beforehand (I would be surprised if this company was still in business at the end of 2018). 2) If you do book without paying then phone them before you leave home on the same day as the appointment even if you have a text confirmation - to make sure they have you fully booked in. This place is wonderful, I had my hair cut by the brilliant Angelina, she was so friendly and made the experience a pleasant one. Getting my hair cut is the one of my least favourite activities so to have someone like her do it was great. The place itself is clean and the quality of products used is High. I will be going again for my next trim that for sure! It was raining heavily when I got my hair done and I didn't have a brolly, she gave me a towel to keep my hair dry as I ran back to work which was very thoughtful! read more

Had another amazing cut and finish with Angelina (senior stylist) last night - she is the jewel in this salon's crown! After a terrible experience with an over-confident hair colourist here in November (promised a colour transformation in one day without a strand test, switching between clients etc), and a receptionist who made me to pay upfront for a result that required colour correction the following week (I was so upset with the state and colour of my hair I just wanted to leave the salon so didn't quibble with the payment he requested which I should have), I nearly lost faith in Pierre Alexandre. This is a shame, as finding a good salon you trust in a new city is no mean feat... Following November's colour correction incident, Angelina cut and styled my hair beautifully, and sent me home with a goodie bag full of samples for my misfortune. Having returned again last night (yes - it took me over 3 months to pluck up the courage to return to the 'dressers!), she invested extra time into giving me a complimentary deep condition (hair's been dry to say the least following last year's colouring incident!) and another fantastic cut and blowout. The salon has a lovely vibe, the girls on reception are always pleasant and polite and it always seems like most of the stylists are attentive and skilled. It's in a great location if you're a city dweller and they offer last minute appointment discounts via their app which is great if, like me you work away a lot and only know a couple of days in advance whether you'll be available for an evening appointment after work - a fantastic selling point which not all other salons offer. read more

Can honestly say I was given the best haircut I've ever had here. Stepped out the door this morning feeling like a new woman! All the staff are really friendly, I was made to feel really welcome. My stylist Mollie was a dream - she listened to exactly what I wanted, gave me tips how to keep it looking good and was super chatty and lovely. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a big change in style, you can rest assured you'll get exactly what you want out of it. Personally the usual £60 for a cut and blow dry is a little steep for me, but with the £25 groupon it is incredible value for money! Thanks! read more

Laser hair removal, Manchester Store. Generally unpleasant. Cold waiting room, the staff gather at the desk, kept me waiting when there were no other customers, the room is empty and they are just chatting to each other. No offer of a drink, when have paid £200 for these appointments. When inside the room, more offers at discount of 82% repeatedly pushed on me. I was given a dirty eye cover to wear once, covered inside with someone else's mascara and eye-shadow, disgusting. The process is super messy because of the gel that is applied to 'conduct' the laser (which I didn't have when I had laser before) and the laser has some block of ice or synthetic ice or something at the end of it, anyway, it is hard. They are so rough with the laser, pressing hard and rubbing it over my skin quite quickly, banging into ankles bones and pubic bones without apology, even when I winced and said ow: nothing. In the end it is a mess, covered in this gel that doesn't come off easily, the disposable table paper stuck to every part that had been lasered. Wanted to clean myself before getting dressed, but all that was on offer was more paper towels and a dirty flannel in the sink. Have never been given anything like paper knickers, or a towel to cover my modesty which I had at another salon, so I left some clothes on, and they ended up getting covered in gel too. Doesn't feel like a beauty session, more like torment. I have had 6 sessions with a different laser before, (more painful but at least it worked) and just wanted to have a few more to completely remove the last few dark hairs. After 3 sessions I see no difference. Could not stress more, AVOID this salon. There is a reason it is so cheap, it is a complete waste of money and in the end false economy. read more

I've had microdemabrasion at the salon several times before and had a pleasant, proffessional experiance everytime, so I thought why not try the hairdressers which saves me travelling over an hour to my normal salon. I booked an appointment through the app which promised a 40% discount for last minute appointments. I recieved a confirmation text for the time/date along with a little note saying they couldnt give me the discount advertised and offered 20% off instead with no explaination provided. At the time I didnt mind and 20% off plus the conveniance was worth it to me. However when I turned up for the appointment the receptionist told me that the appointment had been changed to half an hour earlier to accomodate the hairdressers schedule however I hadnt been informed, the staff were apologetic and friendly and tried to book me in for another appointment but ultimatly I feel really put off. I dont trust services who offer appointments and discounts that they cannot honour. What I thought was going to be a convieniant, proffessional hair appointment turned out to be a massive waste of time. read more

I used to visit the city centre salon when I was working, and I saw that a salon had opened in Didsbury. I thought I'd treat myself as I'm going away for Easter and I phoned on Monday to book an appointment. The answer-phone message said that the salon was closed and so I called the main number, spoke to a girl who tried to book me in for an appointment, but I wanted to talk to someone about my hair first because of medical issues. She told me her colleague was away from her desk but would call me back later that day. I waited by the phone. Nothing. I was busy on Tuesday and so I tried again today at 10am. This time I was put straight through to the main number and went through the same dance with the girl as on Monday, except now I was "priority". 1pm came and went and no-one had phoned me back and so I tried again. I sat through 2-3 minutes of messages and muzak and then I was cut off. I actually heard someone pick up the phone, voices in the background and then the receiver went down again. I sat through the messages and muzak a THIRD time and finally got through. I was told the same thing again and that someone would call me back ASAP. I had to go out at 2pm so I left the answer phone on. Just in case. It used to be you could talk to a qualified stylist in the salon directly but now they seem to have adopted some weird switchboard-ring back system that just doesn't work! It's 4.30pm, nearly the end of the third working day and still no one has phoned me back. I'm sure the salon is as wonderful as it used to be but I can't even get as far as booking an appointment. I've given up and have booked elsewhere before all the pre-Easter appointments are full. I'm almost looking foerward to the moment they call me and I tell them, sorry, you're too late and you've lost a customer, but I think it'll be a cold day in Hell before I hear from them. read more

I came to this hairdresser today, with a groupon voucher for hair cut and blow dry and kerastase conditioning treatment. Very good greating at the reception, was welcomed to have a seat and the the stylist introduced herself. Before washing my hair she started brushing my hair (I am curly, not really easy to do that on dry hair, but I have to admit that the pain was bearable and she was good). Then I went to have my hair washed and the whole process lasted 2-3 minutes (it takes me lot more at home!). The stylist proceeded to cut my hair and I have to admit I am really pleased with the cut as she did a nice job. After that she dried a bit my hair with a hairdryer to remove the excess water and then I was welcomed downstairs to sit under a kind of a hood dryer. 10 minutes after...job done!! No styling at all, no diffuser used and hair still wet at the tips (and she asked me if it was ok...I said yes cause I thought she was going to do something else).My hair were fizzy and with no shape at all! I was looking like my dog after a bath and I can definitely do a better job at home! Won't be using again! read more

The receptionist has no reception skills, she answers the phone badly and greets you badly, i walked in i said at the reception " i have an appointment" the receptionist replied with only " dya wharta take a seat over there" in a mancunian drawl ..( I'm mancunian myself and proud) but not what id expect from a receptionist, a no hello how can i help? would you like a coffee, unfriendly girl, i booked into this salon last week, I had long waste length hair with no layers ( blank canvas) been growing for 3 yrs, I asked for a bangs, I came in with 2 photos of the look I wanted, I was booked in with lucy..never met her, I shown her the photos, I immediately felt id put her under pressure, why? I don't know! my belief was she wasn't capable.. she then started to say I had fine hair ( never been told that in my life) and started to talk me out of the cut, I then became un sure of her, which left me with no confidence in letting her cut my hair, she was talking herself out of it also...which I found strange, I was then switched to another hairdresser "Rebecca" who came with a little more confidents, tbh I should have just left, and I wish I did, the hair cut I wanted was edgy what I got was a boring fringe with a trim, I hate the cut... the layers are amateur and so was the cut, Its what id expect in an old ladies salon , not some edgy hairdressers that they proclaim to be, advertisement's on windows for cutters, Rebecca had only worked their 4 weeks... ? i didn't book through groupon, because a wanted an experience stylist, who keeps up with the growing trend of cuts and styles, i was told lucy would be £50, as she was a director, i had Rebecca cut it, and was asked for £60 LOL LOL LOL, trying to rip me off as well, i said no chance i was told £50 and that's what I'm paying, i felt like throwing them £20 and leaving... i gave her a tip of £5 even though i hated it and told her so.. If you want a simple boring easy hair cut yes...if your looking for some thing edgy... AVOID! I'm so disappointed as i had a blank canvas now I'm back to square one trying to grow this mess out! As others are saying - very snooty, all the staff stare impolitely at you as you come in and there has never been a warm welcome. Booking was a nightmare with rude text messages exchanged to book the appointment via their booking system. Misrepresentation of prices, saying some aren't available but others are and not being transparent about the price increase. Finally got my haircut last week which was okay, but it was the most painful experience. The larger man washing and cutting my hair needs to realise its not about muscle strength when dealing with hair and its a human sitting on the chair. Tears came to my eyes on multiple occasions despite my high pain threshold and I regretted booking this place the entire way through. Mollie is the best! she is talented, funny and attentive listening to what you actually say you would like. The salon is pleasant and modern along with the staff. However I now find myself looking for a new salon (I so don't want to have to) as the manager has repeatedly declined my requests for a refund on services not received (on doctors advice) as being promised when payment was made. This has been going on since the end of September, I am feeling so let down by a company of which I prompted at every discussion regarding hair. read more

i totally disagree with the comments above the salon is ran proffesionally and i have always felt welcome and comfortable with all the staff i feel they cant do enough for me. my children love coming to the salon they are always occupied and fussed by the staff, i have had most of the staff in the salon and couldnt fault any of them, the prices do vary depending on who you have so it is actually affordable depending on what you can afford. i think you presonally pay for quality, i have been going to the salon for years and i have even met pierre himself who is brilliant in the salon. i would recomed this salon to anyone as i have never had a bad experience.
