This was more due to the convenience of the locality than any great shakes with the pub itself. We could walk here from our cottage and this was the main draw. The food itself is fairly typical pub grub. We both went for the plaice and chips on our first visit. It was on the specials board so we were expecting good things and we weren't disappointed. The portions were large, the place moist and not oily and the chips were tasty. A retro side salad of iceburg lettuce did make me inwardly chuckle and somewhat summed up the slightly old fashioned nature of the island as a whole! On the second visit my boyfriend again went for the plaice but was less impresed this time. I tried the chicken with cheese, leek and bacon sauce, which on the whole was pretty tasteless. The jacket potato was also microwaved which was a bit of a let down. The treacle sponge we had on our first visit was tasty but obviously brought in. They have a wide and varied menu here but I'm not convinced that much is produced from scratch on the premises. If you are staying in the village of Moelfre it's a good bet at least for one night, but on the whole the food and atmosphere are a little lacking. I did have to consume a couple of pints of the apptly named Dizzy Blonde ale though - how could I resist!

Food served daily in the summer with a good choice of sandwiches, pies, salad ploughmans etc. A little on the pricey side but huge portions and location justify this. We saw the bartender (whom I didn't catch his name) & we had a couple of questions but he kindly answered each & every one of them. Having two vegans from my party & myself being vegetarian, the chef & bartender were helpful in providing us their options. Once we placed our order my sister brought to my attention that they open at 12 though we were inside at 11:50. It was so kind of the two gents to help us & provide us with extremely great service. The food was simple yet hot & delicious; vegan/vegetarian all day breakfast.

There are a few pubs surrounding the market place that gives the city this reputation, but one pub that's the exception is the Albert Inn on Segontium Terrace. I live on the same street and have been into this pub more than any other in the city, and walked past it most nights as well, and my opinion of the pub is that it's an old-fashioned quiet but friendly little pub that's full of character. The pub is old-fashioned in style but nicely decorated - with wooden floors and beams and wooden tables and chairs and bar. There's a pool table that takes up one half of the front of the pub, and a cosy area in front of a real fire in the other half. The bar itself is towards the back, along with some more seating. There's a variety of drinks available and prices are reasonable. There's a smoking area outside the back door which is excellent as it means there isn't anybody stood outside the front door smoking - I think even the nicest of pubs are affected by this image. Despite being English, I've never felt threatened in here and the regulars are all really friendly and chatty towards me.
