Now, they have two contemporary services at 9 and 11:15 a.m. I was initially attracted by their three stated goals: following Jesus, empowering 20 & 30-somethings, and changing lives. This church actually practices what they preach! This is a diverse congregation in every sense of the word and that diversity is welcomed and embraced. The sincerity with which Redeemer does most everything is endearing and inspiring. This is a place to grow spiritually, emotionally and socially with others who are interesting and interested in knowing you.

However, I know a few unmarried couples (who sleep together and fornicate at night) who were baptized at this church. I know someone who attends this church who likes to party hard on Saturday nights. There is someone at this church who is a registered s3x offender. I know someone who was baptized at this church who is clinically obese... So they WON'T baptize someone who is in a gay marriage, but they WILL baptize you if you fornicate with your boyfriend/girlfriend. they WILL baptize you if you get blacked out drunk every Saturday but sober up by Sunday. they WILL baptize you if you abuse children behind closed doors. they WILL baptize you if you are a glutton... Basically, the pastor will baptize ALL people who do things considered unholy privately and quietly BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. But NOT people who are open and proud about those same unholy things people do quietly behind closed doors. Clear?

It is a very active church with activities and events for all ages. The block party they hosted was so much fun....music, dancing, food, games prizes and loving, friendly people. Our world and society needs fellowship, friendship and a feeling of belonging and Unity of Oak Park is just that kind of place. Bring some friends to the 10:00 Sunday services with coffee and snacks following. I drive 45 minutes to get there and spend the day in Oak Park enjoying the arts, food, shopping and even visit Brookfield Zoo or the Frank Lloyd Wright studio for a day of pure faith and pleasure.
