I am extremely impressed and appreciative of the services and support provided by this Pillar To Post team. I have only lived in apartments before, so all of this was a new experience for me. My first impression was when speaking with the dispatcher by phone. She is very knowledgeable, and answered questions to me in detail. She was clear, transparent and honest, and did not try to gouge or oversell me on anything. This is a very important point given my lack of experience in this domain. I was invited to attend the inspection, and it was a fascinating process. I have only lived in apartments, so this was my first time being exposed to the internals and sub-systems of a house. The inspector is extremely thorough, and is very knowledgeable and patient if you ask him questions during the inspection. We went through every corner of the home and he pointed out areas which could be problematic, and also aspects which were well constructed. The inspector is very knowledgeable, and these people are easy to interact with. The report I received is very detailed and included critiques, observations, and maintenance tips. I followed up with questions, and got detailed responses. I am very grateful for the expertise and quality of service provided by this company. We bought our home in Oct of '24 and went thru Pillar to Post for our inspection. We thought they had done a thorough job until we noticed there was a patch of black mold on a large master bedroom window blind. I wish we would have said something a year ago. So we had to replace that. The remote control to the garage doors didn't work and found out from the owner that he hadn't used the remote control for 14 years (because he didn't want to pay for a new garage door), so he tried to reinforce the door with extra wood which clearly didn't work. We also should have asked for a credit from the buyer for the heating and air conditioner since it was 23 years old, and of course it broke down after our 1 year warranty, and had to pay $18,000 for a new one. The inspector, I remember, was friendly and nice, and did notice a sump pump that needed to be replaced, and that amount was subtracted from the purchase price. We just wish they would have noticed the other above concerns. read more

After only living in our home less than two years, our inspector from Pillar to Post failed to identify MAJOR dry rot spots (over 10 of them) plus more on the front of our house. None of these spots were identified in the report. We will be spending over $3,000 dollars to fix these boards. We hired a contractor who is very reputable in the Portland and Salem area to fix the doors and he says that this was a HUGE miss on their part. I called Pillar to Post today and claimed it wasn't their fault and we should have hired a contractor to fix these issues and they were not their responsibility to identify them, say what?! Just know if you use Pillar to Post and they make a mistake, they do nothing :(. I have a lot of friends who are real estate agents who I will be passing this along to, unfortunately. I am very very disappointed in the inspection that I had from this company a few years ago. I found out something through having some work done on my house that should have been noted as a major, major, major issue when the inspection was done when the house was purchased. I really hope that there is no mold in my house due to the lack of notifying me in detail about having an issue. This issue is a code violation. In the inspection, the item was listed as concealed. If the item had been installed properly originally, then it would have been very, very visible. Definitely something you wouldn't miss. And if the item was indeed concealed as the inspection showed, that should have been noted as one of the major issues at the beginning of the inspection documents. And not something that the buyer would have to dig through the paperwork and find on the 15th page. read more

I normally do not leave reviews for various places and services because I simply don't have time but the inspection I received from Pillar to Post was so awful that I need to say something. My wife and I bought our first house in Keizer two years ago, William Johnson Jr performed the inspection. William found a few very obvious dry rot spots on the exterior siding and we immediately had those spots replaced and painted after purchasing the home. Fast forward two years later to today while a contractor was painting our house they found an additional 10 dry rot spots AND the trim, bottom shelf and nearby siding around the front exterior window was completely rotted and was so soft you could cut through it like butter. This window is huge and should be a point of major emphasis on an inspection. That kind of dry rot does not happen overnight and this was clearly missed by the inspector. The contractor doing the repairs also couldn't believe how this was missed on the inspection. These repairs will end up costing us at least $3,000 - $4,000 and we are getting a discounted price from a family friend. I'm concerned about what else was missed that we'll have to repair in the future. In conclusion, do not use Pillar to Post for your home inspection. You will regret it. Terrible quality and attention to detail. We will never use them again for our future home purchases, and we have already advised our realtor to not use them, and we will make all of our friends in the area aware to avoid using this company. Our Realtor said it would be fine to use the inspection from the previous interested buyer that fell through, so we did. We had already purchased one for another house where sellers backed out and rates were going up while inventory going down, so for the sake of time and money, we did. First time home buyer eagerness and naivete soon became buyers remorse. We didn't realize that not only did they not fix most issues, but also that it'd be wise to get another inspection to not only follow up on dangerous repairs needed, but that the report is only for the people that purchased the inspection. The report was fairly thorough and pointed out alot of issues. However, missing major code violations on electrical and plumbing among other things. I can't put that on the inspector considering I didn't purchase the inspection but word to the wise, reinspect, don't rush, and MAKE SURE THE "REPAIR RECEIPTS" are actual receipts and not a proposal or quote. All and all... make sure you interview your potential realtors and pick the best, trustworthy and knowledgeable realtor that has more than a sale as their incentive. My house has cost me a fortune, continues to cost me, and I'm constantly worried about electrical fire, plumbing issues (again),structural malfunctions (like chimney leaning leaving huge gap between house and brick over an inch (?) Wide.. another energy leak. Sellers claimed one thing and reports and self inspection say otherwise. And fixing stuff doesn't mean CAULK everything in the house! It's just hit 3 yrs here and I've fired 2 incompetent contractors that also think it's OK to cut corners.... what happened to morals and quality work because it's your job? Not how much it will make you. When you lose customers to shotty work, you're the one who loses in the long run. Thank you post to pillar for letting me rant on your review and for that I give you a 5stars you were almost there anyways! Good work and suggestions in report. Does anyone to follow up inspections as a courtesy or maybe package deal if you're the purchaser of the inspection of course. They did a home inspection for us when we purchased a house. Their inspection was worthless. In under a month after the inspection we have had to replace springs in our garage door, valves for washer and dryer were broke and had to be replaced and before we even moved in the water heater ending up leaking and had to be replaced and now our ceiling in our garage is leaking. A good inspector should have seen these items. Definitely a waste of money with this company. We bought a lemon of a house and really wish that Derek would have caught some of the red flags. It has been one year since purchase and we have had to pump out insulation to half the house and rewire the kitchen and living room because there was faulty wiring in the attic. Northside Electric said there were TEN junction boxes above the kitchen alone. When I called Pillar to Post to express my concerns about them not catching this I was told that they do not have to inspect the attic fully if that would disturb insulation. So faulty electrical work can just be covered up by insulation I guess? We also had to rebuild two chimneys from the roof up due to structural instability. While I realized he was not a chimney inspector, in Derek's report he stated "moss treatment and removal recommended to reduce the chance of damage and deterioration to bricks and mortar". Anyway, I'm writing this a year later because now I've got leaks in the living room that require a new roof. We have obtained bids from three different roofing companies and they all say that the roof was not put on properly. In Derek's report he advises that "moss treatment and removal recommended to reduce the chance of premature damage to the roof". This advice we followed immediately but am surprised that it didn't even get us through a 2nd winter. There were several other smaller things but these were just the repairs that were greater than 3K. Derek was a nice guy, but if he had been thorough enough to catch even one of these major problems we might have decided on another property. read more

Scott did an inspection on a 1950 house in Independence before we made an offer on the house and got it. We felt that it was solid, and it was for the most part. He was prompt, professional, reasonably priced, and thorough. He crawled under the house and all through the attic (neither one is very spacious), took pictures, made notes, and printed the report on the spot. He identified several problems that we had not noticed on our first walk through, and we've bought and maintained a few investment properties. I totally recommend this company. read more

great company, Chris was early and got started before we arrived( we where 20 min before scheduled time) Very professional, and through walked us around the house showed us items explained things and gave us many chances to ask questions, before he left we had a detailed list of the repairs needed with corresponding pictures.
